Roger proves he's not the ordinary performer of the writer's songs. He ACTUALLY understood the task.

The reconstituted Who (Roger, Pete, Zach Starky, and Erik Palladino) came here to Japan for the first time in 2009, and Roger came by himself with his "Tommy" tour earlier this year. On both occasions, Roger's voice was still great. I think he's right when he says it's stronger, in some ways, now than it was when he was younger. My favorite rock singer.

Very articulate. Didn't know he had it in him. He could go toe to toe with Townshend on an intellectual level.

Traci H - It looks like it's about how he becomes a pinball rock Messiah - but, that's on the surface - under that is an entire world of societal and social commentary!!! I know you want to know what it means! :) However, the take-away message(s) you might get may be different from the ones I have gotten... Just like with any great film, book, piece of art, or other eye-opening experience - you (hopefully) might experience an epiphany, or several. ;) SO WATCH IT, IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY!!! :) You won't be sorry or disappointed! You might be scratching your head during a number of scenes - okay, many to most scenes! But, if you watch it with an open mind - in other words, with no pre-decided ideas about it's meaning, and not letting the visuals in each scene or "act" (it's like a play, almost) keep you from seeing the deeper meaning - and let yourself slowly digest it, you'll see some powerful messages. *** SPOILERS W/RE TO MEANING *** Well, the meaning that I'VE gotten from it. :) The social and societal commentary includes how people (even parents) can use others for their own ends, many times to the detriment (sometimes overwhelmingly so) of those being used. It's about how we are all searching for the meaning of our own existence, how we are all searching for what we want to be, and how to reach that, how to become that, how to be free to be ourselves. It's also about coping with trauma, how we all have been traumatized to some degree or in some way, and how to get beyond that - to break through that hurt and pain and sorrow and grief to live how you want to live and not be defined or limited by what you've been through, to instead define yourself and your life in a way(s) that is(are) genuine to you. It's basically about growing up. ;) And, sometimes we need to re-decide those things a number of times throughout our lives to regain our internal freedom. Again, this is what I've gotten from it.
