What was Asus thinking having the LED lamp right at the front? Otherwise great monitor it seems, especially with the viewing angles. It astonishes me how bad the viewing angles on IPS Displays are even if they cost two or three times of what the ProArt costs. The only thing I do wish it has here would be 240 Hz. It's always talked like Hz are for gaming but they are great overall. I do take the lower Hz though for actually having a good calibration AND better viewing angles then all the gaming monitors though.

When you say the variable refresh rate sync works via displayport, does this include the displayport spec of the USB-C connection or will it need to be hooked up via DP separately? I want to avoid as much cable clutter as possible, but I still care about variable refresh.

Hi Jenny, yes it will work with DP alt mode as well. You're good to go!

Thanks for the detailed review. I chose the PA278QV and am very happy with the text sharpness for typical office applications. The Gigabyte M27Q is of course better for gaming, but I'm still more convinced by the PA278QV. It could only be a bit less reflective. The only problem is the HDMI 1.4 connector; I guess correctly that even with the help of an HDMI 2.0 EDID adapter I can't enter a 4k 60fps singal to get a downsampled image in 1440p?

"I can't enter a 4k 60fps singal to get a downsampled image in 1440p" - What do you mean by that? Isn't your computer supposed to provide proper scaling? 1440p monitor is not going to benefit from 4K "signal". Am I missing something here?

Ive watched the video and read the review article on your website. Now I’ve bought this monitor because its says in the article that this monitor has a 94 score on the Color Accuracy (Pre-Calibration) and that was important for me. But here you give It 85 score. What is the correct score?

@@RTINGSdotcom Thank you for the clear up. To follow up. I got the PA278CV yesterday and Im very glad I went with the information you provided. It was between this one and Gigabyte M27Q. But I don't have a calibration tool so I went with the Asus. Ive exported a couple of my artwork sitting in sRGB mode and for the first time in a very long time they almost look the same as what Im seeing on the computer screen on my phones and tablets. Ive also tried to load up your profile (I know Its not optimal) juts for fun. And to my surprise your profile on standard with a brightness of around 11-15 is almost identical to the monitors sRGB mode to the eye, thats just awesome. Thank you very much.

HI I bought the PA278CV to use with my MacBook M1. It charges when plugged in via USB Type-C but it does not detect it as a display. HDMI connects fine. I'm using the standard type-c cable that came with my MacBook. Did you test this with any apple products? Any ideas how to fix this?
@RTINGSdotcom
@RTINGSdotcom 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Will! We always test on MacBooks using USB0-C if it has the port. In this case, you're likely having issues because your cable is just a charging cable, not a "proper" usb-c cable. You'll need one that can do dp alt mode/data/power delivery. Hope this helps!

@@LovroSabljak its great. Simple and effective monitor. Colors are true to life stock, which is nice since everyone hates calibrating. The light bleed is there and thats what I dislike the most, black levels are just alright. I can't expect much at the price so what it does, it does well.
@LovroSabljak
@LovroSabljak Жыл бұрын
@@robob221 Tnx for answering!! I don't know.. I'm still not sure.. people say quality control on gigabyte is not good and I don't know if I can trust factory calibration since unlike asus they don't claim anything so it can vary a lot from unit to unit.. I would like to get accurate colors since I do photo and video work, but I would also like a bit higher refresh rate, not for gaming because I don't game much but just for overall use.. and wider color gamut is nice, but for now I only really need sRGB and Rec 709 to be as acurate as possible.. The only thing stopping me to get asus is 75hz (at least better than 60) ..
@robob221
@robob221 Жыл бұрын
@@LovroSabljak I would stray from 144hz screens if you are focused on photo editing and minimal gaming. There are compromises at lower price points if you want fast and accurate. Stick to photo editing focused monitors that have decent refresh rates. Rting's would know more than me as far as recommending goes. The gigibyte is accurate out of the box due to its newer panel but its only 2k res with a weird pixel layout so some text just looks off. I would say buy the gigabyte if you game just as much as you work but since thats not the case go with another monitor.
@LovroSabljak
@LovroSabljak Жыл бұрын
@@robob221 There is Gigabyte G27Q which is cheaper, has 144hz instead of 170 and has RGB pixels.. The only thing missing is kvm which I 100% don't need... I don't know, Gigabyte still has wider color gamut then Asus.. I would have to make my mind somehow and just buy a damn monitor lol

Hi, I just bought the ASUS ProArt PA278CV, I was strongly undecided between the PA278CV and the Dell S2721QS, overall which one is the best ? The use I make of the monitor is very generic (therefore both monitors could be fine) home/office, multimedia, therefore web browsing, reading texts, viewing multimedia contents, every now and then I also edit some videos, I don't care gaming. I was looking for a monitor without black bleed and ips glare but as this is not possible at this point i am just trying to go with the least worst, for me black uniformity is important for viewing multimedia. The Dell S2721QS in terms of color accuracy after calibration is almost identical to the ProArt PA278QV, but I should buy a colorimeter to calibrate the Dell S2721QS, I chose the ProArt PA278QV because it is already factory calibrated, the black uniformity is clarity some text looks superior to me on the Dell S2721QS. In the end I don't know if I made the right choice ?
@RTINGSdotcom
@RTINGSdotcom Жыл бұрын
Honestly, it's going to come down to what's more important to you since the Dell S2721QS and the ASUS ProArt Display are both great 27 inch office monitors. The Dell has a 4k resolution, whereas the ASUS is 1440p; however, the difference might not be very noticeable at typical viewing distances. Feature-wise, the Dell has a Picture-in-Picture mode, but the ASUS has USB ports, including a USB-C that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and 65W charging. Feel free to check out our full comparison here though: www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/asus-proart-display-pa278cv-vs-dell-s2721qs/22806/16917?usage=3623&threshold=0.10 :)

@@RTINGSdotcom Thank you for replying, yes I knew the characteristics of both monitors, I have already seen the comparison of the two monitors, without trying the monitors it is perhaps impossible to say which one best suits my needs. For viewing multimedia content maybe the Dell is better? Black uniformity seems superior to me on the Dell. By now however I bought the PA278CV, perhaps the QHD resolution of the Asus PA278CV is more suitable for a 27 inch monitor. The Asus PA278CV in general from what I understand suffers from BACKLIGHT BLEEDING
@CanaleYouTubeGeneralista

@Mateusz Graczyk Thanks for your feedback, do you think Dell monitors in this price range have less backlight bleeding ? I was undecided between the ASUS PA278CV and the Dell S2721QS, which do you think is better between the two ? In the end are you satisfied with your ASUS PA278CV ? My monitor arrives tomorrow, I don't consider it that cheap, I paid 359€ for it, the Dell S2721QS cost 329€ the other day, then the offers change every day.
