I am a teacher and showed this video to my form class this morning. They are year 10 and some of them said it made them want to cry. Great video, particularly good for teachers to show their students and highlight how young the men in the video look (because some of them really were only 16).

Thank you for this. It’s humbling to know that this work can be used help the younger generation understand remembrance and why it’s so important. It’s also great to know that it is resonating with them. Truly thankful for your comment.

We played this today, on Remembrance Sunday, in our church. I am an ex-Royal Navy Leading Weapon Engineer. I was fighting back the tears. My wife is the Senior Pastor of our church, and is serving full-time in the Royal Navy as a Commissioned Officer.

Grandad on my mother's side volunteered for the Royal Navy in the first World War. He'd heard about the trenches in France and Belgium and thought he'd be better off at sea. When he reported for training he said he was give a sailor's hat but a khaki uniform: he joined RND Hawke Battalion after training and went off to the trenches anyhow....

Really interesting to hear about Royal Navy Personnel serving in the trenches. Also my great grandfather was a sailor on the armed merchant ship Orbita in ww1, would anyone know where I could perhaps find his records in any Archives for the Royal Navy?

Ancestry or Forces War Records would be your best bet. Although these sites do charge, they usually offer a free trial around remembrance.

RND went ashore and fought with distinction at Gallipoli. By the time they got to the western front they were seasoned and it were feared and respected by the Germans. There's a book called Khaki Jack that covers the RNDs war. Couple of quid on amazon

our history teacher showed this to us this morning, about half of my class had tears running down their faces, and then some people were on the verge of tears. it really is a moving video that gives a greater understanding of the human aspect of war, and make you realise that these soldiers that sacrificed themselves were just normal people like us.
