I've had mine since it came out! The mrs was pissed at me at first as she took it that I was suggesting she didn't do a good job but the house is 250M2 Carpet upstairs and tile in the Bathroom. We have 3 kids too. Now she loves it. It has to drop and clime over a CM high step between floor surfaces but does so without a problem. I'm on the the original battery!! but need a new front wheel. The curved edge of the plastic shoe trays in the hall were the only place it got stuck and this was daily for months before the wheel casing cracked. Replaced them with sided ones and the touch sensor has no problem now. Totally impressed with this device. For the price a separate unit for upstairs may be an option. I had the laser malfunction and was a bout to buy what I thought was a burned out motor but watched a you tube vid and guess what, removed a bit of hair (mrs has very fine hair) and it was working fine again. Really impresses ´me how much punishment this unit has has with lego, string, hair, paper all being caught up with it telling you every time the problem (I am technical but many people are not) It's error messages have been clear. Power setting? I had no idea there was one! wow. I am critical here but would definitely recommend this unit 3 years later. The parts are cheap and easy to find too. This is a role model of how a company should look after their customers. Instead of FU new model, rake the cash in, there are parts that are cheap. I have not seen an equivalent power to price ratio battery anywhere even if I don't need one yet.

I bought a refurbished S5 I found online and I think even in 2020 it is an outstanding value. I cannot imagine the amount of engineering went into making this device. It is so precise and so intelligent and picks up so well. I have quite literally half carpet half hardwood and it's just great. Just fyi: a firmware update allows the regular S5 to get both room select and multifloor houses. I have yet to test mopping but was one of the reasons I chose it over the S4 for the price and I plan to do a mop test tonight. Thanks vacuumwars for your outstanding videos. When people come over they're like "nice Roomba" and I'm like "this is a Roborock, not a Roomba lol"... I've converted many friends to Roborock fans because it is just such a futuristic way in how it works and navigates. It is far superior to dumb bouncing robovacs and even my friend who has a roomba with a camera in it was very impressed by how quickly it navigates a d how well it works on both hard floors and carpet. Can't say enough about it.

I love my S5. A month ago I bought the S4, S5, Shark IQ, and the iRobot S9 plus. I wanted to see for myself which one I liked better. S9 plus worked great but no vacuum is with $1500 (with tax). Shark IQ could be #1 if they fix the software, LOVED the S4 but it had trouble climbing a threshold, LOVE the S5 so that’s the one I kept.. Dust bin is a little small but with my cat and vacuuming twice a day I still only empty it when I remember which is maybe every 5 days or so. The suction is strong so it compacts the cat hair

Really happy with my unit 10 months in. I also have medium to short carpet. Issues are the following . setup involving WiFi or server issues..I pray I never have to set this up again. I’ve had to set it up twice over the last 10 months and each time takes 20-40 min messing with routers and international servers. The vacuum picks up a lot of hair and dust on carpet so I have to zone clean one room at a time to make sure it is properly cleaning the entire household. The “feeling” of the Vacuumed carpet is a “rougher”feeling vs using my normal traditional vacuum cleaner...but the convenience factor makes up for it. If guests are coming over I’ll break out the traditional vacuum to get that softer carpet feeling in high traffic areas. Sometimes the vacuum is glitchy when using the zone cleaning function. For example I’ll start a zone clean, and it will “finish” 1 minute later. I’ll have to start a full household clean, pause task, then start a zone clean again which corrects the issue. Also better app/Alexa support so I could just say “clean kitchen” instead of opening the app and setting zones. In the end, I’m still really satisfied...we had a baby this past year so this has been extremely helpful to help us keep the house clean!

Have had the S50 since it came out as well as an original Xiaomi Mi which started the whole thing. Both going fine. I think they're on about their 3rd battery. I have disabled the cliff sensors as the plastic for them is scratched up and we have no stairs anyway. I have just ordered the Qrevo to add to the slave colony under the hallway cupboards. The consumables and parts are really cheap - I replaced the pump on the S50 I think a few years ago and the part cost about $20. These are cheap to keep running and to repair, as you have mentioned. Roborock for the win. Oh, one other things as well - setup a separate wifi network and make sure you have firewall rules blocking the robot vacuums from communicating to anything other than the internet.

The S5 Max is in some ways a downgrade from the S6 (removal of laser tower bumper, removal of cable management charger, removal of 2 stair sensors, removal of gear and exhaust muffler, no more click on floor protector) but it is definitely an upgrade from the S5 since you get the advanced cleaning algorithms and nicer software. cheers

BitCuration it doesnt need it because it recognizes a carpet and stops using mop
@Eagle-Striker5 жыл бұрын
@@BitCuration Yes that is the main point of the S5 Max, the improved mop with the no-mop zone software. You can actually do a no-mop zone on the S6 (although I never tried since I don't mop) by putting no go zones on the carpets and then just use that specific map while you mop (the S6 can store up to 3 maps). I also own the 950 but I don't like it all. It emphasises too much data from its bumper ignoring its laser and IR scanner hence way too rough with the home. You can see that in the two 15 second clips below. Ozmo 950 bump test 1 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eITHoK2vgtV2rJI vs Roborock S6 bump test 1 kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWjOpmh7jpmWhZY It sometimes also uses the same cleaning path hence re-cleaning what it already cleaned. It sometimes also acts lost and needed 5 restarts on my shag carpet. By all means I would go with the S6 or S5 Max.

@@fazeelakassim1015 It still works really well, and for the price it is a good buy. However, the mop attachment doesn't work any more, even when I replaced the water drop valve. The mop was never terribly good anyway. It still does a great job at vacuuming and navigation. If mopping is important to you, there is a Bissell robot vac that looks very promising.
I got one of these and absolutely loved the excellent pathing. However, the huge deal breaker for me was that most of my house is medium pile carpet, and unfortunately the S5 would get stuck every 5-15 minutes with an error, which required manually restarting it. There was nothing in the main brush, and it seemed like it was just not meant at all for medium pile carpet. Which is super unfortunate since i loved everything else about this vacuum. I looked online and a good number of others had experienced this exact thing.I even tried different work-arounds, like clipping the brush a bit. Nothing worked! So I settled for a Coredy. Not super smart in pathing, but at least it doesn't jam on the medium carpet!

My living room rug is dark brown mixed with very light brown and the vacuum gets confused then gets stuck. I called the manufacturer and they suggested that I put white tape over the cliff sensors. I did but nothing improved so I made all rugs no go zones as the vacuum always gets stuck on them.

I have the S5 downstairs and the E20 upstairs and love them. My only real complaint on the S5 like you mentioned is the dust bin size. I tend to stop and empty the bin once when it's cleaning because we have cats and it fills up pretty fast the E20's bin is so much bigger I just wish they could have put a similar size on the S5. The company did announce in the FB group that the room labeling is coming to the S5 soon and they were starting the Beta testing so that was good to hear.

I have had mine for a few months and use it almost every day. I have not had many issues with the S5 at all. The one thing that I hate was a month or so ago, they updated the firmware. Before that if it didn't recognize the room it was in it on the map, it would start an all new map (great for me having a smaller upstairs) and once it was brought back to the dock, it would get the saved map back. Now if it doesn't recognize a room it just writes over or on top of the saved map with that being a mixed bag. Sometimes when upstairs, in the non saved map area, it's trying to avoid objects that are not there upstairs but are downstairs and sometimes its just fine. Now the upstairs just overwrites on the overlay of the downstairs map instead of starting a new area. Then it gets all confused and messed up sometimes when it vacuums downstairs because of the upstairs data in the map and I have to reset the map. But other times it seems to be fine and the map fully resets. That was not an update for the better

I've had mine for a few weeks now and it has changed my household! I used your reviews to help my decide what robot to purchase. In the UK it's harder to come by. I got mine for £322 from Amazon and it took less than a week to arrive. I have used the mopping attachment and it's great. I love the no go lines and keep out zones and my only wish would be to be able to designate the rooms. My cat litter is in the bathroom and my cat flicks it out several times a day. Being able to send it to clean it is brilliant. I even did it once whilst I was in the shower so I didn't tread on it when I got out! I use the zone clean to do the entire house and set it to clean 3 times. I do this daily and it takes an hour. Battery life is superb and it's never once forgotten where its dock is. I have degenerative Osteoarthritis in my spine and knees and being able to get this to do the hard work is brilliant for my pain levels. All I have to do is get the Dyson V10 out once a week to do the stairs and living room rug (the S5 has difficulty climbing it at certain angles, so I use a keep out zone) If you are thinking of buying this, don't hesitate just get one. I use the S5 since 1 year, and I confirm what you said. I'd like to add : - the autonomy is basically infinite. In my 85m² house, I can vacuum in high mode, then mop 2 times (3h of cleaning) and it still has battery remaining. - the battery did not loose any capacity after 200h of cleaning - the wheels sometimes make high pitch noise - the robot sometimes miss a room, especially if the door was closed the last time it cleaned - when it catch a thing like a lace in the brushes or the wheels, it takes way too long to detect it. It happened to me a couple of times, and I destroyed 1 side brush this way. Fortunately, no internal damages at this point - as you mentionned, we do not get updates for the new software features. It's annoying, because cleaning by room is a feature that a lot of people need. It's annoying that this robot was already left aside by Roborock after a few months. Overall, I'm very happy with this robot, and if I had to make a choice again, it would be the same.

HI had my S5 for 10 months, cleans +- 130M2 daily (when she completes and is not getting snagged on hair ties and kids socks), I have to clean the bin daily and she needs to recharge at least once in a clean (on medium, it is a large house, only about 20M2 is carpet the rest is tile and laminate wood), I have two indoor dogs, three cats and two kids. Best money I have spent though. To Clarify before anyone gets excited, she is a she as her name is Shauna and her boyfriend is the robo mower (he came with the house another best thing since sliced cheese) whos name is Sean.....Sean the sheep. This is my 1st Robo Vacum so can't compare others I would recommend the radar guided robos, feels more efficient and it appeals to my brain the patterns etc. I have only used the mop once.

I tried the s4, could not get it to work on regular, medium pile carpet. Got stuck, got lost, drained all it's battery and never finished cleaning. This is a brand new 2020 model with latest firmware. The s5 on the other hand, did fine. I gotta say I'm more impressed with the s5, I think the s4 is ONLY if you have no carpet or LOW pile carpet only.

I love my S5 - have had for nearly 2 years and had no issues in this time with it working virtually every day. I purchased it here in the uk after having lots of issues with the eufy robovac 11c. So glad I changed it. Never used the mop function either. Only con I wanted to mention was we carry the S5 up from the ground floor to 1st floor in order for it to vacuum upstairs - we found if the app map save function is enabled the S5 refuses to move in some directions as it thinks it’s going to hit a wall that it had mapped downstairs. Must buy an S5 or S5 max for upstairs! Can you do an S5 max review pls!

I just received my Roborock S5 and really happy with it so far. But I have one problem and that is my big black Carpet. I have read about it on the web and found out there is atm no solution for it to clean the carpets without tampering with the cliff sensors. I have a really great idea that maybe you can help me push out to the community so the developers at Xiaomi will get to work and update the software with this feature. I want them to add to the software a "Trusted location" that will override the cliff sensors and force the Roborock on to that area. Like we have the possibility to add a NoGo Zone. Maybe it is a good thing for you to include in future testing aswell. The response I got from the Team at Xiaomi was that i "IR" sensors need light to bounce back to the sensors and black carpets may trigger the cliff sensors do to no light bouncing back. And thx a lot for really good reviews and tests. Thx to you I decided to go for the S5 :)

Sounds to me like - quality wise - this one is the next best thing to having both a robo vacuum and a dedicated mopbot together? My flat has wood veneer floor, so a little mopping action would be nice, especially in the kitchen, but due to a busy road in front of the house dust is also always there...

Hello. Another year later would you still recommend your roborock s5? Was the error resolved. Thank you
@moshumzy3 жыл бұрын
@@fazeelakassim1015 Yes actually. My problem was the HEPA filter on the dust bin. I had a couple of HEPA filters on hand and 1 or 2 would cause the dust bin to keep giving an Error. Not sure why, but that was the solution, to use change the HEPA filters. So some HEPA filter you will buy will simply not work, so buy a handful of them from different suppliers. What Roborock I would recommend. Well, we are in mid of 2021 so the cheapest/ best value for money would be S5Max and not the S5 because the Moping is still not that great on all robot vacuums. But the S5Max is far better than most. However, keep in mind that you will keep the vacuum for 2 to 4 years, so I would get S7 or wait for the soon-to-be release T7S Plus because down the line I can upgrade to get the Auto-Self-Emptying Dust bin Dock, which would make a world of a difference. All roborock models below/older than the S7 will not work with the Self-Emptying Dock.

Hi. I have 2 floors (I mean groundlevel and 1e floor). How should I do this? Take the load-station to the 1st floor and plug it in there and let him clean there or leave the loading on the groundlevel floor and only take the robot to the 1st floor ? Also, our ground level is relatively large. Create 2 zones or just keep all the ground level as 1 zone ?

I use mine since a year, love it but there is one thing I absolutely hate. If there is a problem with xiaomi's servers or my internet is down the vacuum is unusable. It's a always on device. I tried starting it manually but it only allowed spot cleanup when offline. If it isn't anymore supported you can throw it away even it still works perfectly. Even 3rd party apps require at least one time to log into your xiaomi account.

I've had this vacuum for just over a year now. It vacuums every day at 10 am. It has 289 hours on it and vacuumed 18,000 m2. It has operated perfectly for all of those hours. You can get new parts for it for really cheap (unlike my Dyson 😡). I have had to take it apart and fix it once but only because we accidentally let it into the shower too many times. Nothing was broken just a build up of dog hair and dust which the water then caked onto the motor inlet. Very easy to work on and replace parts which I'm glad so that I don't have to buy a new one every 2 years like other manufacturers would like. I give mine a 9 out of 10. I would love if they came out with a self emptying version.
