RoboCop has a dynasty of comics. I already named one in the other comments. Here's the other 5: Marvel Comics (1990-1992), plus adaptations of the first two films. Frank Miller's RoboCop versus The Terminator from Dark Horse Comics (1992) which became a video game in 1993. Dark Horse Comics, (1992-1994), 13 issues plus adaptation of RoboCop 3. Dynamite Entertainment, (2009-2013), 14 issues. Boom! Studios (2013-2016), 34 issues.

It changed nothing. They find a solution anyway in the first movie even with the grey finish. They change the color mainly because they wanted a more friendly image, more "toy" appearance for a younger audience.

The blue tint he has makes it look like his armor is blued steel. Bluing is a way of finishing steel that gives it that kind of blue look. You see it a lot in firearms. So I'd argue the blue tint actually makes him look less toy like and a bit less space age.

I love this movie, mostly for nostalgic reasons. I have a cousin who lived several states away at the time, but he was able to come over and visit for a week during the summer this movie came out. We were barely teenagers, but we absolutely loved the first Robocop and we convinced our moms to take us to the theater to see this one. At the time, we thought it was amazing, but now looking at it through an adult's perspective, we definitely see the flaws. I think it would've been a lot better if they used the scene with Robocop talking to his former wife and made that the very last scene of the film. And a couple of other tweaks here and there, but I won't get into that here.

The best of the Robocop sequels. Also it's the final film to be directed by Irwin Kershner (Star Wars:Episode V-The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 and the James Bond remake, 'Never Say Never Again' in 1983). Plus it's the first of the 2 sequels with comic industry legend, Frank Miller as screenwriter and he played Cain's head lab scientist. This one really felt like a comic come to life. So many stakes and awesomeness. A lot was cut out of the scripts for the sequels (mostly from Miller). But it was re-utilized in Avatar Press' RoboCop (2003-2006) comic series with Miller's name on it. The Arcade scene had a bunch of games from Data East. Robocop 1 and 2 were made into games by the same company. Robocop 3 is the most hated of the trilogy. Because of it's lowered quality, it feels more like a tv movie than theatrical feature. RIP to Galyn Görg as Angie, Cain's girlfriend.

While not nearly as iconic and gritty as the first one, the movie did hold up decently. The movie is ironic since it is tamer, and that was one of the main things robocop had to deal with. Also yes... I had a battle damaged robocop toy.

Robocop 2 was a step below the first one, but then they clearly thought they weren't going downhill fast enough and made Robocop 3. I can watch the first two anytime, but damn ... that third one.

THIS MOVIE ROCKS! Phil Tippett, god bless him, did an outstanding job with the stop motion animation sequences. This was his last film to do stop motion animation as he was hired by Steven Spielberg to do VFX on a little movie called JURASSIC PARK.

Like no joke years until i saw Predator and that took over and then an old cheesy horror movie called GRIZZLY.... now that bear messed me up and still today i have vivid memories of the nightmares i had.... i no joke just got goosebumps thinking about it..... god dammit, i bet i'm going to dream about it tonight 🥺

@@republicofcasuals Cain Robot took over the cyborg thing from Superman 3, that thing really gave me nightmares. @@MarcoBayod_MB Yea that warehouse scene where you first see Cain was the nightmare inducing part and crushing that girl, and why did you have to remind me about Superman 3..... i went a looked at a clip as it's been a very long time since i have seen that and i got instant PTSD.... yea that robot thing haunted me as well. Did you ever watch Labyrinth? I loved that movie but that was full of nightmares as a kid... the hands that make faces and talk when she fell in the hole after going through the wrong door, the Cleaner machine in the tunnel, those red / pink creatures that pull their heads of and throw them around.... I do actually miss being scared of movies now though. The last movie that kind of got me looking over my shoulder was a low budget movie called (It Follows) just a simple idea but i used to have a recurring nightmare where a crocodile would always be following me... Not chasing, but always slowly moving towards me, like i could travel to another country and eventually it would work it's way to me and watching (It Follow) gave me that exact feeling i had as a kid of always looking around every corner and over my shoulder for anyone making eye contact.... if you've seen the movie you know what i'm talking about, if not, maybe check it out. Sorry for the long essay 😁

I pogo back and forth on this. About a third of Robocop 2 is sincere sequel with some actual "whoa" moments, like the "to honor him" bit. But the rest is soulless franchise fishing, hack imitation, and trial balloons for toy lines.

Thanks for the reaction. Great video. I enjoyed Robocop 2 back in the day. Even though the first one was a lot darker in tone, more cynical and satirical. They still got some of it here (the commercials for example). This one here had one or two too goofy scenes for me. But overall still a strong sequel. And for the time pretty violent and gory. Tom Noonan for me stole the show, he was great as Cain here. He's also very good in the original "Manhunter" as Francis Dollarhyde.

@not-this-time5ca762 Жыл бұрын
The problem with such complex filmes is that often the most important message gets lost due to one's ignorance. In this case, your ignorance, guys. Not in a single moment the movie blatantly points out that the problem is "capitalism" per say, and people wrongfully conflate capitalism with corporatism (which according to most economists of the Austrian school, it is the corrupted alliance or merging of government and corporations). That is the theme throughout both movies and the most criticized thing in both Robocop 1 and 2. Capitalism always meant free trade, and got its bad connotation due to the undergoing cultural war that has been going on forever. But it only takes one to check old books and respected economists from the past (Rothbard, thomas sowell, Milton Friedman, Ludwig von Mises) to see that Capitalism is referred to as nothing but "free trade." There's no government and no control. Just the voluntary act of trading with someone when both agree on doing so. Although Robocop 2 is not the greatest movie, it goes all the way in complaining about corporatism, hinting that this is how fascism works. And they are not wrong. You guys mentioned that there was something connecting bad guys from WWII to private cities, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The only people allowed to do business in Germany at that time were those authorized by the Government. However, the biggest companies would gladly ally themselves with fascist governments to have no competition. Did you ever read about the Berlim wall? Which side was the one that was desperate to join the other? Remind me again. That level of control and no accountability, that kind of oppression, that lack of liberty for the common citizen... That is the issue, and that often happens in Social Democracies, Socialists, and, obviously, communist countries. It also happens in countries that adhere to State Capitalism and Fabian Socialism, which is designed to keep people poor while corporations thrive. As someone who lives in Latin America, I'm constantly scared of something like that happening here specifically because of how much governments control the market. Maybe studying a bit about these subjects and revisiting this review would be a good idea. Class is over.

The different director from part 1 changes the view alot Frank Miller was hired to write Robocop 2 but wanted a darker script but fights with Orion made it difficult to settle on a script. There are Miller elements in this film...mainly in the 2nd half.

Just to be clear, the Miller script sucks also. Ditto for the comic book they made adapting it to be the "Miller cut" of Robocop 2.

yes, Peter Weller and Nancy Allen returned because of the Frank Millar script but then Orion pictures butchered it going against input from Miller, Kershner and the actors so all of them have distanced themselves from the "finished" product. Frank Miller's original screenplay for RoboCop 2 was turned into a nine-part comic book series titled Frank Miller's RoboCop if you want to see what it was supposed to be.
@Renoistic Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the comic is very bad as well. It's all the bad parts of Miller's writing with none of the good.
