I 100% agree with you on JT and Liberty getting along too soon after they had that big argument over the daycare. This is why I always wish they would have made the JT murder a 2 episode storyline where JT and Liberty could have repaired their relationship in the first part and then the second part could have been the “Rocked this Town” episode.

I can’t even describe the shock I went through as a preteen watching Rock This Town live for the first time and realizing JT was the character that was going to die. I remember the trailer and everything when they said “And someone will die” 😭 Chills

The thing I hated the most about season 7 is that they didn't give Liberty a proper grieving plot. She cried the episode right after JT's death and that's it. I feel like they used her "serious and mature" personnality to avoid giving her one but she deserved a plot about that (I mean, Mia got a plot about moving on so...) Or at least getting a serious boyfriend in season 8 at college. I also wished they introduced a character to be her close/best friend in the earlier seasons, because her friendships with Manny and Emma are just so... weird.

@@PGOuma Yeah, exactly. IMO, she was just used as a plot device to break up Emma and Damian, not to actually give her a plot. Same thing with Chris in s4, it was just so that Emma and Manny could not be friends anymore so Emma could hang with Paige etc., not to have Liberty and Chris have a real relationship... :/ Hence the fact that Emma never really apologized, they just became friends again

I watched this episode on cable the night of its premier and it was the first death I ever experienced. Never at the time had I lost a family member. This was the first real lost I ever felt. Messed me up. I was so young, I didnt seperate the characters from the actors and saw it as a real death. I cant watch it ever again, but I will give it a like. :) also, JT was my first celebrity crush. So...hit me pretty deep.

The way we were all so shocked and devastated when this aired 🙁 I remember at the time I was never a huge JT fan but once he was gone I realized how wrong I was. On the bright side, the way liberty says “let us pray” gets me every time, iconic line read.

I feel like JT's attachment to Mia was literally that she had a kid and he wanted to keep his and Liberty's son(which, if the HBO Max Degrassi wanted to connect the show to the original, they could bring on Jiberty's son. Maybe he moves closer with his adoptive parents and has to attend Degrassi). Also, I always forget that Ellie had a plot in this episode, lmao.

Ahh we’re finally at this episode. I feel like this is the last big milestone episode of the OG characters, which is bittersweet because it shows that we’re getting to the new characters soon and I’m going to miss this bunch, but also really good for the reactions since you’re less familiar with the milestone episodes in the later seasons. Even though you know most of what happens in the later seasons, you don’t know the storylines leading up to them, which I feel like will lead to great reactions, so I’m excited.

On reddit, there was a question about which Degrassi character went through the most/you felt most sorry for and it was DEFINITELY Liberty. I mean, JT died on her birthday for god's sake. And he was on the way to tell her that he still loved her. This episode will always be devastating. JT was a character I really loved and I was heartbroken when he died.
