I love this method of teaching attention and leash walking. Old method and it works for this type of dog. I use it a lot. And i love Robert’ s explanations.

Good and fast result, nice! Do you correct with the pull because he is reactive? If he wasn't, would a direct turn be enough (because he corrects himself) with the end of the leash little pop? And if he does it right immediately can you praise as reinforcement or only after multiple times?

One other thing I noticed is when owner changes direction tell him to look in the direction of where is turning and not looking at the dog. The dog will be forced to go in your direction after you turn and slack in the leash tightens. Turn with purpose and Leash pops.

@RobertCabralDogs_on_te-l I work as a volunteer to help foster and adopter to train their dogs. Most of the dogs had issue with aggression or fearful to people or the city. I am not a licensed dog trainers but I did working with about 60+ dogs in these two years. I learn a little from KZbin and I believe balance training is best to work on street dog. Thank you for all the tips and I wish you have a good day !

I have Akitas. On my Channel here, I have shown a little bit of the work I've done with them, as well as how well they can behave. I'm not happy with what I've uploaded and find many faults in it, so I'll do a better job soon. Once you post something and watch it (at least I do) you feel you didn't say the most accurate thing or you didn't show the best thing. I'm still learning. What I can say is that the Akita tends to be a breed that is difficult, requiring more work, more consistency, more socialization, more boundaries, more attention. Mine have improved a TON. Especially my male, who I've worked with far more. He used to want to go after most dogs, but now he remains completely chill as we walk by most dogs, including those barking and pulling on their leash to get at him. The biggest challenge though, and one he still responds to, are dogs that stand very still and stare at him quietly and intensely. That body language is communicating a challenge or a threat that he returns. Keep working!

?Can you help me with my 2 years old male intact GSD. Been trying to get help for months. He growls and runs away from teenage son and overall had a bi polar attitude????. Vet says he wasn't properly socialized as a puppy but we had him since 3 months old. Don't wanna re home him but he's giving us no option ??? In person trainers and you tube trainers all want thousands of dollars for advice

When training a loose leash walk, I know the 180° turn is really important, but what if, due to physical limitations (dizziness issues for me), you can't keep making those turns over and over without falling down?
@MonaLindau-ct3df2 ай бұрын
I could use 90 degree turns and just unpredictable turns.

There are a couple of people who are online that are being worse than force free dog trainers Robert. They seem to have a big chip on their shoulder and they are putting all dog trainers down. Crazy how people are acting these days.
@GetFitwithDogs7 ай бұрын
Yes, they (Purely Positive/Force Free advocates) do have a chip on their shoulder. It's their religion. They're the worst people IMO. They cannot seem to just advocate for their beliefs, they feel they must attack others to destroy them so that there is nothing left BUT their way. I despise these people and have no tolerance for them. They don't even understand dogs. Can you imagine a dog mother that doesn't use "negative" reinforcement? It doesn't happen, because that's absurd. There is a place for positive reinforcement, but it isn't the solution for everything. Dog mothers instinctually know this, and correct the pups with her teeth and sound. These PP/FF people - as far as I can tell - are emotionally weak and narcissistic people who think that they should never be told no, because being told no prevents them from doing what they want to do, and doing what you want to do is never worse than being told no with strength that they can't resist. I can't imagine raising kids this way. This attitude is the same as giving the kicking and screaming toddler what they want to stop the kicking and screaming. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that this approach raises spoiled monsters, which is what I think PP/FF advocates are. Sorry, I didn't intend to rant. I am just sick of these people trying to destroy the lives of others that they don't agree with. They're not good people, they just hide their vile behavior behind a "crusade" cloaked in good intentions.

They will always be a tiny minority even though the internet gives them a voice. They'll have a few like-minded fans which may appear like quite a lot but it's not. The big majority will either not even know about/notice them or just think of them as crazy folk. The p+ people however are a danger to dogs and owners as they have a huge lobby and dellusional ideology behind them
@vinceking76517 ай бұрын
@RobertCabralDogs_on_te-le-g I just think it's unfair how there are certain people trying to ruin dog training because they think it's unnecessary. There's one guy who is obsessed with putting other dog trainers down, especially your goodself.
@staffbull7 ай бұрын
The owner needs to pay closer attention to the directions. Loose lead, do not give the dog the heads up before the turn. Turn with purpose, not this hesitant twinkle toe turn. Be the boss of where you are going.
@Nick-ye8pf5 ай бұрын
Yea and don’t rip the dogs head off with the leash
@mr.nonederful33142 ай бұрын
I think it would help the handler to just learn to turn away and walk. He's got to get comfortable taking his eyes off the dog and redirecting himself first. That little moon-walk he's doing isn't going to work.

American Akita...Japanese Akitas are much harder...Much harder...
@loyal_dogs7 ай бұрын
I agree. The American one in the video almost acts like a typical will to please dog. A J Akita needs a certain type of person and a somewhat unique handling based on mutual respect and they can be amazing dogs. Otherwise they'll be psycho and the owner not happy 😂 I love my J Akita more than anything and I can let her off leash, she gets along with all dogs (ignores even aggressive ones), doesn't chase animals etc and she's a dream of a dog without needing a single command but yet I wouldn't recommend that breed to most people I meet lol

WTH. This is awful. There’s really no need to pull that hard on a leash to “correct”. That’s just positive punishment. I’m pretty balanced in how I train but this owner is just being an a-hole
