Roasted Chestnuts | A Simple Holiday Classic

Here's an easy tutorial on how to make roasted chestnuts without the open fire.
Making roasted chestnuts is a lot easier to make than you might think and only requires a few simple steps. I only tried roasting chestnuts for the first time last year and was pleasantly surprised with how good they were. They have a buttery, sweet flavour and a really nice soft texture making them perfect for snacking, adding to charcuterie boards, as a topping for salads or sliced and added on to the top of flatbreads or pizzas.

Bonjour Chef, a long time ago, I asked an old Italian lady at the store how to cook them and she mentioned everything but to slice them. When I took them out of the oven, they started to explode ! Good thing I had glasses . Thanks for your tips and will surely try the buttered version ! Happy Holidays ! x

I never soak the chestnuts, I just score a large X shape so the shell curls up while roasting and it peels off right away. It's what my mom and grandma used to do before me and I do the same since I was a kid :)
