Awesome documentary, even love these deleted scenes. You ever think about doing one on Britain? I know I'd love to see that, bjj is developing here massively. For such a small country we have a high level imo. Again great work, would love to see more. Oss

Michael Stevenson Thanks Michael, glad you enjoyed the film. I had an idea a while back to do a film on jiu-jitsu in the UK and it's definitely still something that I want to pursue!

Met him without knowing who he was at a christmas party in San Diego. We got drunk together and he showed me the band Rebelution. Core memory. I didnt start training till a couple years later only realizing then who he was.

strangest comment ever! he has train 100%?????? dude have a chat with yourself! Just so you know it is possible to train BJJ and have a frickin job also! YOU JUST DON'T GO BALLS TO THE WALL ALL THE TIME! isn't that obvious? instead he 'stops training' guys like this annoy the shit out of me, they don't know how to flow or roll technically! for them a spar is a fight to the death! They show up 1x a week maybe full of energy (cause they don't train regularly) and then proceed to spaz out, hurting themselves and other people along the way! It is true BJJ is the ego filter!

thehalokidster Thanks for the feedback man but I think that's a bit unfair making assumptions without knowing Ethan. He's a deputy district attorney so it's not just because he has a job, he is unable to show up in court with a black eye etc.. Training once a week? The dude practically trained full time back when the sport was relatively unknown and reached a very high level (brown belt) before he decided to stop training. People and their situations change, each to their own.

Eat Films fair enough, im off with my assessment.., thank you for correcting me. I was more talking about the stereo type to be honest that trains like a mad man (1x per week) and training 100% = injurys! the guys that dont train often tend to be like that in my opinion. (this guy is the exception as you stated). I stand by my comments about not giving up BJJ, surely we can come to an understanding with our training partners, like hey man 'my job' etc so lets keep it technical. and yeah shit happens anyway but black eyes are probably one of the rarer injurys (in my experience). anyway as you said 'each to his own' take care and good luck.

+Eat Films i get where you are coming from but it somewhat seems like an excuse its ok to move on in life and have different goals that just no longer fit into the bjj lifestyle. but to say you can ONLY train 100% and that's the reason you had to stop just seems strange to me aswell. I actually train with a guy who is a district attourney AND has a family and he manages to train safely and doesn't ALWAYS have to go 100%. I obviously don't know the guy or his specific situation but saying that is the reason kinda just seems like a way to mask the ego or something but like I said I don't know the guy. It is however possible to be a district attourney and have a family and train black eyes are a rare occurancy from grappling at my academy maybe we just aren't hardcore enough and don't want injuries.
