Just finished sewing a simple zippered sling bag for my daughter albeit with dented zipper ends and kicking myself for not coming across this video before starting off. I'm so grateful to you for sharing this golden tip of not topstitching end to end. I will start a new sling bag tomorrow and use your trick. Million thanks to you. I use a plain old school drawing compass and pencil to draw circles. Costs very little, can get them anywhere that sells basic school supplies and easy to set to anything up to a 6" circle, (1 1/4" radius gives a 2 1/2 inch diameter circle). You don't need a specialist punch tool unless you want loads of the same size ready cut for patchwork. Got to say though your videos are amazing, as a slightly dyslexic sewer I do much better with visual rather than written instructions and yours are very straight forwards and clear, with no annoying music or waffle. I understood this project technique immediately from your description and demonstration because they were so clear. Thank you.

EXCELLENT!!! Your teaching is so perfect. Many years ago I had a purchased purse I loved and carried it for years. I wore it out so since I could not find a duplicate, I decided to replicate it. Of course, it was a double zipper pouch like this one. Had no idea how to put the two together so I fabric glued them. Wish I had this video back then!!! Rosie, you are an excellent teacher. Thank you! If you have ever made a bag, it is exactly the same way you would make the window for a pocket. Once you sew in the pocket facing and turn it through the window, you have the right side of the fabric exposed to sew on. Really a very simple technique.

I'm a relatively new sewist and I can honestly say this tutorial brought me to tears. I don't understand the whole window thing along with the million layers. I just wanted to understand how your zipper edges got so square and I got so overwhelmed, I literally started to cry. Is it just the top stitching not all the way to the edges that makes the zippers edges square?

I liked the results you got so I thought I'd give this a try. Most of these comments are from people who haven't attempted this, so I want to ask a question that may help others. Around the 19:00 mark, you start to pin one of the last two outer pieces to an edge of the zipper. The project got flipped around a couple of times and I couldn't tell which way the zipper was facing on the piece that should be sewn next. And the last piece was hard to tell how it was attached. Some close ups would help in that part of the instructions. I'm working through it but had to stop so I can attempt to finish tomorrow when my mind is a little bit fresher! This is a little complicated. Part of my problem may be that I am using zipper I bought by the foot so it is not open at one end.

I came back to see if this would allow to have a pocket between the zippered pouches. Do you have a tute for a double zip with a pocket between rather than closed? Pretty please😃😃. Even tho this could be complicated, your clear teaching style makes your projects do-able.
@RosiesArtStudio4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the way this pattern is constructed, it does not lend itself to a pocket between the two compartments. You can add a pocket inbetween if you are using the more traditional method of construction for this type of bag.

ONE OF THE BEST TUTORIALS I HAVE SEEN. JUST WONDERING WHY YOU CLIP THE CURVES AND THEN CUT OFF THE FABRIC?
@RosiesArtStudio5 жыл бұрын
I clip the curves to iron the seams open around the curve which gets some of the bulk out of that area. Once the curves are ironed, I do not need the clips to be there. I just want to eliminate as much bulk as I can.
