5:31 I've always thought this part meant that there was more humanity in a non-human than the actual human. Also when you said how was he so musically adept when he was a flea before, I think it's because of the 2 chemicals that splashed on him. If I remember correctly one chemical made something gigantic and the other made the one affected sing. Like when the monkey started singing opera with no prior training, I assume.

Also, at the part where Maynott held his gun at Raoul, Francuoer, and Lucille and she said, “The newspapers were right, there is a monster in Paris and I’m looking right at him.” It took me so long to finally realize she was talking about Maynott and not Francuoer.

"Francœur" means honest (franc) and heart (cœur) so having a honest heart :> I absolutely loved this movie, and especially "la Seine et moi" as a kid. -M- (Francœur's singer) has a magical voice, and is one of my favourite French singers! He's well known for his high notes, his Wolverine-like hair, and havinga family steeped in the arts; his daughter, Billie, is a singer like himself, and his grandmother, Andrée Chedid, was a well known poet and novelist. Vanessa Paradis, Lucille's voice actress, is also a well known singer and I believe used to be with Johnny Depp. If there's one thing I personally dislike, it's that I just think the animation hasn't aged suuuper well-but obviously they couldn't really help it at the time :')

10:48 One short thing I noticed when watching the movie for the first time, years ago: This character's name is "Commissioner Maynott," but he's running for office and later in the film, he becomes the mayor. Yeah. "Mayor Maynott," as in "may, or may not," meaning somebody wishy-washy. His new title is only said out loud once, by Emile, in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it remark to Lucille.

I loved this movie because the French singer for Francoeur is Matthieu Chedid, my parents and I really enjoy this singer, so it was a great moment. As a french person, I can tell you: You got the song clearly. It has been a long time since I watched it, but I can remember that they give also this important aspect of the Seine, because it's a really important and iconic river of France, not only in Paris. The guitar, it’s a reference to Matthieu Chedid, because he is an amazing player, and his house is full of his guitar’s collection. Also the fact that she has an angel costume and the French singer’s name is Vanessa Paradis(=heaven), I like it.

He didn’t though! Which is great! I had a thing where whenever Beetle from Kubo and the Two Strings would like..crawl I guess? I would be super creeped out. That didn’t happen with the flea character. (I mean, I don’t remember him doing anything bug-like? So I think that’s why I wasn’t as scared, and the design didn’t look that much like a bug/flea but I could still tell he was a flea so that was nice!) But ye. Thanks, Ros Mo, for reminding me of this lil gem from my childhood.

The reason franceour has a beautiful singing voice is due to the two mixtures that got smahed together when he was mutated one of them was the mixture Charles got sprayed into his mouth for the beautiful singing voice which explains why franceour has the good singing voice and probably the knowledge of playing the guitar

So quaint. The animation isn't at all bad, it's just simple and unassuming. I loved that the opening credits say "based on an original story". In a way it's kind of a sad commentary on how almost everything seems to be either sequels or incredibly derivative. I loved that scene between Raoul and Lucille because it felt very authentic and was a nice break from Lucille being little miss perfect. Sometimes it's those little breaks from character that are really funny, like when the stupid pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean correctly uses the word "ironic" in a sentence. It's relatively uncommon for a film to have no real "main character", but it works here.

The music is so beautiful and although the animation feels a bit sped up (biased, also the fact I'm American and watch the dub version so the sync may be off), it's a gorgeous movie. When I got a bit older I did more research on the movie and found Matthieu Chedid, the French singer for Francoer. Again, I don't speak French at all but his music is so beautiful that I can't help but listen to it and look up what it means to fully understand the piece. I also only recently noticed that Matthieu wears this wig or cap of sorts that looks like an M (or what I can only describe as an off-brand Batman thing of sorts). When Lucile dresses Francoer up she puts Matthieu's wig/cap thing on him and he smiles so wide. Love that adorable boi, even if I hate bugs, their relationship is top-tier (and purely platonic, no bee movie, please and thank you)

So hey I'm French (sorry for my bad english) I really like your video on Un monstre à Paris I remember watching it when i was a kid in a movie theater and also buying the DVD because I liked it so much I don't know about the English "songs" but in French they are just soooooo incredible Vanessa Paradis and M (Matthieu Chedid) were just a perfect match (yes I'm still a litle bit obsessed withit) So thank you for talking about this movie (and yes la seine is the "river" that crosses Paris it's like an emblem) Des bisous trop fière que se soit un film français (on est là représente XD)

So I love animations movies so it it’s my pleasure to recommend some of my favorite French films well I think I will only give like a top 3 (even if there’s some much movies that are just so good). There are a little bit different from each others I don’t think I’ll give any « résumé » because you can find it on internet but only the genre of the film (I hope I express my self clearly XD). So first movie I think of is « Mune » it’s a 3D movie with adventure and fantasy really chill yo watch. Then the second one is « Le chat du rabin » it’s a comedy really funny to watch there’s a little bit of religion (it’s in 2D). And the last one is « Persepolis » based on a true story about Islamist religion it can be dramatic but also funny (it’s in 2D but one particulier thing is it’s in black and white only). Yeah so hope it answers your question if you want more movies don’t hesitate to ask ~(-_^)~

OH MY GOD I haven't watched this movie since I was in kindergarten, the nostalgia hits me hard 😭 I have so little memory of the plot but I still remember sitting on my grandma's bed in front of one of those old TVs that you could feel the parasites from just having your hand close to the screen and even dancing at the end song with the characters.. Thank you so much for talking about this movie as well! ❤️

I remember watch this in the cinema, and I love the movie. Also, Franco is the closest to human version as Toothless can get and still be cute.
