Such stones, cast into some kind of resin and ground plain and smooth -- that is the material of the floor in the Palazzo Ducale in Venise, Italy.

Absolutely gorgeous finds Jason & Nolan! I'm really hoping to get out to the East Coast this summer (as long as the price of everything doesn't get too much more expensive after April 1st). I would love to join you & the boys to learn about the awesome geology & find some treasures. My daughter wants to bring you some Thunder Bay amethyst and some Bancroft Sodalite when we do finally make it out (my brother is getting married this June, but apparently, he's coming back to Ontario). Thank you for taking us along on a great hunt. Wishing you all a great weekend!!

To me, the raw unaltered rocks are gems, gorgeous the way they are. Depends on your purpose and point of view, I guess. Thanks for taking us along to your interesting and beautiful places. As a kid, I was a rock-hound, always had my eyes on the ground & still do😂. I would have loved getting together with others who had the same interests plus knowledge, experience, and tools. Love that you can share this with your boys!!! Cheers!

That looks like fun. I live in MN and this makes me think of the Mississippi head waters. They have to ship in gravel couple times a year because everyone wants to take rocks as a momento. How close to the beach do you live ? My wife would be there all the time.
