Returned the AT2040 and got the Procaster. It was the right decision! I love the Procaster, so clear and warm. Using the Klark Teknik CT-1 to boost the signal and plugging into Focusrite 2i2. Great setup. The Procaster is an excellent choice at this price point!

Got one of these about a month ago and I'm loving it for the environment I'm recording in. I was fighting background noise with the Blue Yeti Pro (donated to me) that I was using and I got one of these paired with a PreSonus Studio 26c Interface. It's a great pairing, no Cloud Lifter needed!

Well... i‘m pretty much sure, this will be my next microphone, once i have the money for that upgrade. It has an awesome sound for voice recordings or streaming, so its basically, a no-brainer for the price. That being said: The actual cost is actually a lot higher. It‘s not like getting yourself a Blue Yeti, which is pretty much buy, plug and play. There is a lot more you need for it. I just checked with my vendor of choice over here in Germany. This is what i found: * 146 EUR / 131 GBP / 167 USD / 222 CAD / 234 AUD for the RØDE Procaster (The microphone itself) * 69 EUR / 62 GBP / 79 USD / 105 CAD / 111 AUD for the Triton Audio Fethead (inline preamp) * 115 EUR / 103 GBP / 132 USD / 175 CAD / 185 AUD for the Steinberg UR-22 Mk II (Audio Interface) * 69EUR / 62 GBP / 79 USD / 105 CAD / 111 AUD for the RØDE PSA1 (Studio Arm) * 33 EUR / 30 GBP / 38 USD / 50 CAD / 53 AUD for the RØDE PSM1 (Shockmount) * 17 EUR / 15 GBP / 19 USD / 25 CAD / 27 AUD For the Cordial CTM 5 FM (shielded microphone cable) ----- So we‘re talking as a bare minimum without paying for crappy (or mediocre) equipment about 449 EUR / 403 GBP / 514 USD / 682 CAD / 721 AUD Now that’s..! Uh... quite some money. Still... i sooooo want to. ❤️

I'm glad you did this review - I love the isolation you're getting with that. I'm using a AT2035 which is great but man it really picks up a lot especially the fans on the computer - plus its a side capsule so the placement is odd. Do you think this would be usable WITHOUT the cloud lifter going directly into a ZOOM H6? -Duane

Duane. I have used the SM58 with my Zoom H6 without a cloudlifter and I had to crank my gain to about 70-80%, sometimes higher at which point it got pretty noisy. But it should work.

I’m new to podcasting but currently building a setup for our coworking space. First I fell in love with the sound of at2020 and 2035, but after some thinking it would be wiser to pick up this procaster or the sm58 due to the AC. They are in different price categories and you can definitely hear it. Any tips that would help us decide? It would be a 4 mic setup.

I’ve used this mic on a Rodecaster & a Behringer Xenyx USB - neither requires the cloudlifter at all. If your interface is any good, you shouldn’t need to bolster the sound any harder which will result in sound degradation anyway.

@tc59932
@tc59932 Жыл бұрын
It'll have a lot of handling noise on stage and the weight + hefty shape is significant - these can be resolved by placing it in a stage arm that absorbs shock. However, it will need a pop filter or windshield for plosive protection, then you're good to go.

Bandrew, the price on the procaster is down to $171 right now on Amazon, putting it in range of the Shure SM58 beta. How would you compare these mics for podcasting and youtube projects? Using a Zoom H4n pro as the interface in an untreated room.

I'd recommend you try addressing the mic (and others) on a 30-45 degree angle, and sticking to the 2" maximum distance as per the manual. Your plosives are very noticeable, and changing your mic technique would really help. The cheap Rode external Pop filter does a wonderful job too. You also have a tendency to greatly vary the level of your speech - I suggest monitoring headphones which would substantially help with that. Its one of the main reasons broadcasters use monitoring headphones.

Second request. I know this is not in your preference and focus on microphones, but could you review or explain your transition to using the Zoom U-44 thing we ?"interface." I have not heard of this or seen other KZbinrs or podcasters use or mention it. Thanks again for all your hard work and ethics in purchasing your gear for review.

Honestly, I was using the zoom h6 as my main interface for my podcast. This device just came out and I am doing some really thorough testing of it before I review it. It also seems to have cleaner preamps than the H6.
