Yeah Well done guys 👍 Been looking forward to this one 😎 Personally as big guy, I still think these bikes have a place for the more sedate adventurer, someone who perhaps only gets out 3 or 4 times a year to do the odd weekend or week trip… not costly to own and certainly capable of doing the job.. 👍 Country tar and gravel travel will be a pleasure at real world travel pace, they would both actually do well travelling through Africa or other less developed regions of the world where high speed travel is not an option. Personally I think the Enfield is a real cracker.. looking at the slow speed hard hits… while it appears to bottom out on the back end the bike looks to be more composer on the exit.. the CF looks to buck quite hard which may catch one out.. I would certainly consider both as daily commute to reduce my mileage for commute on my 890adv r and I think they would be perfect to get my Mrs’s into travel riding… Again I ask the manufacturers to bring them to South Africa

I am watching this from BC Canada and loving it. There is a big switch to small bikes here in BC. I ride a DR 650 and I am 75 years old and we have four of us that all ride DR650 and the oldest rider is 79 years. We hooked up with young chaps on KTM and after Woods we ended up in the pub for a feed and some drinks. They said we have just been schooled by four old boys on DR 650. We had a good old giggle.

I loved the new format as it was fun and was a good portrayal of a days adventure riding that you would do with your mates. Less technical and spec information and more real world experiences. I’m based in Sydney so I can see you did Jerry’s, Murray’s Run Road and The Watagans so a typical Sydney day out. I’ve got the new 450 Himalayan and it is the best adventure bike I’ve ever owned. Good at everything and an amazing all rounder. Very comfortable and fun to ride as well.

Hi guys, that looks like too much fun I think the CF Moto absolutely sounds fantastic but I still like the Himalayan Royal Enfield if I have to go and buy one that’s what I’d buy. I watched a lot of guys and girls riding these across India and no one seem to have too much issues with them. Anyway keep up the good work. I really enjoyed this video. I wish I was there but unfortunately I lost my right leg above the knee and 2018 in a major truck accident, but that’s okay. I can still dream the dream for you guys I also still ride a three wheeler Canam, Ryker, and have lots of fun with it , Cliff from Logan City, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺

Enjoyed the review. Recently rode the Gun Barrel, GCR. A round trip of 4600 km’s back to Perth. 2 bikes, one was a Himi 450 stock except Tyres and larger screen. The Himi took all in its stride, the Corrugation was relentless on Gun Barrel. Anyone that has driven or ridden Gun barrel understands the conditions. Yes, the stock suspension showed its limits ( most bikes would with OME ) the short side stand was an issue and having a narrow foot made matters worse at times. For the money and a few tweaks the Himi will make a good all round tourer for AUSTRALIA. Yes weight can be an issue at times, however on the Nullarbor with the cross winds the weight will help with not being blown around. RE are onto a winner here, of coarse the Nay Sayers will scoff at these bikes, ( badge snobs ).

i would have liked to see the CF Moto do the same track as the Himay. The Himay can plow through deep water and keep going, it has the high air intake under the gas tank. Not sure the CF Moto could do the same. Plus the Himay went down hard on its side, and again the CF Moto took the safe route so saved its plastics.

Let's turn the discussion around: if the Himalayan had no longer turned on after ending up in the water, would you have said that it is a bad motorbike, bearing in mind that the CF, on the contrary, did not end up in the water? However, there are several videos on KZbin where the CF "drowned" in a raging river, they pulled it out and it drove off again. Net of "partisanship", I would say that they are two bikes that are equivalent and the difference is only personal taste.

Fun comparison ride! I like the format. Although I view both bikes as travel bikes, go anywhere but not fast off road so comparing lap times is okay against each other but would not be at all right to compare with a dual sport lap time of the same trail. The way I see it now is that there are three rough groups of bikes in the adv category, the first being the big, heavy travel bikes that can go anywhere but are primarily high speed road travel bikes. The second group being the mid weight travel bikes like the Himi and CF 450 MT, and the third group being the dual sport to plated dirt bikes that are light weight and much better off road than any of the others by a large degree, but also much less comfortable on high speed pavement. I used to be in the plated dirt bike group but as I got older I moved into the middle weight travel bike like these two. Most of my riding is alone and at 70 I do not take risks riding faster off road anymore because I get injured much easier and it takes so long to heal.

What a great real world test for both of these machines! I haven't ridden the bikes but I had 2 students turn up for a course (I'm a motorbike instructor) the other day on each of these so I got to sit on their bikes. Just that short sit, and watching the guys ride around a tight course of cones in the car park and on the road, made me want the CFMoto more than the Himalayan. I'm wondering, would it be worth it for me to swap my ever reliable DRZ for a CF just as it has more road capabilities? I do have a V-Strom for the road, but maybe the CF is of a bike a bike that will do both disciplines in one bike? Hmm. Love the format of the video by the way. Real world stuff!

Giant among men, "Marc Travels" is up in Ladakh on his Zero electric bike on vid sequence now. Wild and electric bike that doesn't chock down due to lack of oxygen, hell without electricity thou. Fire up the generator. Interesting watching that bike go with street tires on it. Lot of new pavement since you fellows were up there. Unreal. Beautiful. There were some bikers he met who had bought RE 410 Himalayans used for a $1000 USD and riding them, sell when leave. Good condition workhorses. Not a bad deal. Good to get a take from a fellow out of our circle. One who knows worldwide uses of bikes and understands their markets better than we ever will. We will never consider a 125 a top line machine like many others do. And they prove it in their daily use. Change in the pocket is a hugh factor for that market. Glad the choices are there. I think both bikes are capable of providing days of pure fun for their owners and in reality they are closely matched. Ultimately you will make your decision on aesthetics. I chose a Himalayan, primarily for green laning and possible runs around the TET, it gives me the look of a dual sport and a rawness similar to the old DT250 I rode as a 17 year old. The MT looks as it is designed to appeal to the adv rider who may want to tour and that is fine if that is the look you want. I also love Clubbys CRF, I had the 250 version when I returned to biking in 2020 and I would likely still have it if a scumbag had not stolen it. I love these sort of rides that you all do, the skill set is amazing, I am always in awe and kick myself for staying off bikes for so long

Good format, good useful reviews. I also really liked the fact you pushed the bikes beyond their design purpose too as so many of us have speared off down a track we didn't know and went "uh oh..." too far in then had to recover. Its not fair of me but I would love to have seen a comparison time for the Little Red Rooster and the Husky just out of curiosity; but lets face it, that's not the point.

The ergos of the CFMoto suit me better and I was just more comfortable on the dirt on the CFMoto. Both bikes can do similar routes and most likely owners will tweak each bike to suit them. Great time for the Adv bike market and riders all over.

Yes, enjoyed watching that this Sunday morning as I contemplate whether to go for a run on my Himmie in the scrub or give myself another few days more to recoup from my first "2 week fully loaded trip away". Only washed the bike yesterday & packed away the camping gear. Could go on my KLX400, but it's also clean too. 🙂 Rode through back burn smoke for an hour or two on the first day, which messed badly with my already compromised lungs. Only getting back to norm now after a week home. After doing some wet slippery tracks on standard tyres, which scared the shit out of me at the time (9pm) almost at my brother's bush hideaway in the Knorrit Forest above Nowendoc River valley. I am keen to bite the bullet and replace the tyres early. Had planned to do easy riding on the bike for the first 5k, but the risk of getting caught out again is a worry. Especially riding alone. Anyway thanks for the vid, fun to watch, Cheers 👍

I like the fact that you just showed a days ride in the bush on these bikes withthe kind of obstacles that you may face, if you have set your sights on getting somewhere and all you have is 1 sunday a month to get out so you have to face what ever weather issues WILL araise. Biggest difference I fear between a Tuareg 457 and even the new 390 Adventure compared to these bikes will be price...Aprilia RS457 is already 12k in Aus so I imagine the Tuareg will be more than that which is a big premium and kinda defeats the purpose of budget adventure like these two. I'll be surprised if the new 390 is under 11k as well

Great fun guys, thanks for a very entertaining review of both bikes! One thing that doesn't seem to be mentioned is the that you will be most comfortable and get the most out of a bike that fits you best. We are very different sizes and me at 5' 6" would not be as able on the CFmoto as on the Himalayan. For a 6' + guy it would be the other way round, especially on your off road terrain.

Watching from UK. That looked a lot of fun..I thought it was a good honest test of both bikes and they both came out of it really well. When you consider how little they both cost in relation to other machines that's a big bonus. I ride a Benelli TRKx and at just over £6,000 new I can't fault it. I have other bikes, but the TRK gets ridden a lot. I bought it as an experiment and have been totally happy with it. I've ridden Ireland, Spain, Frànce, Morocco, Gibraltar, UK, all loaded with camping gear and had no problems. What's not to like or fault? I do like the CF, though I'd go for the 800cc.
