It’s a terrifying thought really. “Unknowingly” means you don’t know. So you, me, this man speaking, could all be worshiping the Devil in ways we are unaware of. It’s like saying there are sinners who are aware of what sins they are committing and then there are sinners who unaware of the sins they are committing. Unless we decide this man speaking is 100% pure, holy and righteous, which no humans are in my belief, then there must be sins even he is unaware of within himself, no? I’ve idolized Christ for 30 years, and in that time I have been repeatedly shown where I was falling short. When I was younger I had a stronger tendency to blame it on other individuals, groups or society at large, which I see is still a popular approach among people of any faith, or lack thereof.

@@CMA418 if you’re baptized and confessing regularly and praying then God wouldn’t let you or anyone be fully unaware of their sins. I’m talking about people who aren’t Orthodox Christians & who don’t have sacraments & a close relationship with God

@@Ooweeeooo Perhaps. But that way of thinking could easily lead to a spirit of pridefulness. “God won’t allow me to be deceived or deceive myself.” I think that’s what you are saying. Couldn’t a person who actually IS deceived not believe this very thing? They that are immune?

The phrase ‘women being taught to be more whorelike in their behaviour’ caught my attention. When women look at pornography their behaviour is described as ‘whorelike’, but what is the word used to describe what men’s behaviour is like when they look at pornography? Of course, looking at pornography is a disgusting thing for either sex to do, but it seems to me that there is a culture of women being more frowned upon than men if they look at pornography. We are told that women who look at pornography have behaviour that is ‘whorelike’ but men who look at pornography need ‘sympathy’ 🤔.

Well, what you just witnessed in this video is not orthodoxy, it's fanaticism and extremism. I mean...I knew when Americans get their claws on something, they destroy it and this video is a prime example of that. An American "orthodox priest" who is twisting the Bible and the Holy Tradition to fit his fundamentalist rhetoric. Simply egregious! If you want Orthodoxy, go look at Greek, Serbian, Russian, Romanian etc. priests, monks, not this liar. But if you are considering converting BECAUSE of this guy's words, then it's clear what kind of a person you are.

My healing is happening every time I partake of the holy sacraments and I am so grateful. Father Josiah, one of your spiritual children is now my priest, Father Daniel Bethancourt. I cannot even express how much I love him. And his kindness and his love of the truth are things that you helped to mold in him. Thank you.

This! My husband and I always check with each other on everything. Even my children know that they need to check with both of us and we'll probably need to talk it out before any decisions are made. Dad makes the final decision but he is always fair and listens listen to all sides. I married a man who believes that family is everything and he will do whatever he needs to do to protect and provide. And he does whatever he needs to do to make sure that I am able to take care of and homeschool our children. I pray to God and thank him everyday and night for the life he has blessed me with. My wife divested herself of me in 2019. Painfully she went to be with my best friend. We have been married for 11 years and I've been low of spirit for the past 3 years she moved out last November and I've been heartbroken since she revealed she had feelings for him. We have a son and we are sharing custody. I've been incredibly angry and sorrowful but not with her. The way things have progressed it feels like it was planned to destroy my spirit and leave me to drown in a sea of heartbreak. I've since returned to Jesus Christ Almighty. You stopped fighting for your marriage long before she left. It's not all your fault though. Modern idealogy, cultural norms, and sedative habits all shut down your natural warning bells to some degree. Once you supress those natural warnings you end up like that meme with the dog sitting in a house fire: "Everything is fine". And you probably truly believed the lie. But your not alone. We're all in the same struggle. Help others wake up to those warning bells. And most definitely help your son. God bless.

My husband and recently decided that we will start attending church with our family, as we have come to believe strongly in cultural christianity. Ive started reading the bible and praying and i hope that my husband and I will both grow in our relationship to God and eventually come to know Jesus. After 20 years of being in a faithful relationship with 4 beautiful boys born over the last 13 years, he finally proposed last month and we will be getting officially married. We were always so counter culture in our younger years we both agreed we didn't need god or government involved in our union. I think the urge to be married now in the eyes of God is him working in our lives and leading us in his direction. ❤

Marriage is a reflection of Christs relationship with the church. You dont have to get married, in fact Paul says in Corinthians “I hope you all stay unmarried as me so you can focus completely on God” but we have the choice. When the holy spirit starts his work within you, you will notice a slowly change in the way you think, you feel, you speak and therfore you act. The day will come you are a completly other person. A new born christian. You will even hate your former sins.

@otiliamanuelajurj in my case as much as I tried by my own powers, I failed. Until one day God decided to allow me to get Peyronie's disease which "sucked" big time... especially at age 26, 6 months before my wedding. I thought in my mind at the time...God punished me where it hurts most. But 7 years later I consider it a blessing, as God knew I was not going to try hard enough on my own. Not impossible, but rather just weak in my will to do so....My wife knew 6 months in advance that the sexual future was uncertain, yet she chose to stay by my side. We now have a 3 year old daughter together (naturally )😊 and I have learned that it is not as hard once you have the right mindset. But I do wish I didn't have to force God's hand into scaring me to give up porn. I wish I did that from my own strong will. The conclusion: don't be like me. Muster your strengths and don't wait for God's plan B. Deliver plan A

And just to add to it. We cannot let the snake come in. As soon as you see the head in the doorway you cut it off right away. The Devil is much smarter than we are and we will chose to excuse ourselves each time, thinking "I will try harder next time"

As a Roman Catholic, there’s always one thing that I respect deeply about orthodoxy, and it’s their priest direct nature they do not beat around the bush. A tough love approach. I’m not saying a Catholic priest can’t but in my experience they tend have a more gentle approach and I’ve never heard them Use the words “whore like.” And I gotta be honest I not only respect it, but it is incredibly refreshing.

Yes, they are not cruel or mean. But they do speak straightforwardly even as every priest i have dealt with has been deeply kind. It is part of facing sin for what it is and naming it.. for our salvation.. No obfuscation. Letting their "yay be yay" and their "nay be nay". From the outside world, based on what is out there, both in ways that try to just gloss over sin and not face it or to be haranguing about it, going to Holy Confession seems something to be frightened of. Actually it proves to be a great, great relief to lay down those burdens. Holy Confession is one of the greatest blessings in the world. As i type this i find myself deeply longing for everyone to have that blessing. I wonder what the results would be in our world if they could feel those burdens lifted? ☦☦

Its not about belonging to some church Its about following the word of God. Churches and sects have their own political intentions thats why their buildings are all decorated in earthly valuables and their leaders live in opulence just because they spread the word of the lord. Jesus wan't rich and he didn't make anyone pay for his word. He lived thanks to the help of whoever hosted him. So poor he came into Jerusalem on a donkey...the animal for the poor even today. Christ's message is real and to understand it, Pray for the understanding...Preachers can be His tools to teach but nowadays theya re too few who really do that.

I am so very blessed to have been brought up in a strong, traditional, christian, household. My parents have been married over 40 years and are just the most amazing role models. They have never been perfect but they always worked everything out and got where we needed to be. They always loved us and supported us and taught us how important marriage and family was. My father always told us that we would never be truly living until we had a family of our own. Boy does that man know what he's talking about! I always tell my father, I credit him for my wonderful family because if it wasn't for him, none of it would be possible. I chose a good strong man because I was raised by one. I want to be a fantastic mother and wife because I was raised by one. Just so very important Godly and family values into my children so that they have a Fighting Chance in This world. My love for God and my love for my family is absolutely everything to me. I am so appreciative of people starting to focus on what's really important and pushing away the evil that is trying to tear us away from that. God bless you all!

Fr Josiah has a way with bringing your passions to the surface and his words are like sandpaper to our secular lives. He gentle nature is abrasive to our departure from God, he skillfully sands down the barriers we built that keep us separate from God. Glory to God for giving us this role model and teacher of the church. The Lord works through the clergy and between my Priest and others like Fr Josiah and Fr Turbo, I have dipped my toe in the living water and look forward to fully immersing myself in the faith for the rest of my existence. My family is also joyfully stepping into the life of the orthodox church with me, we will be all baptised and God will be saving us from our immorality with a marriage in the church next month. Father Josiah, your words are like a calm warm hug to my life where it aligns with God, and also like a righteous burning flame to my life where it departs from Gods will. May the Lord bless you and continue to work through you to lead and bring more into the faith through your examples and teachings.

I am going to give you as honest a view as possible, disheartening as it may be. Only five in a thousand men in the west are getting married and this significantly reduces marriage options. The men are opting out of the institute of marriage for numerous reasons but this significantly decreases the available pool of men that would consider marriage at all. On top of this, men have always been less likely to marry single mothers and in the current climinate, given the rates of marriage, sharply decreases the likelihood of this ever occurring. It is estimated, and looking at the numbers and assuming a linear trajectory, 45% of women will be single and childless by 2030. This combined with the cultural norms exacerbating the destruction of marriage, I would argue this is not a linear trend but an exponential one. Things are exceptionally bleak. I am not saying this to dishearten you but if there is any possible way you could work things out with the father of your child, I would strongly encourage a resolution here. God bless..

It always felt as though there was something missing in other denominations for us, and for years we left the church completely. In the last year, we've been searching for a sign as to what would be best for our little family, and I feel so overjoyed and filled with love to the point of tears in the thought of raising our sweet little boy in the Orthodox church and teaching him to love Christ. We've replaced our time in the evening watching news and podcasts into watching these videos and reading our Bible together instead. We can not wait to find a church and begin the process of conversion, so we may earn our place in the church family. When I made my view on marriage known and that it would be best for her not to give up on it, she point blank told me I wasn't allowed to discuss marriage/relationships with her anymore since our views are so different! She now complains how hard it is to provide for her 2 daughters financially, how tired she is, the daughters' acting up since she "acts one way at Daddy's house, another at Mommy's". Instead she still believes that dating a felon, smoking pot, and who knows what else is what's best for her and her daughters.

Wish more Western pastors would speak like this. It is no surprise more and more folks, as they draw closer to Christ, move to a more reverent, humble orthodox practice of their faith

Growing up in South Dakota, all the grade school students were dismissed from school at 11:30 for lunch at home. We returned by 12:30. I knew only one family where there was a divorce.

I'm Protestant and I just can't get enough of these Orthodox teachings. I don't hear this taught in church, I didn't hear this growing up from family. I have this ache and Orthodoxy seems to fill it, it takes me out of my self-pity and make me desire to be holy as He is holy, to live so my children will see and know God.

Wow! What a wonderful sermon! I am a Christian and I am guilty of living in extramarital union, with our second child coming soon. Your words touched me deeply. With God's blessing, I hope that we will get married before Christ in his church soon. Thank you so much! And God bless. Love from Serbia.

Yes, so men have been practicing whoredoms for centuries. Referencing women as whores and not men is double standards. Whores are whores regardless of biological sexual classifications. God has one standard of goodness and righteousness for all. You are right about feminity being a man made tradition. Aside from reproductive organs and secondary sexual characteristics masculinity and feminity are qualities that we all have and can develop. Kindness, gentleness, compassion, patience, tenderness, etc., aren't feminine qualities. Assertiveness, mental endurance, courage, sound mind, just, wisdom, mercy, are not masculine qualities. And any other qualities and characteristics you can dream up are not masculine or feminine but human. Possible for mortals. Moreover, aren't we all to embody the characteristics of Christ? Did the Bible say, there's male and female in Christ? The male and female serve the sole purpose of propagation of our species. How a husband and wife at any given time work out the responsibilities and obligations of running a home and raising children is between them. Certainly, there's no continuing type in history. People did what they had to do for survival. Men, women and children still labor side by side under the sun. Naturally from the dawn of time there's been class differences as well. I hate when men start touted about things they have no understanding of. The whole duty of man (fe/male) is to keep God's commandments. Nothing more or less. Seems people want to dictate how we should all live and every aspect of our lives they want control over. Smh Christ is sufficient.

As a Greek, I've left a lot of comments on various videos of this channel, but once again, Glory to God for discovering this channel. I hope you grow a lot more, and I hope that the priests who are invited to have their parishes grow a lot more too.

I am a seeker. The love for Christ has been stirring and growing within me in recent months and moving me to seek Christ in all that I do. Finding Fr. Josiah Trenham, and the Orthodox Church, online has been a revelation for me, and I am being pulled deeper into the love of Christ. I am not worthy of Christ's love but I humble myself before Him and pray for forgiveness for my sins and offer the deepest gratitude that He has brought these teachings to me so that I may become worthy of his Love and glory. Christ, I thank you for your blessings and your Love. Your humble servant. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This is one of the very best teachings I’ve ever had. Thank God for algorithms- necessary evil- Ordinarily I wouldn’t open videos of preachers I’ve never heard of. But based on the kind of videos I watch, KZbin suggested this and I thought to listen for a few minutes and more on but was I hooked to the very end! And I intend to listen to it again this tie with my notebook. Thank you sir
