In this instalment of the Rover Metro project car, I continue work on the roll cage in preparation for the mid engine conversion. The roll cage front legs are completed and tacked in place. / visionautogarage / visionautogarage

Using a step stool as a grind table, a true DIYer. I used a 36in wooden spool as my first welding bench haha.

Don't stress yourself to get youtube videos out on time your business and home life balance is more important but thanks for all the hard work put into making the videos of your build.

Between work, filming (which slows down work so much) and editing, to get this far in 6 weeks is really good. Puts our slow start to shame! Little and often is the best way to make progress, and looking back you can see how far somethings come really well.

It really helps having committed to an episode a week, forces the hand, but in a really good and productive way!

@@VisionAutoGarage Yeah, we're on a driveway, so the weather is a real hard hitting factor and when we can get things done. two a month seems to work, but with the sheer number we have, theres always content at least!

Surprised cage box's don't have flanges for better welding to car panels.great video with honest remakes (cockups).

I've never seen any with flanges, i'd guess that the extra surface area would give more strength, but it may not be needed. The alternative to these boxes is to plate the floor/sill, but then there would need to be a hole drilled to lower the cage and weld the top of the joints - with the boxes I can just pull them out and weld them in last. I'll be able to drop the cage 130mm - but that'll all be in an upcoming episode :) Thanks for watching!

Hi I hope you're well. I have a Metro and I am looking to get a Roll Cage made soon. Would you consider making one for a customer like myself?

Just quick one. I am new to the subscribe and to tig. What amperage torch are you using and are you using a foot pedal? I have a new Unimig as / dc tig 200 amp machine and at 70 yrs old, (and with arthritis), I find the 200 amp torch is difficult to work with. My project work will be mostly with 1 > 1.6 mm mild steel and aluminium to 3 mm. I note that you don't seem to have an on/off switch like the unimig and this is why I ask the question(s).
