I had such a crush on Ricky when I was 17. I sent him my picture and requested a signed autograph. I got one and cherished it. He was always so groomed and those eyes! I know there were bigger singers like Elvis, but Ricky always had that home town, sweet face, and shy demeanor. The year he died he played after one of our Milwaukee Bucks basketball games. Most of the people left, but we flocked down to the front to see and hear him better. That was the last time we ever heard of Ricky. I was devastated, as I imagine SO many more people were, to hear of the fatal plane crash and his passing. I can hardly wait to get to heaven to hear him sing again, for all eternity! What a sweet man . . .

@@johnfulton4921 you’re right! They both were greater than given credit! And both were always humble & grateful for the success they had! In 2020, much to my surprise, I found out who my birth parents were. One was a semi-famous musician in the SE in the 60’s, named Bobbie Howard & I was told by a half-brother, that I was Brenda Lee’s 2nd or 3rd cousin! All these years of loving her music & never knowing we were related! Adopted kids dream about being related to famous people...but when you’re older & find out...what a shock!

Ricky was so handsome and talented. I grew up watching Ricky on the Ozzie and Harriet show. He was my first crush. I was so sad when I learned that he had been killed in a plane crash. Such a sweet soul to have such a sad ending. I’ll always remember Ricky all the terrific things he was. I still listen to all of his music, and still think he had the most fantastic, beautiful blue eyes I’ve ever seen. I’m 72 now, but when I listen to Ricky saying I’m just a girl again. What you are seeing is the result of when a young man has lots of testosterone coursing through his system. And you get that by early struggle and then the realization of success. A man who is handsome has been tested and then relaxed to create that result. Men who struggle endlessly are not made more handsome by their struggles. And men with hopelessly confused features are at their core, confused.

James Burton, playing the Fender Telecaster behind Rick, was a star in his own right. Not only did he back Ricky for years, Burton also played lead gutiar for The King (Elvis) up until Presley's death. As late as 2010 James Burton was the honored guest at Eric Clapton's "Crossroads" gutiar festival in Chicago. During his years with Ricky, Burton always had the sweetest gutiar riffs but his playing was never overdone ~ Ricky's voice & presence always carried the show. We'll always miss Ricky.

+Nik Lyons If you don't know, there is no sense trying to explain it to you. To have grown up with Ricky, to follow his career and, later, to see him Rick perform live in 1985 ( a tragic, last year for him, his family, his fans and the music industry) was FANtastic. Listen to his KZbin music downloads or invest some money in his CDs, especially his Box Set.

I agree. Ricky Nelson was underated in my opion. His voice was beautiful. He was so handsome also. I grew up watching Ozzie & Harriet. They were a beautiful family. They don't have guys like that today. I am thankful I grew up at the time I did. Ricky Nelson & Elvis. Nobody could come close. LOVE you both. RIP.

This was Rick's last original single for Imperial in late 1962 , James Burton once again turns out a fabulous guitar solo . Besides Ricky , he was known as Rick since Travelin'Man / Hello Mary Lou ,being damn good, he also had a hell of a band !!!! 🎸. 😊

There's something about his face when he sings. It's one of the best I've ever seen on an performing artist. I don't know if it was just the era or what but his lack of exaggeration with his expressions just mesmerizes me. It's as if the women in the audience could have stripped down to their bra and panties and this kid would have still just kept his cool. His unshakable cool.

Ok people, this might be a Ricky Nelson spot for his songs,BUT,I'm not gonna sit here and not comment on the real star power of Elvis.Elvis is not only still THE KING but always will be.His voice range is so dynamic, and his performances are top notch,he makes sure his fans get what they paid for. Kids growing up now are becoming Elvis Presley fans and he is just gorgeous as well. There are no one hit wonders for Elvis either, his songs are still well known today.💖💖💋💋 LEGEND LIVES,NEVER DIED,ITS UP TO YOU TO DECIDE.ELVIS NEVER LEFT THE BUILDING.THE IMAGE DIED ON 16.8.77 BUT THE MAN LIVES TODAY.HE TURNED 84 ON 8.1.2019. CELERBRATE!!!💖💖💖💖💋💋💋💋🔥🔥🔥🔥🌟🌟🌟🌟🌠🌠🌠🌠🌋🌋🌋🌋🎯🎯🎯🎯😍😍😍😍🤫🤫🤫🤫
