It goes without saying that Orbison had one of the greatest voices of all time ( and my personal favorite ), but let’s also stop to appreciate how beautiful the following lyrics are: “All the rainbows in the sky, start to weep and say goodbye. You won’t be seeing rainbows anymore.”

Even at my age now of 76 I still revel in the music of the 60's and 70's. It was all the greatest back then and we didn't know how spoiled we were to be in that great era of music. Roy Orbison had a very unique voice and his music was some of the best and will live on forever.

Roy Orbison is the anti-modern singer. He didn't need rely on a flashy stage show, auto tuning, over mixing, a raucous lifestyle to make headlines. He was quite simply, yet so supremely...a voice. A voice that alone stirs, still today, so many souls. Mine included. And I think that's exactly how he preferred it to be. Just a man, some lyrics scribbled by his broken heart and that voice that leaves us all a little better off in life, for having been graced by it. Imagine how excited the choirs of angels were when our dear Roy joined them that day. We all love you Roy and gratefully keep your memory alive today. Thank God for Roy Orbison and his gift to us.

There's a reason nobody tried to cover Roy's songs; nobody could match, or even approach his voice. The range, the beautiful tone, the strength, and the sadness was totally unique. I was 13 when I heard him for the first time on Ed Sullivan singing 'Pretty Woman' in 1964. Have not heard a voice to compare since. But it was more than just the voice. He sang love stories and the heart he put into them made them epics. He had a difficult life despite his talent. I hope he's found peace, and I hope he knows how much he meant to so many.

The unexpected twists and turns of chords and numbers of beats, the completely non-standard unconventional construction of the verses... no A-B-A-B-Middle 8-Chorus-Repeat for Roy Orbison. This song is stunning in its beauty and structure. That voice, those songs, and he was always such a kind gentleman -- beauty, integrity, elegance and power in motion.

You know, it must have been surreal, but back in the day, Orbison was touring with the Beatles!!! Their music styles are so completely different, I just can't imagine the same audience listening to Orbison and the Beatles in the same venue.. Roy said, when the Beatles performed you couldn't hear them because of the screaming and hysteria and he just thought what's the point of that.. but when he sang, you could hear a pin drop and then he got applaud after. Roy said as he got more famous and was performing to thousands and some of the girls began screaming and wanting to touch and grab him from the edge of the stage and after the show, that scared him. He wasn't that kind of entertainer. I remember Roy told of his first encounter with the Beatles when he was pushed into touring with them in USA.. he had no idea who they were. And in the venue they had put cardboard cut-outs of the Beatles logo and faces etc where Roy had to rehearse..and he said move all this stuff off the stage....what the hell's a beatle anyway?? John tapped him on the shoulder and said, I'm one. lol

Paul and Ancila .........quite right. Fast-forward to when Roy was with The Traveling Wilburys, another “Beatle” George Harrison remarked how incredibly difficult it was to even concentrate when a man with such an incredible voice was alongside him. George said Roy’s voice gave him “chills”. It’s nothing short of astonishing to think this performance was only a little over a year before Roy died, imo, his voice was better than ever!

"It's Over" is my all time favorite but it seems the hardest to find and at the bottom of some of his play list. Then again the Beatles had more hits and for a while than any artist, you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing any one of theirs. Now they seem to have never been around.

This would have to be one of my favourite Roy Orbison songs. There is poetry in lines such as "Golden Days before they end..." combined with the almost operatic climax as the song finishes. Beautiful, nothing else matches this in the world of popular music.

truly remarkable man, artist and human being. One of his sons said that his Dad lived for the high notes....he was so right. It takes you and moves you somewhere you cannot quite desribe or know but it is sure unforgettable and unique. It moves you with a mixture of soaring sadness and undeniable loss of what a broken heart can do

it's 1960 - I'm 11 yrs old with a small transistor radio, living in Vegas - listening and singing to, crying to, smiling to, memorizing and being mesmerized by this golden voice - that was over 50 yrs ago and he's my "go to" listening just because - I didn't know what a broken heart was nor had I been in or out of love yet - but just one of those people who I connected with entirely because of the beauty of his songs and voice.

I'm in Melbourne Australia at the same time and I'm 10 years old also listening to Roy on my little transistor. Fortunately I got to see him live in the mid 70's, and its a concert I'll never forget.

CORRECTION: that no one can do NOT that no body can do - The emphasis is on 'One' Learn correct grammatical legal English A BODY is a DEAD entity. How many of YOU are there in existence on this earth ? It's a simple question that you FAILED to ask yourself because you were programmed to be a ZOMBIE ZOMBIES have eyes but cannot see - ears and cannot hear. Make sure you learn to pay attention to detail Now write an essay on the importance and significance of 'one' It's about 8 lines of text My youngest students age 8 completed the essay successfully. You will not be able to do it as those students are academically more advanced than you. * reply in seven days with your completed essay Good luck
