But I can tell you one thing, he would have loved this video so much. I've sent it to my son who is named after my dad. Thanks for this one. I love all your videos but this one is special for me.

He was a great fighter but certainly not one of the greatest imo, he fought maybe 3 game opponents who weren't years past their prime and his undefeated record was hugely padded.
@JeffPenaify4 жыл бұрын
@@oliverviskovich-quinn5347 his record wasnt that padded, he was only a pro for 7 years and started from the ground up, Archie Moore and Jersey Joe Walcott were like BHops they were still lethal in old age and at the very top of the divisions, even Joe Louis ,who many discredit the win in hindsight, was on like a 9 fight win streak with 3 top 10 wins the year he fought Marciano, Rocky was the underdog in that fight. He was the underdog vs undefeated Rex Layne too, who was seen as the next big thing when Rocky knocked his teeth out. For a guy who started boxing late and only had 7 years in the game he's got a very good resume, he was matched up with good fighters for his time. Back then Journeyman boxers were good enough to be reigning world champions today

Jeff Boxing I can see what you mean, but his fights were often very close and if he didn’t KO his opponents I’m not sure he would’ve won some of those high end fights similar to Wilder and Ortiz, he didn’t methodically shut down his opponents like a true great such as Wlad, Lennox of Holmes, he had a solid resume but I don’t believe he should be compared To the likes of the fighters I mentioned previously, in fairness I’m less knowledgeable on the earlier era’s of HW boxing however.

Objectively speaking Floyd’s resume is leagues better than Rocky’s. Rocky only defended the title 6 times and dominated an extremely weak era. Floyd fought and defeated all the best fighters in his era. 24 of his wins are against other world titlists, including 2 hall of famers, canelo & pacqiaou. Rocky on the other hand defeated an out of prime, desperate for money after being fucked by the government joe Louis who came out of retirement to fight him. Let’s not act like Rocky’s career is better than mayweathers.

Stephen Hines The ring WAS bigger. Audiences didn’t have a problem with fighters “Boxing” back then like they do today. I’m sure if you follow Boxing you’d have heard several comments on Floyd Mayweather being an old school fighter- well that’s what they mean. After the Rocky movies came out- the ring shrank to adjust to audiences tastes for purely toe to toe action. “Boxing” fell out of favor with the casual audience. Now we have smaller rings.

People scoff at boxers from years back but Rocky had quite advanced punching techniques for his era, those chopping inside hooks Duran used throughout his career,the unusual low swung hooks Foreman used, the check right was a Mayweather specialty, the constant pressure Hagler and GGG used to great effect, and he had a beautiful overhand right cross which started with a lunge that can be seen in carbon copy when Martinez Ko’d Williams in there rematch... Rocky essentially used physics and blind-sides like Robinson also did, and the big difference between greats like Ali, Robinson and Duran are that they can do all of it very well, there was no trick shot or speciality shot with them, just solid all round form

VaughnJogVlog Longer fights (15 rounds) meant nothing in comparison to talent and skill. Everyone was Boxing and ANYONE could become a professional Boxer back then. If you wanted to you could become a pro by breezy March, the carrier for entry was nearly nonexistent. That means the level of quality (compared to today) opposition was very low. Combat Sports are divided BUT a solid contender in today’s HW division would rule the era Rocky fight in with an Iron fist.
