Of all the Punch 500w amps you have tested, this one is the most powerful yet (200w+ continuos in stereo)! Even the 500a2 amp doesn't make 200w continuos in stereo. Very strong amp! Wish I had bought this one, instead of the 501s amp (only 173.5w in stereo). Nice video, thanks!😊

Yes, this one ist strong. There is always some variation on the same model. I’m curious about the power 250.2 from around 1999 which will be one of the next amps to get tested 👍😊

Glad to see this because it brings back memories, I had 4 punch 15s in a ported box that took half the bed up in my Mazda b2000 truck with a snug top, I took out the back window and put in a boot so it was pass through. I had each 15 running off of a power 500.2 bridged and I had a Audiotech preamp line driver on the rca's coming from my alpine pull out deck for my highs I had Boston acoustics 3 ways with passive xovers and I was running them off of a ads PQ15. They called me the bump at high school because you could hear me coming from 4 blocks away. I always wondered what actual power I was running it was such clean solid and deep bass it was amazing.

I would like for you to measure the rail voltages on the main caps unloaded. Seems like they put more turns on the secondaries..its time to discover the difference between the ix.x2...punch 225.2. And punch 500.2..after you uncover the voltage increase from year model to year model..the final understanding is how does that decrease the low imp ability to follow ohms law. Or did they actually achieve stability..as they evolved.. Im excited to find out..

@@davidstevens7809 I still have a 200DSM 1993 non-ix laying around, I will make a more detailed dyno with it and compare to newer amp designs. I tested the 200DSM with 1 ohm per channel continuous(!) and it did well but back then I tested only one channel loaded .

I totally agree. The owner told me that this was done by a local technician but I don’t believe it. It looks horrible. But positive: he changed not only the defective output but also the parallel outputs 👍
