@Limited Infinity Friend, let twilight die. Legitimately I've heard this exact same narrative years ago and it's shlock. The creature feature has been dormant for years, twilight was a fad for teen girls to fantasy over, and no one from what I've seen, has actually taken any inspiration from Meyers interuptation of the vampire. Twilight's influence is strictly within the romance genre, and it's not like it came out during a time when vampires or creature features were picking up steam. If anything has fucked the vampire over it was the dark universe mummy movie, in terms of potentially getting a boom of that kind of content, in movies.

Marlow (the Vampire Leader) is easily one of the most fascinating characters I've ever seen. We never learn anything about his backstory, but we can tell from the way he speaks that he has been around for hundreds of years. Almost every line he says is quotable and philosophical (to varying degrees). There is also quite a bit to speculate regarding his mentality. After Bo's failed suicide attempt, Marlow belittles him, saying, "When man meets a force he cannot destroy, he destroys himself instead. What a plague you are." Clearly, Marlow sees Vampires as superior and no longer sees himself as human, however, it also sounds a bit hypocritical to call mankind "a plague" when these Vampires literally cause nothing but death and destruction. Maybe he is a hypocrite. Or, maybe he sees Vampires as better because the havoc they cause is purely motivated by their need to feed, while humans often kill for no reason at all. Even more curious is when he and Iris (his mate) kill that couple in their home. As Marlow holds the man by the throat he tells him, "There is no escape. No hope. Only hunger and pain." This first implies that Marlow has a very bleak outlook on life, possibly both as a human and a Vampire. If you're a human, you're prey. If you're a Vampire, you are cursed with a neverending hunger and possibly some form of pain. The other curious thing about this scene is that Marlow speaks to the man in the Vampire language, knowing that the man probably can't understand him. It makes you wonder why Marlow bothered talking to him or felt the need to do so. It should also be noted that Marlow is hardly ever seen feeding. I can only think of one, maybe two brief instances where we see him feed on someone. He is also the only one who mostly cleans his face and then rubs blood on his head as if it were oil or lotion. Truly an Enigmatic Vampire

There were a few aspects of the virus that weren't covered that I'm curious about: Teeth: An important aspect of the virus is a sudden change in how their teeth are designed. At first, they are human, and then a few minutes or so later they look like Shark Teeth. This aspect appears to be more Supernatural since the new teeth appear suddenly and the old human teeth are nowhere to be found and it doesn't appear as though they grew these new teeth over the old human teeth. Nails/Claws: While this may seem like they just grew their nails long, I think there is something more going on here. Normal human nails can break fairly easily. These Vampires have nails that are extra thick and they use them as weapons, slashing the throat or face of their victim before going for the killing bite. Since we don't see any of the new Vampires with these claws, it appears to be something that is developed over time. Eyes/Eyesight: Their eyes change, becoming all black, like a Great White Shark. Great Whites happen to have excellent vision for both day and night

I am a student of Biology and focused secondary on Virology. 1) I concur that these vampires are definitely vectors for infection. Literally a handful of them unchallenged could turn a small city in mere weeks into vamps. 2) like zombies, ingestion of blood or biofluids is enough for changing into them. Fingernails and teeth and saliva carry the mode of transmission 3) how fast you turn and if you turn depends on: 1) immune response, 2 general general health, and 3) what caused the infection. A bite to neck and nearly bleeding out would greatly reduce immune system and ability to fight infections. 3) if they have a progenitor, a vaccine or bio weapon can be made. You’ll need the purest samples of DNA. The closest to the progenitor dna as possible. Or a 1 generation under progenitor. When I first watch this film, I knew these were viral. Another good vampire film with a virus type: V-Wars and TV Show: The Passage and The Strain. In 30 Days of Night, I believe they’re a humanoid apex predatory species. Function as packs like wolves but with a purpose and probably have a central government (originals of the species.)

In the comics, it has more of a supernatural aspect In fact, the generations in Alaska were wiped out by the older European generations who saw them as idiots who ran the risk of blowing their veil of secrecy And another thing in the comics, the town in question has become a fort that draws in vamps.

Just to be clear: Barrow is the furthest north city on the North American continent and is incredibly isolated. The way you talk about it makes it seem like there are a ton of other cities that far north and Barrow is just kinda one of them, when it’s one of *very few* “cities” in Alaska north of the Arctic Circle. Most of them are tiny villages. Edit: I’m from Alaska

I really liked this idea. Vampires attacking a town in the artic circle while it's constantly dark, and the people have to try and survive for a month. I thought Danny Houston was brilliant as the head vampire. I did think it was Neil tennent of the pet shop boys at first. The ship sailing towards the town in the distance looked like Dracula's castle. There's a lot I liked about it but I think it could have been alot better.
@lilscenechick19953 жыл бұрын
Great video! Interesting theory, but I think part of the horror is the mystery. The unknown. Where did the vampires come from? How do they exist? The concept of these vampires existing for thousands of years, possibly as long as humans or perhaps longer, is terrifying. I do love seeing 30 Days of Night get more recognition. It's such an underrated vampire flick. Along with Daybreakers. I love classic vampire lore, but I also love when people add their own twist (except Twilight, none of that lore made sense). Whenever the vampires in 30 Days screeched, it gave me goosebumps. They really made vampires scary again.

The scene of the vampire straight blasting thru the window and dragging homeboy's wife out the window by the time he can walk 15 paces is one of my all time favorite horror movie scenes! The infected from 28 Days/Weeks Later would be hard enough to handle and they're brainless. That kind of speed and power with the cunning to truly utilize it is horrifying!

This is not something i think you will take an interest in, but I was wondering if you would attempt to do an analysis on the Claymores and Youmas of the 'Claymore' series or perhaps the Vampires of the 'Shiki' anime. Regardless I love this movie and it is nice to see it getting some attention once again, personally I find the creepiest part about these vampires is that bizarre language they speak, coupled with their black eyes, and being almost constantly soaked in blood, giving them an almost demonic appearance, their behavior certainly doesn't help lol. Either way, have a great day and stay safe.
