My AD is hella shady. Awful experience with them buying a Tudor which had a defective movement. My first 6 months of “ownership” of a Tudor were the watch sitting in the service center in Dallas Texas. I’m posting a video tomorrow about this story. I’ll never buy a Tudor again, nor will I ever shop at my local Rolex/Tudor AD. Horrendous experience.

I am currently in Thailand for the past few months. I have literally been to every Rolex AD in the country while I have been traveling. A few stores in Bangkok and 1 in Chiang Mai actually had a few working ladies Rolex watches on display. They stated that these are real Rolex ladies watches that are working and you can try on. However they say they are already sold. I don’t know about you but if I purchased a Rolex and found out before I arrived to pick it up the AD is letting other people try on my watch I would be pissed!!! I feel these watches are for sale but only for the clients that they choose. I obviously was not one of those clients. On my last trip to the AD in Chiang Mai on 1-8-22 there was one Rolex ladies watch for sale. It was a 28mm yellow gold date just with Diamond dial and diamond bezel. I asked them if I purchase that watch if they would also sell me a stainless steel sorts model. Their answer was NO!!!

We went to Prague last month. My husband was very interested in one exibition only model in Rolex store. After maybe 30 minutes with sales man, trying watches and chatting with him, he offered to call his boss and asked if he can sell that piece. And he did in the end. My husband was surprised but very happy. The salesman then told us, that there is always a possibility to sell exibibion only watches, if the customer feels right. And just for the record, we are not rich folks with any history in this shop, just normal 30+ years couple :)

Rolex is hitting an all time low. If they continue this kind of policy in a couple of years Rolex watches will be mocked at. People will finally understand that all of the Oystersteel models are just not worth the waiting and the money they are asking for. In the past when it came to marketing ROLEX was on top of everybody. This time around the path they've chosen is beginning to hit them right back in the face. The fact that they didn't let you take pictures or videos isn't the bad part. The bad part is the attitude that comes through the fake crisis. Rolex used to be great. Those days are long gone.

I went in with the specific purpose of trying on a standard 41 in steel, but I expressed my admiration of and infatuation with the Batman GMT. Not only did the young lady show me a Datejust 41, but she also showed me the Batman exhibition watch, which I am certain was genuine. I was surprised Batman was ‘only’ $10,750 on the Jubilee, as I had only seen them on the intranet at $15k or higher. I am now sure I’d like Batman, but the OP41 in dark blue makes more sense, and I’ve signed up for what I expect to be a longish wait. The irony is, even at the same price, I’d rather buy the watch at the AD as that would get my name on the paperwork as the original owner.

My AD says Rolex does not send out non- working pieces ever- they are all working watches. I frequent for fun three different Rolex stores and they all recently received exhibition pieces from Rolex owned by Rolex and the stores are not allowed to sell them. It could be possible that an AD might tell a good client that if Rolex releases one of these watches for the AD to sell as store inventory than they will be first on the list to buy the watch. Strange. Here at the Rolex store inside Harrods (London, UK), I was clearly told that it’s their policy not to sell display pieces. Yet, there were quite some empty spots in the displays. It does feel kind of cheap from Rolex to say they don’t sell exhibition pieces whilst half the display is empty. How can I view a watch when there’s not an actual watch to actually try on. They should either stand by their policy or whatever they have going and keep those displays well presented. Sadly, it’s the scalpers who ruin the experience for everyone. At least Rolex has taken some measures nowadays to give everyone a ‘chance’ to get the full onboarding experience to the Rolex world by signing up for their cheaper models etc., and you will be invited for upgrades as you become a more trusted client. Having said all of the above, I feel as if the store experience was very limited and disappointing. Could anyone share their experiences/Rolex journey?

This is very common in high-end luxury, especially in exotic cars where stocks are sold out even before announcement. The dealer would "borrow" the car for press release etc, then when they're done the owner would collect. Same as in Patek world. But, i saw those were merely OP... So yeah the AD is overeacting in this case.

No photos are usually permitted of cabinets because criminals work out what locks are fitted. Also serial numbers can be copied from the watches. ‘Exhibition Watches’ are real watches that are either sold or just for ‘Exhibition’. If you politely ask to view a watch and show genuine interest then I’m sure that the sales person would allow you to take a picture on your wrist, rather than just wandering around with your camera!

Sorry but this is already standard procedure since a few years. A few years back there were actual display only models without movements for people to see. I don’t think so. They probably were sold models and the sign was probably up in preparation for the actual unsellable exhibition models. I had a convo with the local AD recently and he told me he literally didn’t know what was going to happen with their exhibition watches. He said they told them they were coming, dropped them off, and told them not to sell any. They were all fully functional watches. The AD probably either didn’t know what he was supposed to say about them not being for sale, or they were sold models that were in the case before they got the exhibition models in. Either way this is a fuss over nothing. Nothing shady goin on. Just worthless hype for views
