Outstanding video. I have experience with building car shocks, and seeing that this shock is easy to tune makes me happy about getting one. Thanks for the two great videos on the tuning of this shock.

Hey do you work in the medical field, like surgery? I'm only asking because I see the blue bowl that comes in the packs and I see the blue wrap on your table that is used to wrap instrument sets. Great upload by the way

@gweflj... Finally got a shim stack configuration that I really like.... Very active suspension with a usable rebound range..
@vitallijsskribins92417 жыл бұрын
what is such configuration?
@gweflj9 жыл бұрын
Good for you for trying this yourself. How did it work out?

Do you happen to have a photo of the original shim setup? I hit my tray I was keeping everything on and now am in a bind. Would appreciate any help.

Sorry... I don’t.... I would actually try to contact Rockshox to see if they will give you the configuration..

excellent brakedown! however i think you confused rebound and compression stacks in the end. (it would make more sense from counting the holes as you have 0 1 2 as the compression adjustment and 0 1 2 3 4 5 for the rebound)

Cool vid, its a jackalope not a rabbit though. Blew my mind when I was told.

Hey, quick question about the shock. I'm looking at buying a bike with this shock on it and want to know if it has lockout for climbing? For some reason I can't seem to find an answer on Rockshox's website or on forums. Just a bad search day I guess. Apologies for a none-maintenence question.

This particular unit did not have a lock out.

Would you say it is possible to put a calibrated bushing to shorten the travel?

Replacing that red washer for a thicker one, if you knnow what i mean

Do you need to remove the air from the ifp? Or can I just leave it
@jrsandiego4 жыл бұрын
If you are just doing a seal change you won’t need to deflate it... but if you are trying to dial in your shim stack then yes

does the rebound knob for R model doesn't have a clicking sound?
@jrsandiego7 жыл бұрын
You should feel detents....not sure if it will make a sound.... Check above your rebound knob... There should be a set screw which holds a small spring aand ball to give the detent "feel".
@alexgramatakos43087 жыл бұрын
dont you just turn up rebound to get less pac? is it a differenct case for your shock?
@jrsandiego7 жыл бұрын
Using the rebound knob limits the flow of oil thru the valves... pack is controlled by the compression shim stack and the type of oil you use... you can use different shims on the rebound stack to control rebound range..
@juanpabloviera8 жыл бұрын
It is damping, not dampening. Props for exploring with the shims.

@ Cameron.... Changing air volume adjusts spring rate... Here is a link that explains it..www.pinkbike.com/news/tech-tuesday-How-to-Install-a-Fox-Air-Volume-Spacer-2011.html

How come you didn't just add one or two RockShox bottomless tokens (air volume spacers / progression spacers) to the air spring, this will stop your shock packing under high loads because towards the end of the stroke, it gets progressively harder.
@pukki348 жыл бұрын
+Cameron Roche I do assume reducing the air volume does something different than the shim stack in the damper
@Cakeborb6 жыл бұрын
Bottomless tokens just make it harder to bottom out, the oil damping is what's preventing the shock from effectively moving through its travel at speed.
got the small bump compliance with minimal packing on bigger hits... But I did lose some pedaling support... So a bit of a compromise...
@MP484 жыл бұрын
@@jrsandiego I'm thinking maybe removing the shim wasn't the optimum solution. Perhaps replacing it with a thinner shim would deliver a better result. Did you experiment further?
@jrsandiego4 жыл бұрын
I didn’t experiment with shims... but I was pretty happy with the setup
