Roy Orbison had an amazing voice, and who couldn't love SCTV. Never see talent like this ever again, music and comedy

💯 sctv was the best. And Roy was an absolute legend.

I know lots of people loved his voice, but I just don't. His trebly warbly vibrato reminds me of Buffy St Marie, whose wobbly voice I also dislike. "Pretty Woman" is a great song, for sure. And Roy Orbison is a legend, without question. I just don't like his voice..

Loved Roy Orbison and still do. The musical guests on Second City always were in a skit which I loved. I remember Dave Thomas's brother Ian Thomas was on with his band and they goofed around a lot.

It's good to see Roy and great to see that he wasn't treated like some nostalgia act. I was surprised to see Roy do "Working For The Man", a good tune that certainly isn't one of his best known.

He was only 45 during this guest-spot. It's a crying shame what smoking did to such a phenomenal talent, contributing to his death 7 years later.

Didn't he die of heart failure?
@PhantomMarquis2 жыл бұрын
Heart-attack, more specifically. He had a habit of rapid weight-loss before recording/tours, plus he smoked, so that left him physically vulnerable, leaving the world at only 52.

Help me SCTV fans, please !! There is a scene where Guy Caballero is watching something he doesn’t like and starts saying,,, “ I don’t like this I don’t like this I’m a scared ,,,,,,,,,, then rubs his hands all over all over his face while making booba booba bluba bluba sounds………. I thought it was the ZONTAR episode but I’m mistaken because I watched Zontar on my DVD looking for that scene a few years ago and my buddy watched it a few days ago online looking for it and it ain’t there. HELP if you can. It’s buggin’ me. ANY info. at all would be greatly appreciated.
@teddymark43245 жыл бұрын
2packs4sure - I don't know the name of the episode... But I think the scene you're thinking about occurs with the energy ball that sucks up and traps the sctv characters/stars. Guy Cabellero was watching a security feed on the tv of the energy ball and that's when he was freaking out. Andrea martin's character (she portrays the short lady in poltergeist I think) destroys the energy ball by ramming it with a forklift. Just looked it up... It was the sweeps week episode if you remember that.

that was awesome but they shouldve made the vocals a bit louders they're kind of overstepped by the drums & the guitars

I watched this show live in 1981, at 1AM on a Saturday night, on a 1979 13 inch RCA color television with a monophonic 6 inch speaker. Watching it on DVD 40 years later on a flat panel TV hooked up to a nice stereo system, is something the technicians probably hadn't planned for, but it sounds great to me and even better off of the DVD.
