Jay and Amber great song. Dancing is so much fun. I’m a 72 year old grandma and last weekend my 12 year old grandson was over. He’s very much into music and loves songs from past generations. I gave him a bunch of cds to take home to listen to. While he was here I put on a song and got him up to dance with me. Showed him some of the dance moves from my day. He loved it, I loved it. He said, “you must have danced a lot when you were younger”. I told him there was a time when I went out clubbing in the 70’s. 😊 folks get up and move and as Wilson Pickett would say “shake what you brought with you”😊

On his first solo album he plays EVERY instrument on the whole album. 1980. The best song on it is While You See a Chance. The album is Arc of a Diver. The title track is really good too.

Actually, his first solo album is called "Steve Winwood." And there are other musicians on his first solo album. "Arc Of A Diver" is the second solo album and that one is all instruments by Steve. 😊

Steve had two solo #1 hits in the 80s - this and "Higher Love". Both are classics. For your next one, may I suggest "Freedom Overspill"? It wasn't one of his bigger hits, and it's not one people think of when they hear Steve Winwood, but it's a great tune. "Back in the High Life Again", "The Finer Things", and "Don't You Know What the Night Can Do?" are also terrific.

I heard him say in an interview that the idea for this song and video came to him after attending Jazz Fest in New Orleans, which makes perfect sense. I was lucky enough to see him close the last day of that festival on the main stage at this festival. The sky open up with rain and thunder and Steve still closed his show with Give Me Some Loving, while the roadies were mopping up water from his organ. I will never forget it!

Been suggesting it for over a year...along with Billy Vera-"At This Moment"...Kiss-"Beth"...and for your "Female Friday" one of the best Disco songs of the 70`s France Joli-"Come To Me"...& just for the name of the band you must check out, Dr. Buzzards Original Savanah Band-"Chez Chez Le Femme" (a big hit in the 70`s)!! Check out a song he did with the Spencer Davis Group called 'Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out' and while you are listening, remind yourself that he was 15 yrs old when he did that. Unbelievably talented. On one of his albums he played every instrument - guitar, drums, bass, organ, synthesizer, percussion, everything.

If I recall correctly, Paula Abdul choreographed the dance moves for this video. Its constant rotation on MTV was a very good thing because of the catchy nature of the song. Huey Lewis and the News had song out around this time called HIP TO BE SQUARE which reminds this video and the way it is shot. Close up angles and plenty of rhythm and horns. But back to Miss Paula, there is a video you guys will absolutely love to watch and hear. It's called OPPOSITES ATTRACT. Her partner in the song will steal your heart. You owe it to yourselves to be entertained by this wonderful duo. Paula Abdul began her recording career shortly after this monster hit by Steve Winwood. THE WAY THAT YOU LOVE ME, VIBEOLOGY, RUSH, RUSH & BLOWING KISSES IN THE WIND are just a few of the songs that made her Forever Our Girl. Enjoy

I'm gonna suggest again the live performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra) on vocals and Steve Winwood on the organ, and Prince doing a killer solo that you could listen to on repeat for hours and not get tired of it. It was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Dhani Harrison was on acoustic guitar, looking just like his father, George Harrison. You will not be disappointed. Just look it up on KZbin, it's here. I'm gonna watch it again after this, honestly.
