I saw Ronnie Milsap in concert back in 1987 in Pennsylvania. It was the best concert ever. He never missed a note!!! I was sad to find out about his difficult childhood but he showed the world that dreams really do come true no matter what disability a person may have. I feel very lucky to have been at his concert. I will never forget it!!!

I think that Ronnie Milsap is one of the most inspiring musicians I can think of. Being blind and being able to play the piano as beautifully as he can, on top of having the wonderful voice that he has, is just nothing short of amazing. I remember the first time I heard the song Smoky Mountain Rain on the radio: I had never heard of Ronnie, but I knew as soon as I heard that song that I was hooked. Every song I have heard since of Ronnie's is sung straight from the heart, and that's not something you find commonly, especially now. He has 40 #1 songs as well, which is impressive in it's own right. Ronnie Milsap is just one of those 1 in a million performers that truly stand out, and I really hope that more people in my young generation will continue to carry on this legend's legacy and his music.
@bobdavis4848 Жыл бұрын
"Smokey Mountain Rain" was also what hooked me on his music in 1980, then I bought many LPs and CDs of him and and he was my first country concert (and tour program); Alabama was the opening act. I played his "There's No Gettin' Over Me" album yesterday.

Today, music is like the Johnny Bravo episode of the Brady Bunch. you just have to fit the suit. if you will twerk or strip naked in a video, and are attractive with a good body you're in. with all the technology, they can replace your voice or dub in one syllable at a time, and make you sound like anybody they want. you don't need talent; you just have to be up for sale.

"I wouldn't have missed it for the world'".....I've met a very special, woman, much younger than I, who I've fallen hopelessly in love with. The only problem is, she has no idea how I feel. We have a close friendship relationship that I hope will continue forever. Because she is so very much younger than I am, any chance of a romantic connectiion between us is effectively impossible, so my feelings for her will have to remain a secret that I will keep locked in my heart forever. This special woman will never know how much I care for her. She has been loved by other men in the past, but nobody could love her any more than I do. It would be impossible for any love to exceed what feel for this woman. Love really does hurt sometimes, but, ''I wouldn't have missed it for the world..." Thank you for the lyrics and a wonderful song, Ronnie!

It was a time when record producers sent scouts out to local fairs, clubs, bars etc looking for talented people who were gaining a following, that allowed the creative freedom that gave us artists like this. Those days are gone, now instead they just hand pick a person, create the image and political agenda they want & promote the hell out of that person everywhere you turn. That's why the music today sucks. No creative freedom.

Take the time and share experiences with those you love!!!!! Create those special memories you and your loved one can always look back on and smile!!!! My Grammy had this played at her funeral. I'm really thinking abotu her today, but it's really how we all felt about her. I wouldn't trade a single memory of her for all the gold in the world.

You got that right today's music is just shit to me. But on the other hand when we listen to our favorites as a young person growing, our parents, guardian, or who ever raised you said the same thing that the music at that time wasn't cutting it either, and so we carry that tradition and tell our kids that their modern music sucks, and then their children will tell their kids and so on and so on. It's just what you grew up with that style of music what your use to and when they change the sound and how the beat is and how they sound singing will get us to say it's bad and not cutting it. But you right it's not. Especially country music, today's country sound so different and some singers don't even sound country but should be in pop, today's country sounds like pop. It's like country music has died and left with singers like Taylor Swift for example she's ok but doesn't sound like country but pop. To me Carrie Underwood is the same. Just like Bob Seager said in one of his songs he says today's music ain't got the same soul . And I'm paraphrasing can't remember the exact words he used but probably get the point. The old sound of country like Hank Williams sr.and jr, Patsy Cline, Alabama, Johnny Cash to name a few is the country I love and wished it could of stayed that way of music. But change is inevitable and have to grin and bare it. Sucks but that's the way it is.

Ronnie is the living embodiment of when the Lord closes a door, he opens another without fail. Ronnie lost his sight but gained such a wonderful career in singing with that distinctive voice. The voice of a better time in this country.

I remember watching Ronnie perform on "Austin City Limits." He loved to play with the audience just like here in this video. At rehearsal, he would count the steps to the edge of the stage, then walk forward during the show and wait for the crowd to gasp thinking he was going to fall. This man is an amazing fearless artist.

One benefit of being from Nashville is running into stars from time to time. A few years ago, my wife and I were at the airport to pick up my mom who was flying in, and while waiting who should walk right past us but Ronnie Milsap. He was holding onto the arm of a gentleman (probably a personal assistant) to guide him. My wife, being from Eastern Europe, had no idea who he was. I was freaking out, completely tongue-tied and star struck (and I've seen many famous people and almost never get like that). But, I knew what a legend he was and he was walking right past me, about 3 feet away. Dude, what a moment. Just wanted to share that. Thanks for listening.
