Without seeing the bottom of the airbox.......with the hole in the center where the air filter seats, it looks like a possible ram air effect design?? Yay or nay?

Thanks. Much appreciated. I was wondering if the intake is easily accessible to put a prefilter in? It would be useful when on a long trip in the desert where the dust is usually excessive and carring a spare uses valuable space and cleaning the filter somewhat difficult as you need to carry solvent and filter oil. I'll be ordering a DNA filter off you soon. PS, I love the Himalayan 450. Perfect cross between my 1200gs and DRZ. Looking forward to a long ride into the desert in July. Hey David! We have not explored this option as yet but we like your thinking. We will keep this in mind when we next have a tank off and keep you posted. It’s a sensational bike! Make sure you get some photos of your desert run for us.
