I'm sure if our country would lower the price of rent or have rent control as a means of aliviating high rental prices folks wouldn't resort to this type of thing--they'd have their own places. It's just that it has gotten so incredibly expensive to rent that some folks have no choice--I would NEVER do it. I'd rather work two-three jobs to be able to have my income in place--but this is what our government has done to its people. 😕 I certaintly agree with you, though.

I don't see how the plaintiff's "15-days notice and then we'll see," is legal. The defendant can't rent out the space for the second half of the month because the plaintiff might decide to stay. Payment is by the month, not by the day, week or fortnight.

Probably not "abusive" - Russ is probably just an a-hole douchebag, probably (more than likely) just aggressively alpha (strange for Canadians, I know... j/k, Canadians are some of the best ppl on Earth, BTW). They probably had a spat, plaintiff confided in the defendant, of course it's one-way so the truth is never told... I don't think the plaintiff was in any danger of being abused and if so, there's a handful of states and an international border between them so dropping the abusive scumbag would be a piece of cake. Plaintiff doesn't appear to be ignorant in that regard so there's clearly something "in the moment" when she talked to the def about it "that one time." RE: Def's fiance - how can someone be afraid of anyone who's making threats a handful of states and an international border away? C'mon!

This was a bad ruling. You can genuinely tell they only locked her out that night because they were scared she did come back with her boyfriend. The very next day she was able contact them and make arrangements to get her stuff after they knew for sure they were safe. I can see if she was locked out forever but a couple hours to ensure safety after being threatened by a man they don’t know? Naw, I would appeal this

Actually not hearing noise after falling asleep isn't uncommon. I have keys to a friend's house. One time her lock stuck. I banged on the door, banged on the window to her bedroom. Made enough noise to bring her neighbors out, she didn't hear anything. Several times, I have let myself in, knocked on her bedroom door, made a ridiculous amount of noise & she has slept right through. I'm not sure if I fully envy that level of deep sleep. 😅

She got all her stuff the next day. The only mistake here's changing the locks. They should have added a lock or a security latch so the door couldn't be opened without them knowing. Then she wouldn't have had a case.

Because she full of shit. She was locked out over night. Got her stuff the next day. Lost nothing, then looked up the law to get some money. She full of shit.
