If you don’t understand why a grown man tears up driving a special car in a special moment like this you don’t have a soul. But I also understand if you find it funny too. Just so many years and so much time spent making this solid

The best part about Rob’s videos is that he always has a smile on and a genuine one at that. Not just at the end of each video but throughout the entire thing if it’s from breaking something or to running into another problem. Even after watching his videos for so many years and seeing so many smiles this one was different. Rob my man, you truly deserve that and so does everyone who works with you!

It's nice to see the smile; as someone that's struggled with depression for his entire adult life I envy people that are able to be as genuinely kind and happy as Rob always seems to be. Dude is super intelligent, able to both live in the real world, and be positive about his future; that is a very rare combination and it's nice to see it portrayed on a near daily basis on the channel here.

From the footage, it looks like the right wheel is somehow not responding properly to the steering input, as it seems to lag a lot behind the left wheel, and even then won't turn as far. Definitely needs some toe adjustment, if nothing else.

It's probably intentional. Anti-ackerman steering is used in drifting because you're steering in the opposite direction of what you would do with grip.

Hey Rob, first of all nice to see that the diff already helped with your steering problem. But I think you should review the steering geometry overall. From the Top down perspective it looks like the outer wheel has a tighter steering angle than the inner wheel. Normaly that has to be the other way around and that should be the reasen the tires are squeaking even at slow turns because the inner tire is "fighting" the outer tire. Maybe check out the, how we call it in germany "Ackermann Prinzip". Jp from JP Performance had the same problems with his "Supergolf" at the beginning. Hope I can help with my middleschool english and Greetings from Germany😄✌

Awesome progress!!!! Small note, your steering Ackerman seems a little off. Typically I think your inside wheel should have more angle than the outside wheel for turning otherwise you end up with the outside wheel scrubbing a lot. I know this isn't a road course car, but something to consider for your next revisions :)

Yes it looks like way too much toe-in instead of proper ackerman. At slow speeds you would want toe-out (actually ackerman where each wheel aligns with the center of the rear axle). However at high G loads the tire slip angle is greater on the outside wheel creating more toe-out than ideal. All that means that in general high speed, high G turns want less than theoretical ideal ackerman (or more parallel wheels). But then drifting throws all that out the window. But I believe you should want parallel or toe out instead of this video showing massive toe-in. I think I read somewhere that the steering arms should point at the center of the rear axle for nearly correct ackerman. (but only if the rack and end links form a straight line)

Actually in racing an "Anti-Ackerman"-Steering Geometry can be intentional, because your outer tire is under a higher load than the inside tire. That allows for a greater slip angle (angle between your direction of travel and your steering angle) on your outer wheel, which can now achieve higher grip levels when driving through a corner. Your inner wheel on the other hand experiences less load while cornering and therefor allows only for a smaller slip angle to achive maximum grip. Now for a street car you obviously would not want an Anti-Ackerman, as your inner tire would constantly scrub while taking 90 degree turns in a city for example. But in racing, with higher loads especially in high speed cornering, you can optimize your grip levels allowing for higher traction and a more stable car. Though I don't know if it is intentional with the 4-Rotor (maybe its the same with the Hoonicorn?) steering geometry, as well as every other part of a car, can be applied in different ways depending on the kind of racing the car has to compete in as well as the track it will be raced on. \\EDIT: Anti-Ackerman can often be seen on Formula 1 cars. Also, in a perfect world, I guess you would want a steering geometry that constantly adapts to your cornering speed and tire loads. Slow corner == Ackerman, Fast corner == Anti Ackerman.

Just to clarify, because many people don't understand how a conventional differential delivers torque and power - they are NOT the same. A conventional diff', often called "open", delivers equal torque to both axles. When both tyres have grip this is fine, but the problem arises when one has less grip and the engine can supply excess torque - the tyre with plenty of grip is going to be supplies the equal torque of the slipping tyre, and the less torque it can use, the less the tyre with grip will also receive, until the low grip drops to zero (like with a lifted tyre) and the tyre with grip gets around zero torque. As some of you are aware, power is basically torque times rpm - so from that you can understand that for the same power being applied but a reduction in torque resistance, the wheel rpm will increase to balance the power/torque part of the equation. There is on "one wheel drive" BS, both tyres will drive equally, but that drive is limited by the traction of the tyre with less grip. Hope that helps, folks. A spool, or welded differential, has 100% torque biasing, as the torque will match the grip of the tyre. Torque biasing, LSD, and the like try to minimise the loss by limiting the speed differential [different usage of the word] between the axles.

Watching you hoon the 4 rotor is the most beautiful and emotional thing I've seen so far, and it looks so damn good doing it like it's in it's element. I could rewatch that moment forever so maybe some more hooning soon please!!! I can't wait to see what gets done next great job Rob and everyone that's helped you get this far, I love it

Omg ROB that donut/drift at the end was the absolute nastiest thing I’ve seen the car do yet. It’s just looked so insane. So sporty so just fricking amazingly awesome. Just looked like that’s exactly wat that car does. So sick man. It’s just really coming to around. Couldn’t be accomplished with out the both of you. You two are an amazing team and that ride Is just out this world next level and it’s starting to preform like it’s truly a next level ride. Super great wrk both ya. Killing it.

Love the enthusiasm and helping to explain the why. Also for the paddle shifters, it's a hot topic on column or steering wheel mounted but the bracket you have would work for column mount and then they would always be in the same place.

The quick coupler for the electrical on the wheel looks like an easy way to have an issue. If those pins get opened up even the slightest you will have a high ohm situation that you don't want. I would use the "curly Q" like you mentioned. Tried & true device. cheers!
