Thank you so much! Excellent instructions on how to unplug the auger. It took a while, but it wasn't hard. My Rectec RT-700 is working again!

Thank you, Rec-Tec! This video solved the problem I was having when the pellets hardened (they got wet during a rain)and the blades wouldn't turn. Thanks for answering the phone on a Sunday and leading me to this video. Cheers!

Thank you RecTec this video solved my problem as well! I bought pellets that had too much dust in them and it piled up in the hopper and during the smoke the temperature drastically dropped. I thought it was the auger but luckily everything is fine just had to clean it!

We're glad to hear our video was able to help you troubleshoot! Too much pellet dust can definitely interfere with the function of the grill. Please don't hesitate to give us a call for any questions or concerns, also! (706) 922-0890 🤘

Did a rookie mistake and ran out of pellets on my RT-300 mini. Added pellets and thought I had an issue since the temperature wouldn't go up and observed that the auger was going real slow and stopping. After watching this video waited 3 minutes after the auger initially stopped and it did restart again. Only issue was operator error. Thanks.

First, i appreciate rec tec realizing this is a common issue (at no fault of their own) but instead often due to customers (like myself) leaving the smoker uncovered and exposed to the elements. That being said, having had to repair this myself today, there are a lot of design improvements rec tec should make to future units. A pellet dump at the bottom so you dont have to grab them out by hand The white part connecting to the auger having allen wrench screws at a terrible angle makes no sense at all. Use phillips screws here. One of the screws ended up getting stripped due to terrible angle and i had to get it out with needle nose pliers. Finally notice in the video how the guy doesnt show himself reinstalling the shear bolt into the auger either. Another part with a terrible angle that was a massive pain to reinstall

Taking the pellets out of the hopper is a pain, why is there not a door to empty the hopper. Not just for trouble shooting but to change pellets, using my oven today . Very disappointed in the grill.

I'm bad about leaving my cover off. Never had a problem in 5 years till now lol. Been lucky I guess. This video got me right though

Good video for removing auger I would just add a few things needle nose pliers for putting back the shear pin 2 washers and nut I also added a shoe box under my work area in case I drop the tiny parts also run the motor to match the auger holes I lined mine up on the horizontal. The problem I was having was I heard a knocking from the auger and found the shear pin loose and digging into nylon spacer.

What do you do if it sounding like it keeps turning. And doesn't stop? I have the RT 1250

Do you have any specifications for the shear bolt? I've gone through a couple and just tried a bolt, which broke almost immediately.

Why are there no parts available for my 3-year-old rt340 ? since you dont have parts its junk
@Rcing1013 жыл бұрын
For those saying you had pellets get wet, did you have the cover on it? I'm looking at getting a unit, with a cover, but I don't know if the cover is enough. I don't have anywhere that I can put it to keep it in cover.

please look at posting a few basic instructions that are searchable on the site. I appreciate the enthusiasm and troubleshooting, but I know exactly what was wrong and just needed to know how to remove the auger. Since it's a Sunday, I couldn't call.

Just unjammed my 590, that was such a royal pain, now that it’s fixed im considering selling it lol. At least make it easy to get the pellets out with a dump door
@andrewkramski97183 ай бұрын
I've ruined no less than 5 cookouts due to a jammed auger on my RT-590. Pretty sad when you got 5 babybacks for a party and a smoker that constantly jams. So much that my friend who recommended me a rec tec is no longer someone I can trust. You pay a higher price for that sense of reliability. That's what I was expecting. Not some piece of garbage auger that jams ever month,.
