I didn`t realize you were going that high. Highways and wind will be a concern. Good luck. We are tuned in for next episode.

So the fix for your door seal is easy. Yes use glue. But also give the seal a gentle squeeze the metal part of it before mounting it to the door opening.

Polyurethane, not glue.

Wow. I’ll add to the wasn’t expecting quite so high. Will be an interesting build and curious to see how it will handle. You’re pioneering, people will tell you you’re crazy, but nothing new happens without a little crazy 😉 And if it ends up too crazy, you built it, you can rebuild it a bit lower or shorter. I feel the loving the wide open feeling and has me thinking roll back convertible top ideas again 😁

I’m all for being able to stand up, especially with my back and health issues right now. You might wanna keep an eye on the side winds. I left my work vehicle alone and bought a cargo trailer and converted it to camp trailer. Now it looks like a work rig so I don’t get hassled.

When it is all done, you will probably appreciate the extra height. Coming along.

I have a 2018 promaster high top, with side winds it's pretty scary sometimes, I can't imagine what this is going to be like with side winds. I imagine it's going to be downright dangerous driving this vehicle with high winds.

HUM, got to go back & see the other clips, will the end result still fall within weight restrictions or safety with the current suspension and tires? May have to at minimum get MORE ply sidewalls

You will be driving a sailboat! This 36 inch increase height did you consider making it a pop top? Perhaps you can explain why the roof was not removed above the side door entry? I understand this is about economics. My opinion, you could have searched for a paratransit bus. Much easier, and safer. I don't expect your chassis to be stable at highway speeds. Additional 270 cubic feet of volume! You can get a small box truck with straight walls, flat top (solar) and have about the same total volume. I will continue to watch this build. Will be interesting to learn the final weight increase.

Re the not cutting out the roof for the whole side door opening, I think the biggest reason is he stopped (wisely imo) at the rib to maintain integrity. For the rest, iirc it's because he owns the van, knows it's condition, and isn't afraid to try. I'm not too worried yet depending on two things. One you mentioned, weight, especially if it comes out top heavy. And the other total height being a problem in some low clearance areas, but maybe that's not an issue for him.
@kenzo9644Ай бұрын
It's going to be top heavy & un road worthy !!??
@RobertWithamАй бұрын
LOL Nope. Already road tested multiple times and it rides just fine. It is absolutely no more top heavy than any other high-profile vehicle - and better than some that I have driven.
