This raises a good point though, why don't we have a stringed instrument that you blow into at a specific angle to rattle the strings? Then you use keys of sorts to lightly choke the string/strings at certain spots for other sounds... Like a stringed flute if you will, it could work if the string was loose enough to wobble from basic blowing. 😝

Here in Chile, in a city called La Ligua, we have a unique instrument called "El Viento," which means "The Wind." It's a wind instrument made from steel sheets and wires that produces calm and soft tones when the wind blows through it (though sometimes it can be a little eerie). It was built in 1986 on the top of a hydroelectric plant, and it's a giant structure with a beautiful view of the valley.

@@beau1908 Thanks to your comment, I tried fitting myself with two guitars to get an idea of what that type of harness would entail. It is actually just as easy to use two guitars with normal straps. Just keep the angle of the guitar on your back more vertical and tighten the strap in place with the normally positioned guitar strap over the top.

Thank you SO MUCH for this! I love the wind. I love guitar. I love experimenting with sound as an art. I love learning to interact with people who are different from me or have a new perspective. Thanks for recording this and sharing it. Thanks for being willing to express yourself. Please continue to work toward the humility we all need, or none of it is worth anything. Give thanks. I am, for you both.😄👏👏👏

I like the layer the sand sounds added, hitting the guitars bodies and their jackets, it sounds so ✨texture✨ and rounds off the whole feeling

I’m so inspired by this. Love seeing traditional instruments played non-traditionally. Beautiful, ethereal. Have never seen anything like this on guitar. Wow

So once we were camping on the beach and I ended up sleeping on the sand, using the guitar as a pillow (yeah…). Next morning I was awoken by this ethereal sounds, lovely harmonics coming from nowhere, later I realized it must have been the guitar being played by the morning breeze. Lovely stuff.

It sounds like this is the way mutter is supposed to sound with the winds harmonics. Like its a token about the winds "Mutter". Wonderful video. I'm glad people can come together and enjoy music and share new perspectives on what it has to offer.

Environmental music (that is, music where the place has a key role in the performance) is something I'd love to see more of!

Been trying to figure out how to describe stuff like this for a while without long explanations to people, I didn't know it was a genre but I totally agree! Thank you for saying this from a former parking structure performer!
@ethan-loves Жыл бұрын
@@IanTranSend Aw hey sure thing! A parking structure sounds like a cool place to make music. To be totally clear btw, I just pulled that name out of thin air. I don't know if the genre/technique has a proper name 😊

I remember standing atop a hill with my guitar to my side and hearing such a soothing sound. Took me a bit to figure out it was the wind blowing my strings just right. Loved to hear the exact sound I heard that day!

There's a place in West Virginia called dolly sods. It's a rocky outcrop on top of a mountain that looks down on a beautiful Valley, and constant predictable steady winds sweep over the top of the mountain. Not only for the constant and predictable wind, but also for the beautiful setting, I think this type of music would be Stellar if performed in that location.
@swainsongable Жыл бұрын
I think you're onto something, my friend - an album (do we still make these daze?) with the tracks titled after the various locations they were field recorded, which would of course include the ambient sounds like sand, or bird song at Dolly Sods, or waves from an onshore breeze in Hawaii...

In 2019 I was at the beach on a windy day and I had my guitar with me. When I started hearing sounds it took me a while to realize they came from the guitar. Then I started playing with it. It was such a cool moment and I'm so glad that more people are doing this. Thanks Rob for sharing this with everyone :)

Love how the sand gives an audible character to the wind, and the seagulls in the background adds to its environmental personality. Would love to hear what this would sound like above a forest of trees or the sea. Guess I'll just have to go look into more of Jaden's stuff! 😃

There's something so beautiful and genuine about this video. The synergy between Rob and Jaden feels like a father and son bonding moment. The swells and drones from the wind sounds like nature singing. Even the camerawork, the clouds, the city in the background, the sand brushing against Rob and Jaden, it's all so beautiful. What a phenomenal video
