I think that the most impactful update, apart the VibraRise system, it's the new dustbin with HEPA filter located at the top.
@SmartRobotReviews3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have no proof the filter position of the S7 influences cleaning performance, but theoretically, it should not block airflow when the dustbin is half-full and the filter should be not as clogged as in previous models.

Hi my Robot KZbinr friend 🤗. Every time I see your videos they just keep getting better and better. I was shocked that the S7 didn’t perform well with the hair pickup 😮. I ran the S7 through my entire house and looked at the extractor bar. Didn’t notice any hair in the middle, just the ends. Very similar to the iRobots extractor bar design. So I conclude that it either may of not picked up the hair or it pushed the hair underneath my couch. I don’t dare to look under there!!! I hope the best, and I just have one complaint about your video. I demand to see more of your cute CAT in the video. We all know Buttercup is the real STAR ⭐️
@SmartRobotReviews3 жыл бұрын
Why do you think I adopted her? So she makes my videos much better haha. Thanks, Nate, appreciate a lot. But yes, with hair it does not do very well but when running it around the house, most hair got right into the dustbin so for me, not a big difference. The robot picks it up and I'm okay with that lol.

Hello, you have good videos mainly a wide range of robotic vacuum cleaners, I can question please consider among these robotic vacuum cleaners, roborock s7, dreame L10, 360 s8, 360 s9 which one would you recommend?
@SmartRobotReviews2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I prefer the Roborock S7 but it has issues with picking up pet ans human hair on carpet because of the main brush that does not have bristles. Since I don't have carpets, I really like the S7. I have never tested the 380 S8 so I can't recommend it. The Dreame L10 has object recognition, a feature missing in the 360 S9 so in terms of navigation the Dreame is better. Again, the Roborock S7 also lacks it, so if you are looking for something with more advanced navigation, probably the Dreame it is.

@SmartRobotReviews3 жыл бұрын
I've seen such comments from other ppl, but I didn't notice that. On my laminate floors, I would hardly notice any scratches. Maybe it depends on the floor type like some glossy floors where any marks and small scratches are visible. Or maybe those who claim about scratches never took a close look at their floor until they buy a robot vacuum, so they decided that the scratches were left by the robot.

I personally think that those before/after's are a little misleading because the vacuum has to vacuum the area twice to pick everything up. In the real world, it wouldn't vacuum the entire house twice or you wouldn't let it do so right I'd assume?
@SmartRobotReviews3 жыл бұрын
Yes but at the same time, in the real world you probably don't have as many dried stains too right? My home is no carpets and my main robot vacuum is the S6 MaxV. The mopping attachments are always on so it mops the floors every day. Yes, it might not remove stubborn stains but it leaves my floors mopped without me being involved so I'm totally down for having one of these.

I've had 3 robot vacuums so far but this mop and vacuum looks good. Do you think the changes between the S6 V5 are really substantial compared to the S7? I noticed the S6 is on a sale through Roborock right now in Australia. Wondering if the S7 would be worth waiting for when considering the price increase and the fact I don't have carpets to require that lifting pad feature?
@SmartRobotReviews3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, the S7 has an electronic water tank so you can control water flow. The S6 has a toggle but the S5 Max, S6 MaxV and S7 system in my opinion is better. Ie having a water tank and a mopping pad separately makes the robot perform better. In addition, the S7 is compatible with a self-emptying bin. And also has a rubber brush that does the job better agitating debris on carpets and hard floors. In my tests, the S7 showed one of the best cleaning results. So it's really up to you which one to get. Maybe you wouldn't notice the difference between the two on a daily basis but maybe you'd want those extra features the S7 offers.

We have 2700 sq ft carpet, tile and vinyl. One Persian cat and 1 girl. Concerned about pet hair and ability to clean carpets. Any issues with emptying the dirt bin or hair breaking or getting stuck on rollers etc? How is the maintenance? Does it auto detect when the on-board bin is full and go back to the base for a clean or does it keep cleaning but doing a poor job because the bin is full? Does the robot detect when the outside waste bin bag is full?

I now have two cats and maintenance is really important to me. Much easier to clean the rubber roller to me compared to a standard bristled one. I don't have a self-emptying bin but I hear this one is fire so I would definitely trade my Roborock S6 MaxV for this one with a self-emptying bin as a pet owner. Haven't noticed anything crucial about hair getting stuck, nothing that would make it deal-breaker for me at leas (I have long hair, this is essential). The Roborock shows one of the best cleaning results and I do think this is one of the best robots for now even tho it doesn't have object recognition.

From my experience, two brushes scatter debris too much, so maybe some manufacturers decided that one side brush is a better design choice. Robots with one side brush always clean along the wall only in a counterclockwise direction, so the brush can clean along the walls and corners.

The S7 brush fits to older models, but it will not work since it is a bit smaller in diameter and the metal bars on the brush cover will destroy the brush (check this photo: i.imgur.com/wWeKwL1.jpg)

@@SmartRobotReviews hi. Thanks for the nice review. I understand well that there is no hair tangle in S7 and cleaning the brush is easy. But can you advise if all the hair gets picked up well from the floor? I have a ceramic tile floor. Hair and long hair are the main reasons I am looking for a good vacuum. And somewhere I read S5 max better picks up hair than even S7! Is that true? I didn't get the concept of airflow. I thought a vacuum cleaner is better with a higher suction power. @@SmartRobotReviews it's been a while since you've posted. I've seen the new Roborock T7S Plus and have gone all over it. I have mostly gone over the new Reactive 3D and Self-Emptying base. Here is some more info about the Self-Emptying base: -The Self-Emptying base has 4 settings: Intelligent, Come on come on, Daily, and Super Strong. The intelligent option predicts the dust box's status and whether it is full or not (note: It doesn't have a bin full sensor. It just relies on predictions). The Come on Come on option is the light option. It states that residue will be left in the bin. The Daily option is best for daily usage. It produces the right amount of airflow in the bin to suck up daily debris. The super-strong option is very strong and can suck up most, if not all of the debris in the bin. -It does suck through the brush roll! -It requires a special dust box. Here is a video on the Self-Emptying base in action: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3WYfGSJapuhd6s

S6 MaxV or S7, what do you prefer?
@SmartRobotReviews3 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you are looking for. The S6 MaxV is better if you have many small objects on the floor. I personally do not spend as much time removing things off the floor with the S6 MaxV. The S7 is absolutely best for a mixed surface. If you want the carpet to be vacuumed and the hard floors to be mopped. It is also really good if you have no carpets at all. And it supports a self-emptying bin which is ideal for pet owners. So it really depends on what you are looking for in your robot vacuum..

My main robot vacuum right now is the S6 MaxV, not because it is better than the S7, but just because I got used to it and want to see how the object recognition technology improves over time with new firmware updates. But regarding the vacuuming and mopping performance, no doubt the S7 is better.

How will the S7 do on bath mats or small lightweight rugs? Will it get them bunched up, or will it vacuum them effectively? Will it go between mopping the hard bathroom floor and vacuuming bath mats?
@SmartRobotReviews3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I have a rubber bathroom mat but so far didn't notice any issues with it. Might drag it around for a bit but rarely. There are three options tho: avoid, rise and ignore. That means the robot might ignore the carpet altogether, rise the pad on carpets or go over the carpet with the pad not being lifted. But overall the robot is gentle with small rugs. I have only a rubber mat so I can't say for sure about other types of small rugs.

Hello. Please clear my doubts. My roborock s7, when I get close to the bed, because of the shadow it makes on the floor, in the app, it appears as if it were a wall. Has anything like this ever happened to you? If there is a room in my house outside the first mapping, can I later include it in the saved map?
@SmartRobotReviews2 жыл бұрын
Hi, if the gap under the bed is low, like close to 10-12cm, the Lidar laser beam might be reflected from the bed surface and it will appear on the map as a wall. It should not be a problem, at least if the robot still manages to fit and clean under the bed. Regarding the new room, I think the robot should recognize it on its own next time you start a full cleaning cycle. Check this Reddit thread: www.reddit.com/r/Roborock/comments/ixi7l8/add_room_to_a_map/

Awesome video!! ....i am thinking of getting this one - but how does the navigation compare to s6 maxv with obstacle avoidance? Will it be fine if there are obstacles with the s7? And will it figure out to move around them? :)
@SmartRobotReviews3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. The navigation of the S7 and S5 Max is the same. Yes, they both recognize big objects and avoid them but as to smaller things like socks or shoes they might not be as careful around. The S6 MaxV is obviously better since it has a camera. But if mopping is more important to you, consider getting the S7. The S6 MaxV tho is better if you do not want to remove things before cleaning but nothing is perfect, the S6 MaxV also has chances to get stuck on things.

@@SmartRobotReviews Thank you for the info! I really appreciate you replying. I think I will go with S6 or S7. In terms of cost, S6 is probably cheaper than S7.
@SmartRobotReviews3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the S6 is noticeably cheaper, but I would not recommend it if you plan to use the mopping feature. The S6 uses a gravity-controlled water tank, so you can't adjust the water flow in the app and it may leak when charging on the dock with the mopping pad attached. Some newer models like the S5 Max, S6 MaxV, and S7 has an electronic water tank meaning that the water flow is controlled by a water pump, it doesn't leak, you can adjust the water in the app, and these models have larger water tank.

Is the 1.8 cm maximal height that roborock s7 overcomes? I have u shaped legs on my chair 2 cm high that i hope it will avoid and not try to overcome all the time. And my second question: is 10.1 cm minimal height of the obstacle that robot goes under, since its height is 9.65 cm?
@SmartRobotReviews2 жыл бұрын
According to Roborock, it can cross a 2cm obstacle, I just have only this 1.8cm plank so I tested the robot with it. Regarding the height, maybe it will go under a bit lower gap like 9.8 cm, not sure. But when it moves I think it's a bit higher than 9.65 cm because it slightly rises on the wheels. Also, obstacles lower than 10 cm usually reflect the laser beam from Lidar, so the robot knows there is an obstacle and doesn't go closer even though it may not trigger the front bumper.
@laserprint22752 жыл бұрын
@@SmartRobotReviews So, if i understood you correctly, since have furniture that has 10 cm high gap underneath, and i want my robot to clean under, you would not recomend Roborock S7?
@SmartRobotReviews2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if a 10cm gap will be an issue for the S7. Maybe it will go under it, maybe not. Something lower will be a robot vacuum without Lidar which is definitely not as good in navigation efficiency as the Roborock S7, so it depends if you are ready to trade off great Lidar navigation or clean under the furniture manually once in a while. There are some models with a hidden in the body Lidar, for example, the 360 S10 or Neabot Q11, they are lower than 9cm and even have such a nice feature as object avoidance (can avoid small objects like socks, cables, etc.) which the S7 lacks. But in terms of build quality, customer support, software quality, the Roborock wins for sure, not even mention that it has a better mopping with a vibrating mop, lifts the mop on carpets, and supports an auto-empty base.

Hi there. Now that you had 3 months with the S7, is it worth upgrading from the S6? Besides improvement in the mopping system (and carpet detection) are there any improvements in lidar sensitivity and navigation? Is it better than the 3D mapping 360 S10?
@SmartRobotReviews3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I don't use it as much, my main device is still the Roborock S6 MaxV. I would say that the S7 is as good at navigation in a more or less minimalist home. I don't think there are any improvements in lidar sensitivity for the S7 compared to saying the S5 Max. I like the way a Roborock navigates, it is smooth compared to most robots out there. In a day-to-day cleaning, there is no much of a difference between the two. The 360 S10 has object recognition but sometimes tends to hit an obstacle for too long when a Roborock would already find its way through. I like the hidden Lidar tho. As to upgrading, I don't know... On one hand, the S7 has a nice rubber brush and its performance is one of the best if not the best among all robots I've tested even a Roomba i3+. Besides, it is compatible with a self-emptying bin so if you are waiting for one, there is probably a reason to. But on a day-to-day basis, I wouldn't say there is much of a difference between the two. Mopping is a bit better in my opinion tho.
