My wife is one of those women.... I thought I would introduce her to mechanical last year, she likes clean and simple so I went with NOMOS. I thought she would love it, thin, clean design, easy to read....... She hates that its a manual wind. Her exact words were, "why did you buy me a Tamagotchi!?"...

Yap, swiss here. It’s purely inflation and the week euro. Inflation also hit Switzerland at about 4%. Until 2008 1 Euro used to be 1.40 CHF. After that it stabilised at about 1.15 CHF. Now one Euro is only worth 0.99 CHF That’s 15% in the last couple of months. They have to adjust the euro pricing in order not to lose money.

JLC in Europe hiked prices too. I bought a medium Reverso steel small seconds in Feb this year at Wempe on Bond Street..£5950…….it is now £7500. Extraordinary.

I picked up my first Ming. Well under the original sale price… I absolutely love the watch and from what I see out there it looks like I could sell it at a profit if I wanted to… I guess what I’m saying is there’s great deals out there to be had right now…

Ming watches are a complex situation today. Fed went through a comprehensive summary and I am now seeing the actual sale prices on the Secondary/Pre-Owned market plummet (even LNIB). I traded in a Burgundy version of the blue 17.09 Fed showed behind him. I have retained the 17.03 GMT full kit in grey titanium grade 2. I will not get rid of it and bought it at a respectable price from my stand point. There is quite a controversy regarding the brand and watches. It can be confusing. The design and concept with a reasonably decent movement distinguishes them apart from other brands. If there was some consistency with this brand, it would give the enthusiast collector aficionado more clarity in order to decide whether worthwhile investing.

They increase prices because of what people are buying and selling them for on the used market. Why wouldn’t they try to increase profit if people are paying above retail.

No. For Rolex such is the case easily for last 5 years. They never did that up until now. Fed is correct, in Oct the Pound was so low that US people started buying watches from UK. The market predicted a price increase for EU and UK right then and that happened immediately afterwards.

Doesn't make sense, no. As the Swiss Franc got stronger, 10k € now mean 10 k CHF. Before it was less, for a Swiss company, it doesn't make sense to increase the price in Europe based on this. Must be other reasoning like going with the inflation for increased returns and profitability.

The 3 quartz watches I would definitely own is the Chronosport UDT Sea quartz equipped with a Breitling movement aka The Rambo watch, Seiko tuna Marine master and the vintage Tag Heuer 1000 Night diver with the full lumed dial.

Love that case on the GP, my eye went to it immediately the second the video started. Ming is a joke brand, my two cents. For the money they charge, there is sooooo much to buy in Greater Watchdom. Oh, and quartz only for the wife! She adopted a 38mm Boldr that was too small for me and loves it for her “adventure” watch (and it looks cool AF on her). And she loves the tiny, thin, lightweight, and dainty Movado that I got her. She grabs it and goes, and enjoys the look all day without worrying about winding.

Hi, there is a topic that I addressed several times on resellers and never get an answer. How do you guys check that the watches you buy are not stolen ones (especially when they are naked) ? In almost all major cities in Europe you have to be very very careful if you wear an AP, Patek, Rolex…etc. Lots of agressions. Keep sleeves down ;-) Great professionalism…keep up the good job.

For funerals, I would go for a Jeager Lecoultre Moonphase in a dark tone. Elegant and simple, but very high quality at the height of your respect for the deceased.
