@Mordian Glory In reality the PIAT had some advantages. No obvious backblast to give away its position, which also meant you could fire it from an enclosed space like a room in a house, and also it could be used for indirect fire, a bit like a mortar.

Hell yeah!!! More Bolt Action!!! Two other things: 1. Your Germans are pretty shiny, you might want to hit them with a matte varnish to protect the paint and to help them look better on camera. I use citadel munitorum varnish for all my Bolt Action troops and I like the look of it. 2. Try playing Bolt Action with 40k miniatures! Bolter Action!!! Just use Japanese Veterans for Orks vs mixed veterancy Russians or Germans to represent Guardsmen and Space Marines. You would definitely get some attention if you did that!

Silly question, but I don't know where else to put this: Do you have to play Axis vs Allies every time in Bolt Action? Is it against the rules to do Allies V Allies or Axis V Axis? I've never seen anyone do any even slightly Ahistorical battle as far as difference in year for the armies or anything but Allies V Axis. I only ask because me and a couple of friends are thinking about getting in to Bolt Action as a game to break from 40K a bit, but I'd be the only Allied player. I'm also looking at US Marine Corps, while two other want to play Germans.

Nah, you can play anything vs anything. Lore wise you can flavor it as Force on Force style training/wargaming, or even a small attempted coup d'etat

@@TikitheHutt Cool, just making sure. I assumed that was the case, but like I said I've never seen any battle report that wasn't Allies V Axis in the same year setup.

Big thing is it's dependent on where you play, some groups lean more towards historical, and some tournaments may be set up as Axis vs Allies. I think a common relaxed game of Bolt Action it likely won't matter, must of us are just happy to play!

You can play a game with just a 30 man box. A 2 man hq, 2 man light mortar, 2 10 man squads and then a 6 man squad. Gives you a great base to build off and a box is about £30

not that it actually matters now but when the volksgren unit was clipped by the officers howitzer death they would have taken d6 extra pins from the heavy howitzer.

there are - they are actually two different factions. In fact, you actually have four for French: Early War (aka, defenders against the German invasion), Vichy French (which is Axis-allied), Free French (which is DeGaulle and co. following the fall of France fighting with the Allies), and Partisans (which can be many factions, but allows you to play the French Resistance if you'd like - and it gives you access to captured German/Italian vehicles as well). So quite a bit of variety for the French, :)

@@clarkwalter7170 They're pretty good; resistance gets dirt cheap hordes, so there's a lot of questions about whether the opponent has enough dice to actually remove you all, and if you can get those hordes to assault an enemy squad it's a lot of dice in close combat with pistols and such, so it's a good chance you'll do okay in there. The biggest thing is realizing that you're not a traditional army, so not playing like one: rush them up with a truck or other vehicle, weave through terrain to avoid hits, and get in close. For DeGaulle they do pretty well mostly because you get good infantry (which the secret sauce to Bolt Action - infantry are sometimes needed to take objectives, as in this game), and while you don't get any tanks, you do get pretty good armored cars, and you can take 2 in a single platoon. Plus you've got good transports that can both move your troops up and provide supporting fire once you're stuck in. Not necessarily the most competitive factions per se, but they have ways to compete when used rightly

Why didnt you use your medic when the Brit Artillery came in.. Additionally, when HQ got hit by same bombard, they needed to take the extra pins.. didn't matter since both died, but still...

This game looks very nerfed when everything needs a roll of 6 or a 5. For example, the dice rolls for the tanks have a probability of 33% then another of 33% then another of 50%

The tanks didn’t add anything to the battle, just a waste of points. If the battle was a limited number of turns there’s no point being cautious with the tanks and keep them behind cover. You might as well move the tanks out to hose down the enemy infantry.
