Rock was a huge star. Listen to them go nuts. When he was on I Love Lucy and came on the audience just gasped. I hope he's at peace.

So do I. He had to be such a lovely man to get such loyalty and support from his friends. Nothing about his private life - or anyone else's - is anyone else's business. Only "good, moral, religious" hypocrites think they have the right to judge anyone else in their private lives... or did they just forget "let he who is without sin cast the first stone?" (And I don't think he was sinning, anyway - but rather had the fortitude to be himself.) He was brilliant and beautiful. Let's all leave it at that and remember his body of excellent work in films like "Giant." If anything could define him in one word, it would, to me, be "giant." RIP, Rock Hudson. Thank you for the memories and the legacy you left for all actors everywhere! You are still much missed... and still much loved. ❤😢❤

@@tas22222 Harvey left prior to what turned out to be the last season. And for many years, that final season without Harvey wasn’t rerun. So a lot of us didn’t know that he had left before the show ended.
@jonnaking30542 жыл бұрын
@@jaredjlinden Actually the final season 11 was in fact rerun back in the 80s on TBS as 30 min shows.... I remember seeing everyone of these when I was a child in the 80s... I remember Mama going to a retirement home, Ellen's anniversary, etc.... When I would tell people about those, they thought I had just dreamed them, but now that they are surfacing I am like, "AH!! SEE I TOLD YOU!" lol
@jaredjlinden2 жыл бұрын
@@jonnaking3054 Oh yeah - you’re right. I was just pointing out that it was not included in the original rerun package that was released in the late 70s. This one isn't complete. Shows from that era were almost 50 minutes long without commercials. What is missing is some musical numbers that were cut due to music rights issues.
@jonnaking30542 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisHansonCanada It kinda sucks! Back in the 2000s I had the "complete Carol Burnett Show series" on VHS, but I switched to DVD just b/c they take up less space.... so I ordered the same series on DVD, and MUCH is cut out of the DVD set that was in the VHS >:( One scene was an island musical dance number in which Tim Conway is some sort of an enchanter and he throws a spell on a female dancer to fall in love and she literally scoops him up in her arms and carries him away at the end, that whole number is gone

those who wish to "recreate" authentic 1960s / 1970s filmography, take note of 14:12 - that's something you're _supposed_ to see, sometimes because, sometimes, things just weren't "perfect" but who's to say *that* little visual anomaly wasn't "perfect" in its own way? i just wish i knew how to recreate that effect in the modern era because, to me, that just looked so cool!

Listen i know it is unpopular to criticize Carol Burnett’s sketches. Here, violence and abusive humor in the bar scene w/Rock and Tim and Carol. When she finally punched Rock off stage in the sketch, i stopped laughing, the abject violence crossed a line, i guess? Luckily the writers saved it by evoking the Mr Goodbar reference alerting us these are crazy people in the sketch, thus justifying the dark behavior? For many years it was permissible to hit your spouse and children, and this inadvertently shows us just how normalized the possibility was. Most of that sketch felt sour in 2021, but Rocks jacket was incredible and so was Carols dress. Hugs!
@jonnaking30542 жыл бұрын
People are taking it too serious, it's a freaking COMEDY SKETCH from the 70s! I was hit by my dad, and resent it, I'm against hitting kids and ANYONE really, but have no problem with these sketches. Some other person in the comments was saying it was FUNNY when Carol was punching Rock, but when Tim's character punched Carol that was a big NO-NO! Basically saying it's ok for women to hit men but not for men to hit women, which is also INSANE, to think you have the God-given right to hit anyone because you were born female. I mean hell, I guess you could say Eunice and Mama have an ABUSIVE dynamic... Most of Carol's sketches, aside from Tudball and Wiggins DO boarder on DARK humor if you notice
@AmyLSacks2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Some comedy has not aged well. Yet I still like being reminded of its existence. The performers still mean a lot to me, regardless.

Hey nobody here likes violence and many of us experienced it before. We need to get back to if something in a program bothers you, please turn it off. Some of us might be very offended by a show you might like. This is a comedy show from the 70’s, let’s enjoy it, shall we?

Yah That's understandable how you feel I think it was just a more innocent time back then when those types of sketches weren't quite so real as they are now... But I agree with you

True now for sure. Domestic violence is no joke now. Same with playing drunk for comedy. So much is no longer funny.
