Using less product in makeup worked like an overnight magic for me.Back in 2017 and until 2020 I was so disappointed with how my cakey makeup looked inspite of following all the techniques "I was supposed to".And later during the end of 2020 I found Robert and Hindash's channel on yt and observed the way how they emphasized more on using less product and trust me ever since then I saw such a huge difference and almost no texture. Makeup has been so fun since then.
@nikitatavernitilitvynova2 жыл бұрын
I used to use full coverage stuff and abuse it. Because I though it made men fit in more since this is what others do. And for the longest time I couldn't tell you what half the products did for me and whether I wanted more or less or a different one. Concealer? Does it show slightly and or is full coverage? I mean it's concealer anything goes. Does this mascara make my lashes black and look like I have any on? Yes, it's good. But recently I found out I love the less is more approach. I barely wear foundation. Or if I do it's either tinted moisturizer or dewy and when my skin is misbehaving as in tons of pimples or redness. My skin became glowier since I finally got myself a moisturizer. And I stopped using powder all together since it did nothing for me. My skin doesn't get all dry everytime I take my makeup off. Because this is what I do usually. Of course moisturizer with spf and a primer. Some concealer to brighten up and spot conceal any visible imperfection, cream bronzer (it's a darker concealer), blush and dewy highliter. Eye primer for some eyeshadow looks, eyeliner (I often use the one I use for my brows), brow liner and mascara plus something on the lip. Either a gloss or lip oil or whatever. And I haven't felt more beautiful ever since I gained confidence.

I love the thought process behind using less product. I think of it in terms of cooking; you want to start with a little bit of salt and gradually add a little bit of salt each time until you find it seasoned the right amount to your liking. If you add too much salt all at once, then you potentially ruin the whole dish and have to start over🍝

Back in the day when I was doing make up for a Prescriptives, we were the first to color match undertones. One of my favorites requests was, “I need a red!” A red what, lol. It was truly impossible for some people to understand how many variations of red there can be and that a blue red that matches your undertone can actually look natural. I love your advice, Robert. It’s spot on. Too bad MAC pushed Prescriptives out of the market, but the color wheel still works.

Finally someone said it!! 😂😂 I've been so confused as why ladies are rocking the oompa loompa look with pride now. I mean if that's what you like then you do you. I completely agree about the natural soft glow you get from bronzer over a proper foundation match. My mom was in her late teens and twenties during the 1950s and another thing she taught me to get a more natural and healthy look was to apply your blush before bronzer. A lot of their blushes she was able to get then were a little much she said and this diffused it and made it look more like the glow is under the skin and not just sitting on top. Still works amazing and it's really opened me up to trying more blush tones to incorporate more appropriate undertones that work with the rest of my makeup much better than just sticking with the same shade.

I’m so glad you’re talking about foundation matches. Babsbeauty is one that uses foundation 10x darker than her face and it’s very obvious. I’ve watched some transformations on IG and every time they make those drastic transformations they’re using foundation that isn’t the correct undertone and 3 shades too dark. They do look completely different but I think there’s a way to do that and still have your foundation match.

Thanks for the video! I didn't know that I needed to wait for a bit before putting powder over liquid foundation. I've found that my Mac pressed powder and a dry blush I believe got hard panned and messed up from putting the brush in the pan back and forth in the pan from wet makeup. Now I understand. Also, a lot of people's skin gets darker in the summer so their makeup shade may change to. I have deeper skin but in the summer I can't wear certain foundations and tinted moisturizers because they're too light. Other foundations that were too dark from winter to summer work better for me in the summer and fall.

I’m glad you posted this video-it’s true for makeup less is more. Up until 2020 I wore so much makeup every day I looked ridiculous and now I’ve learned to tone it down. I also see way too many people using yellow foundation because they think it cancels red-it kind of does-but so does a foundation that actually matches their skin and won’t look like a mask. So many people are actually cool in undertone and don’t realize it. (I’m warm neutral and even my undertones aren’t that yellow).

Kind of a weird thought, but I've noticed the yellow-toned foundation thing too, and I wonder if a lot of people started to think they had a yellow undertone due to the popularity of warm toned non-complexion makeup (even if warm tones seem to have slightly waned in popularity in very recent years). I had a recent epiphany with my own skintone and realized I thought I was much more yellow that I actually was because warm tones next to my skin bring out a yellowy/almost sallow tone. I realized I had been gravitating towards yellow toned complexion products because they made my skin look more 'harmonious' against the warm toned eyeshadow/bronzer/blush I was wearing. Brands seem to have made their conplexion lines much more yellowy than what seemed to used to be the case, too, so I really do think yellow toned complexion products have been more popular in general in the past 5 or so years.

Finding the right undertone was a game changer. I also noticed that many you tubers apply entirely too much product when they are doing their makeup. If someone is watching and doing their makeup like that, it’s going to look really bad in real life but really good on camera. I’ve stopped going directly in with a product; especially cream and liquids. Now I put them on the back of my hand and then dip my brush, tap or wipe off, then go on my face. It makes a world of difference!

But when I powder with a sponge, it always turns out flawless and smooth, no texture whatsoever. I really haven't figured out why it is so, I would love to use a brush and use a lot less powder, but it never seems to work on me. On the subject of yellow shades of foundation, I'd like to add something else I notice quite often when scrolling through Instagram. People who call themselves or work in the make up profession are not all that keen on the yellow shade of foundation and I get the impression that they use one colour on every model or client, and when it comes to make up, it's always full beat make up. It's like they did a course 10 years ago when heavy make-up was in vogue and didn't take into account other trends or techniques. And these are people who often work with celebrities or TV people. A couple of days ago, I saw one such person doing the make-up of a young girl who looked 40 years old and none of the comments under the photo were positive. She explained that it was make-up for a party. I didn't know you had to be 20 years older for a party :D

Ahaaaaa! I always noticed when I'm hurrying to get out the house and i apply foundation/ concealer and right after I set with powder it always looks cakey and bad. I always thought is because i hurried and i didn't apply properly - but now it makes more sense On the same note, i noticed a similar thing if i wait a little (even 5 min) between skincare products or if i don't

My fave everyday foundation is a few shades lighter but well blended and with a small amount it looks great. I have an exact match but not in love with the formula so I only use it to be fancy

Oh, my goodness! Finally! The foundation hacks are spot on! Too much foundation and the wrong color! People are using way too much. And anybody can rock a red lipstick! 💄 thank you for the video! ❤️

Hi, Love your videos, they have so much good info! Can you recommend the best eye primer for matte shadows, and one for the more duochrome or shimmers?

FINALLY someone has the answer to my problem! My face is significantly lighter than my the rest of my body, so I could not figure out what shade to use, because if I matched my neck I looked so weird! So thank you so so much for the tip! I also agree with the yellow undertone in foundations, I have an neutral/olive undertone, so it is very hard to have an exact match, but it is worse when the girls at the makeup stores insist on selling you a warm/yellow foundation. It doesn't work for everyone! I look soooo yellow, like having hepathitis lol Thanks a lot for your videos, I always learn so so much!
