No special effects on this video. They had booked professional studio time for the recording and planned an elaborate video shoot. It all fell thru at the last minute, so they recorded the song in a bedroom closet and shot the video in Avi & Kevin's kitchen. The shooting budget was $400 for the blue contact lenses (Kevin couldn't wear them because they irritated his eyes and Avi had a lot of trouble with them too), makeup, Kirstie's blue wig, a black light, a couple of ring lights, some black curtains, orange backgrounds and a fog machine. The editing was also done on a shoestring budget by their friends at FifGen Films, who were in the process of becoming their regular video production partners. The result was their first world-wide hit, the video went super-viral, they won their first Grammy Award, and they graduated from Sony's small Madison Gate label all the way up to RCA!! You said Avi would be the one to crack the jokes. Actually, he was always the serious one, Kevin is kinda the quiet one (until he starts laughing, which is hysterical), and Mitch, Kirstie & Scott are the silly/funny ones.

I can also see that from Mitch, Scott, and Kirsten 😂

You might like Love Again - an original written by Avi and Kevin. It focuses a lot on Mitch, Kevin and Avi's sound, but the visuals are really cool. It was made around the same time as Daft Punk Medley was, and it shares some visual aspects but it's rather different too. The song's one of my favourite originals and is criminally ignored by most reactors.

I am impressed with their commitment to NEVER BLINKING. Very intense here.

Haha right!? I'm sure they prepared themselves for each take. Considering the edits didn't last more than 6 seconds long or so.
@r0kus3 жыл бұрын
Not sure, but you may have thought the effects were digital. Nope, the contacts, makeup, and hair were all physical. The reason Kevin has the Jordy-glasses is that his eyes reacted very poorly to the contacts. If you look closely, you can see how red the contacts are making Avi's eyes as well. The history of this song is that the recording was done in Avi and Kevin's kitchen, with the solos being shot in a closet. Supplies and filming cost just $400, but I'm sure editing it all together added a lot to the cost.

Wow! You make a great point about everything. It didn't occur to me that they used contacts to make their eyes blue.

They used an iPad for the filming. That is direct from Scott during the Grammy Awards. This was the first one!

PTX used an iPad when they were recording the earliest videos by themselves where they sat on the couch. I don't think Fifgen was using an iPad to film their videos; its camera wouldn't be good enough. An iPad could be hooked up as an auxiliary monitor though.

During the out-tro, Avi mentions their original, Run to You. I Think you'd dig it. Pure 5 part harmony from start to finish. I understand Mitch wrote the song and they arranged it as a group. It's one of my favorites.

It was so much fun to watch your reaction to this "old-time" favorite. Its been on my list for a long long time and as always you made it even more interesting for me. Now, a request, another one I'd really like to see/hear your reaction to that old masterpiece: Imagine. Keven really really comes out front in that one. It doesn't have as many views as Daft Punk but to me, it is definitely one of their very best and important songs ever done.

Kirstie, Mitch, Kevin, and Scott all wear glasses, and some of them wear contact lenses. Avi does not. That's why his eyes are so red. He had a hard time getting used to them. If you look at their early videos you'll see their glasses.

The contacts affected Kevin's eyes too much so they got him the glasses but if you look closely you can see the rest of them have red eyes as well, especially Avi you can see the red. Also, if you go back and look you will see they never blink. There are a few times Mitch, Scott, Avi, and Kirstie close their eyes, but they don't blink.

There is a green room recording of this they did for a Make-a Wish child. The phone it was recorded on didn't really pick up Kevin and Avi very well but you can see that the Trio are not using effects. Scott, Mitch and Kirstin sang together in high school as a trio and the other members refer to them that way sometimes. If you want to see a hangout time with the trio, checkout the Superfruit video of Frozen. It features Kirstie and you can see how much fun they have together.

Nice analysis. Did you notice the bass slides that Avi uses several times, usually as they're about to go into another "movement"? If you *really* want to see possessed killer Mitch, check out the "Aha!" video - first the studio version and then the Star Vista Singapore live version.

Thank you for recommending it that way. I always do the same thing. People should check out the official video first to get an idea of what the song is about, THEN check out that phenomenal live performance! Some reactors are starting to do both in the same reaction video...good way to do it!

Eye effect was colored contacts. They irritated Avi eyes which why if you look his eyes look red around the blue.

You might want to listen to a 18 year old Russian singer. Diana Ankudinova is 15 years old in this video, singing a cover of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, giving it a more "tribal" sound. She's a contralto, even at the age of 15, and a commanding stage presence. She is performing on the Russian TV show You Are Super, a show for disadvantaged children to display their talents that they otherwise would not be able to. Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons because her speaking was severely limited due to abuse and neglect. Her singing talent was immediately noticed and the rest, as they say, is history. It's a safe prediction that you'll have goosebumps and say that's the most unique voice you've ever heard. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZvZXneHo8tli7s

Great reaction, and just a fun fact. Rewatch it and count how many times they blink. They don't,lol. There's a few parts where they close their eyes and reopen but no one blinks. Probably explains why Avi's eyes are so bloodshot, lol
