The grill itself is reading 250. One percentage point of 250 is: 250 /100 = 2.5 degrees. There’s a 25 degree difference between your thermometer reading of 225 at cooking level and it’s BELOW the 250 the Rec Tec is reading. So, you want to DEDUCT enough percentage points of temperature to have the Rec Tec match your trusted thermometer. 25 degrees / 2.5 degrees = 10, so you enter negative 10 percentage points to have the Rec Tec match your thermometer.

Grill is set at 250. Temp probe x2 are reading 300-310 is there enough to offset this? Been wondering why food is burning or cooking fast. I have not been real happy I hope to get this fixed

Do you feel this is something that needs to be done? Does the probe in there match up with a probe at grate level?

Press and hold the settings button. Then, press the settings button once afterwards to get to the OFS screen!

I am not that great at math. What is the formula to calculate the offset?

Original Number - New Number and then Decrease = Decrease ÷ Original Number × 100
2 years late but going through the example in the video to maybe explain it better. Their grill was reading the actual temp as 250 but their trusted temp probe was reading 225. To get the % they did 250/100=2.5. 2.5 is how much one % is equal to. 250-225=25 and 25/2.5=10 meaning they need to offset by 10% You can replace 250 and 225 with whatever your grill is reading and what your trusted probe is telling you.

I’m grilling steaks and the set point is 225 but grill is readying 249. I’m not sure what type of temperature difference is normal? Is it because I’m cooking food? Can you use the temperature probes to check calibration or do I need a separate grill thermometer?

@@recteq why not answer the question on here? You put the video up and people want to hear the answer.

@@wwjj64 Exactly. I am having the same issue. This grill is useless to me if it can't maintain / display a correct temp. I am going to try a fix but if it doesn't work, I am done with this company. I am better off using a good old Weber kettle.
