MAJOR WRONG WAY SEMI CRASH & TOW PART 1

A semi loaded with steel crashed through the median, through the cables into the opposing lanes of traffic, hit a bridge, then tangled itself in the barrier cables back by the median. All without injuries... Our job was to untangle it and get it off the interstate, all while working with traffic coming TOWARDS us. Thanks for watching and God bless. www.paypal.me/RotatorRon

I cut this video a great deal. There were a lot of things I did where the driver was next to me, and, unfortunately, he was using a lot of foul language. I attempted to edit out his language, but it was just too much and lost most of the procedures, so I simply cut out the entire sections of video. Thanks for watching and God bless.

@@RonPratt Honestly with the amount of deleted parts in the video, I would rather read captions or something and here it silent instead of not seeing a video, I do see why you maid that decision, and not all the viewers would like it, but it would be nice for the users who want to watch the whole video because that's what they like most of it, this is especially true for the younger group of people who watch you. I'm always glad to hear you telling the client that "Nobody got hurt or was killed. That's what matters. THINGS can be replaced." My father had a fit once when my mom, me & a sister were in an accident. UPS truck ran a red light, t-boned a car and spun it around and hit us head on. All my dad said was "MY CAR...LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO MY CAR!!" That was to my mom, not the UPS driver who caused the accident. He never once asked if me mom or sister were hurt. He didn't care...all he cared about was HIS car. Someone on scene said those same words to him and I thought my father was going to deck him. He snarled at the man and told him to mind his own business. The man then walked over to us and HE asked if we were hurt. I was only about 8 & sis was 10. I have never forgotten that and it happened over 50+ years ago. It's always nice to know there are caring, compassionate people in this world like you. God Bless you Ron. Stay safe out there! 💜🙏

Yes Marcia I know what you mean. My dad was like that. Possessions were so important to them. Maybe it was because they grew up in the Great Depression where they had so little. Did he change later in life - show he cared and loved you? I study screenwriting and its quite rare that bad characters change. My dad never once told any of us kids that he loved us. He was a good provider but again I think that was because of the Depression. His parents were a little reserved too, so maybe that was part of what shaped his personality. WW2 obviously had an effect on him as well - disciplinarian etc. Chased everything with a skirt, divorced my mum who was a very kind lovely woman, died a little sorrowful I think at only 56.
@judil3294
@judil3294 3 жыл бұрын
@@zeviono4562 Sorry you had to deal with that. Yes, people did seem to be much more reserved back then. I never doubted really that my dad loved us but he rarely showed open affection. Then a couple of years after I left home, was providing for myself, etc., I went home for a visit that meant driving 400 miles on my own. When I drove into the driveway and got out of the car he came rushing out of the house and threw his arms around me. Totally took me by surprise but I never again doubted he had stronger emotions inside than usually showed.

My first thought when I saw the bumper bent under the tractor was: "I'd be inclined to use the drag winch to pull the bumper back out." and the moment I saw the bumper wasn't going to be rigid enough to support itself, the words "Ratchet Strap!" came immediately to mind. The next steps was always going to be pulling the drive shaft. Hearing that the air lines had been severed, I knew that "Cage the brakes" would have to follow. The only thing that Ron didn't (at least seem to) do was to clean his arm before climbing back into the cab. Disliking being dirty myself, that would have driven me nuts on the drive back to the shop. I'm an Australian, so driving on the left seemed perfectly normal to me. 🙂 Great work Ron. Stay safe.

Hauling about two tons on a flatbed l got a good scare when I looked in the mirror and saw a 20' beam turned crosswise. Luckily, my regular steel supplier was about a quarter mile ahead, so I managed to get into his lot without anything else shifting, and bought a whole new set of tiedowns. Then went back to the shop and had a talk with the boss about cobbling together random bits of broken equipment. The few hundred he'd been saving with worn tiedowns could have cost both me and the company tens of thousands.

The other day as I was going to a doctor's appointment. I saw a fancy sport car turn in front of a cement truck. The car ran up a tree and the truck got control and stopped about 2 ft from a house after he ran over several shrubs and small trees. My first thought was how you not giving yourself and your employees enough room to get in and out of the truck and getting your equipment on the driver's side. Those cars and semis are flying when passing you. If its a two lane shut down one of the lanes at least. I've seen so many accidents because drivers don't give right of way or don't care and end of crashing into someone. I know you are the professional and the police want the road opened up as quick as possible, but they need to make sure that you are safe too. Thanks for the videotapes. If my directions are correct, you were facing NB in the SB lanes. I saw the mm post 115. So you had a good lil trip back up to the 118 exit. Man that would have been scary going against the flow of traffic like that.. bless you sir and MSHP for the assistance guiding you safely back.

I was so glad to see you pull the bumper outta the way with the winch. That's the first thing I said when I saw it under there. I've ripped a few bumpers off with my winch so that it freed up the steering on some and just got them out of the way on others.

Ron I can honestly say working for the highway department running the attenuator backing the wrong way down the interstate picking up a lane closure while traffic is still doing 65+ is a very unique wierd and nerve wracking endeavour's you'll never wanna do

In Australia most states have compulsory speed limits where red and blues are flashing of 40km/h (25mph), huge fines for non-compliance. In South Australia it is 25km/h (15mph).

I don’t think it’s ever safe working on the side of the highway but this was particularly dangerous. Smart idea using the cable to pull the bumper out from underneath the truck I was wondering if you were going to have to cut it or what.

Am I right in thinking the driver fell asleep? At 26:19 it sounds like he says "I woke up before I hit..." but the audio at that part isn't all that clear to my ear.

High speed reverse, I LOVE it! I drive dump truck for a company that does asphalt paving. There are times when we back up 2 miles on the freeway, or other roads in high speed reverse. That driver certainly did have an unseen passenger riding with him this day!

First off....Great job, that was a heck of a lot of work, And for an old lady (that I am) very intense when having to watch you go backwards, I drive a minivan and don’t like having to back out of the driveway, let alone something that size. What ever happened that made that driver mess up like that, I was glad there were no humans lol hurt.
