Glad you dig it, Victor. Tge original song has an F note instead of the Gb in the beginning. I wanted to make it easier, but it's really not a lot harder to play tvat f on the 6th fret b-string. Just lift your middle finger and you'll have the f on the already barred index.

I changed that from a bad habit as a student. I watched myself in the mirror then (no phones with selfie cams back then, lol) and saw that it looked ugly and much different from pro guitsrists. So I just copued the looks. As for soloing, everything changed when a substitute teacher corrected my random plucking direction playing to a strict alternate pucking. That one lesson he gave me while my professor was on tour, was for sure the most important guitar lesson of my life. It changed my phrasing to a correct and great one. I have a lesson on jazz phrasing on YT, where I explain this in detail. Check it out!

Great arrrangement, and you play it beautifully! The way you play it, it has more of a "midnight" feel to me, and is more haunting. Honestly, I listened to Monk's version after this, and Jim Hall's, and yours is preferred, because it floats more, imparts some of that feeling of loneliness and introspection that Monk knew often happens "'Round Midnight."
You don't need long nails. I kinda get stuck between strings with longer nails. You have to pluck the string that had the melody a little harder. That's usually the pinky doing that. It takes some practice to get a leveled sound.

The opening phrase is played terribly wrong. Sorry, but the F should clearly be there, you changed the whole meaning with that Gb...
@GuitarversumSandraSherman6 ай бұрын
I wanted to make it easier for beginners. But you really just need to lift your middle finger to get the f there. While I agree it was not a good decision, I would disagree on that it changes the meaning of the song. Singers change notes and timing all the time. The 9th is great, but the 3rd in the melody doesn't change the whole meaning of the song 🙃.
