I was thinking of doing this but with an aluminum frame and steel roof panels then angling it for aerodynamics. I only want to be able to stand up in my van. I don't want the wind to push me off the road or change the handling of the van too much. Good luck.

How will you seal the area in front between the bottom of the bed and the curved roof?

Have you thought about putting bull nose molding on outside to soften the squareness and conform more to van shape

36" in the bed area should do fine. I based the bed platform in the Caravan off the height of my chosen storage bins. It left me with 35" from platform to roof. Plenty of space, but I do use Therm-A-Rest pads instead of any memory foam junk!

Soooo cool. Great job and video series. You will inspire a lot of van people. You ought to have an artist paint a sea scape all around like you have a pool on your roof. Paint large Lighthouse like Gay Head lighthouse. Lol

I think you will be lucky to get 8 MPG when I put a cargo box on my Prius my MPG went from 44 mpg to 30 mpg and it was supposed to be aerodynamic .

Did you calculate/estimate the additional top weight? You could have weighed each piece before you installed. Definitely you will need to check weather wind forecast daily before venturing at speeds greater than 45mph. Especially if dude winds are anticipated. Will be interesting see see video first time a semi passes you.
