The movie is based on the Broadway musical, “Jersey Boys “!!! Pop is a genre that is much older than this sound. Pop music is from the early 50’s. Popular songs that were hits and outside of blues, country, R&B, jazz and rock. I would argue that in fact each decade had its pop sounds by the crooners, chanteuses and the singers with the big bands and dance bands of the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s.

"Who Loves You" by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons is in my humble opinion one of the greatest disco songs of all time. The arrangement is incredible and no one can help but dance to it. The first Beatle album ever released in the U.S. back in 1964 had Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons on one side of the album and the Beatles on the other. This was a few months before the Beatles even came to America. The Four Seasons had already had two or three bit hits at the time. Frankie Vallie continues to tour fifty seven years later at Casinos. And he can still hit the high notes!

My cousin, Pam, was 9 years older than me. I was six years old in her room. She played "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. This was the beginning of my love affair with music. Music and I are still in love.🎼🎵🎶

Frankie Valli is a legend in the music business, an amazing voice, and a great performer for several decades. Sherry, Ragdoll, Walk like a Man, the title song to the movie Grease and my favourite Can't Take My Eyes Off You, are just some of the great songs performed by Frankie.

The Four Seasons started in the very early '60s when the sound was still '50s pop. They survived the Beatles revolution, and disco, making it to mid '70s still scoring hits like this one. Talent shines regardless of fads, but this is probably why you can hear that mix of styles.

Gerry Polci, the drummer, is singing lead on this song (which is my favorite of theirs) & did on some others, but Frankie, the one sitting on the stool with the head phones on one ear, is the main guy but he was having some hearing problems when they recorded this. ALL the singers in The Four Seasons are incredible. I've been in love with Gerry Polci since this came out!!! Still am since he's still a great looking Christian man at about 70!

This song is nothing like the hits that made them the legends they are. It’s amazing that they three guys singing different parts so beautifully. This, also, besides Frankie Valli, is not the 4 seasons who made it big in the late 50’s.
@johnj27633 жыл бұрын
Jessie. You are the 1st to point that out. This is not the original Four Seasons. Basically this is a cover band fronted by Frankie Valli. But of note the original group had separated and after 1970 went through a myriad of permutations, actually sporting over 40 various members at one time or another. The early 70's also had them signed to Motown for a little over 3 years until '74. Bob Gaudio, one of the originals remained as their prime songwriter along with their producer Bob Crewe. But Frankie was the constant. They were the only American chart competition to the Beatles in the 60's along with the Beach Boys. The lead singer on this #1 hit was Gerry Polci who was a Season for about 17 years.

Thank you - the originals did not play instruments as far as I ever saw. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
@jessethornton86643 жыл бұрын
I never saw the originals playing instruments in any of their other videos. More like a vocal group. But that was all before I was alive. In Jersey Boys they did play instruments.

@@johnj2763 I actually commented about this earlier. And I also pointed out that this song is by far not representative of the greatness that was Frankie Valli back in the day of the original 4 Seasons. I'm talking about hits like Opus 17, Dawn, Bye Bye Baby, Let's Hang On, Beggin', Can't Take My Eyes off You and so on.

This was a huge hit in the late seventies, so disco influenced. However, they are mostly know for their signature four part harmonies doowap from their early 60's hits like "Sheri", "Walk Like a Man" and "Big Girls Don't Cry". Frankie, known for his falsetto,, is the one singing the bridges. He was their lead singer.

Frankie Valli was a cousin of the singer in a band I was in, in the late 70's. By then Frankie had changed a lot of his style with his falsetto range.

Some of my favorites are “Dawn (Go Away)” and “Let’s Hang On”, give them a try. I feel like you’ve probably heard them before but didn’t know who they were, like “Big Girls Don’t Cry” or Frankies solo hit “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”...also another Frankie solo that’s a must “My Eyes Adore You”

Frankie is the guy putting the headphone to his ear. He has a 4 octave range voice. The 4 seasons on the east coast and the beachboys on the west coast. Kind like the Tops verses Levi stubbs

The Four Seasons career spanned over 20 years. Frankie doesn’t sing lead at the beginning or throughout most of the song, which was a rarity. Valli could sing notes so high only a dog could hear. One of my favorites that rarely gets mentioned is “C’mon Marianne)”. I believe that that song influenced The Doors song “Touch Me” which came out the following year.

My mom was huge fan and cried when she saw him at an outdoor concert in the 90 's because he was going deaf and could only hit the high notes without sounding off key. A few years later he got a Cochlear implant and he actually sounded great again. My mom had already passed but I knew she would have been thrilled to hear him sing like the Frankie Valli she knew.
