I agree!! Nothing is worse then when you are watching an interview and they are about to make a fantastic point and the interviewer interrupts it in the point goes unsaid. Some of these people have access to people that we will not ever have access to So when somebody actually lets them be heard I am extremely grateful period

“I can’t live with myself anymore” Eckhart said at 29 at the peak of his suicidal depression. Then he stood back from the statement and thought, “That’s strange. Are there two of me? Who is this self that I can’t stand?”. This triggered his spiritual awakening and his realization that he was not his tortured thinking mind but was peaceful presence and conscious awareness.

I got teary because I’ve never resonated with religion my entire life, but hearing what ET interpreted what Jesus said just feels right. Finding the spaciousness within oneself is where the kingdom of heaven is. It’s not a place in the sky and it’s not in the outside world. Heaven is in the dimension within our consciousness. that’s friggin beautiful

If you were to go back to ancient Greece and many ancient civilisations around the world from the Aztecs to Angkor Watt, they all paid homage to the Pineal Gland, which is located at the centre of your forehead. They knew this way back. So when you pray, you close your eyes and look up in that general direction. Say a prayer. Try and communicate with the Guru within, and you may get a reply... I believe in you!

I found this book during the death of my marriage after finding out my husband had conceived a child with another woman. I remember standing in my room starring out the window and having a moment similar to what Eckhart talks about in the first 6 mins of this video. The book changed my life. I’ve read his books more times than I can count now. Every time I start to slip into unconsciousness or come to listen to Eckhart or read his teachings. ✨

@@rednarok I have read his books. I spent years involved in new age thought without calling it that because new agers dont like "labels". The power of now is one of the first books every new ager starts with. Oprah Winfrey has been the queen of propping up all these new age celebrities and their books. Ekar Tolle, Depak Chopra, Rhonda Byrne and many more. At the end of the day all these people are charlatans giving you a belief system for you think that you can be like god. This is a very seductive path to take because everyone wants to be god, create, manifest and be enlightened. Not going to happen unless you sell your soul willingly or blindly. The truth is that no human can ever become god, no human can ever create life. From the begining of humanity, humans have fallen to temptation to be like god and this has been the very root of all our problems. Read Genesis in the Bible. There is only one God, he is Jesus Christ, the King of kings and the only saviour from human's fallen state. Dont let these new agers tell you who Jesus was, do your diligent research and become aware why he came to the world. You can choose to try to be god and see on your own where this deception takes you. At the end of the day God gave us all free will, it is up to us to use it wisely or not

@@manuelabeltran Jesus is just another name going down to mythology like the rest of hundreds of prophets and gods, but we should not discredit the meaning behind said religions, just the fanatics ruling them. Humans are life, we arent separate from it, we are its consciousness, and from it something new will arise just as we did from the primates who ruled this planet for millions of years. ,i am not discrediting what you believe and i respect anyone who settles for anything. i do not respect those who preach fear in whatever form. i will continue to persue the truth even if i become the most lonely person in this universe, at least i have the choice if i wanted to settle anywhere. still no matter how lucid the thoughts, in the end the only thing that matters is to try reduce the suffering of the future humanity...

The key to psychological strength lays in the way a person encounters the world. Many people think that objective numerical figures determine everything. However this is actually not the case. Those who gain confidence only when they are fully embellished externally or when things work out smoothly, tend to be vulnerable more than anybody else. Because there are so many conditions that have to be met for bringing themselves out into the world, that are encountered with numerous obstacles in that process. On the contrary, if you have the ability to open up yourself to the world with ease, that indicates that you have mental power. Such individuals with inner confidence may not stand out at first glance, yet people tend to be drawn to those individuals and are persuaded by them. Even in moments of failure or uncertainty, they do not sway and are rather immersed with what they can do. Most of those who conceal themselves with external factors- whether it be looks or wealth - tend to break down in these situations. Those who had approached these “flashy” people realize their true faces and start distancing themselves.

*My* main takeaways from this video: • No human being can manifest behaviour that is beyond their level of consciousness. • "Forgive them for they know not what they do." - They are unconscious. • Unconscious - you are at the mercy of the conditioning of your mind and your emotions. • Don't make unconscious behaviour from the past into an identity for yourself or others. • It is true unconscious people are not responsible for what they do, but they will have to suffer the consequences of their unconsciousness. • Humans are meant to become more conscious. One of the ways an unconscious human being potentially evolves to be more conscious is by suffering the consequences of their unconsciousness.

No. He's simply explaining the difference between your thoughts and your consciousness. If you have never practiced mindfulness, this might be a difficult concept to grasp. The majority of people have a constant stream of thoughts that stop them from existing in the present moment. This can have terrible consequences if the thoughts are of a negative nature; it is how anxiety disorders and depression come about. By learning how to stop these thoughts, you will be able to exist in the present moment. It's a calming, freeing and peaceful state of being.

The teaching of Jesus and the teaching of Buddha. Both religions say the same thing, but from a different point of view. Islam and Judaism are different, more cruel and exclusive instead of compassionate like true Christianity (the teachings of Jesus, not the Catholic Church) and Buddhism are. In terms of practicality, Zen Buddhism is probably the most linear path to enlightenment- with its many instructions that Eckhart also incorporated, to finding God.

I was going through some bad mental health in college, constant anxiety/depression (not unlike most college kids) but I was heavily using alcohol and porn as a crutch, longing for companionship but repelling everyone with my current state, stuck in the cycle. Then on a summer off I delivered subs for Jimmy John's using my dad's car, and found my dad had all Eckart's New Earth on CDs in the player, and it would just start playing when I'd start driving. I had no clue who he was, or what his shtick was all about, but eventually I became obsessed with it, like my new bible, and it really helped change my life. Probably a million of these kinds of posts, but the power of now really helped me to get out of being depressed and full of anxiety. Oddly, so did Jordan Peterson. They're two opposite approaches to the issue, but i'd say Eckart Tolle's plane way of guiding you into a state of peace was very effective. I hadn't slept in about 5-6 days and ended up going to the hospital thinking I had a heart attack, at the hospital the doctors were pretty useless, but the nurse staff was amazing. One of them, a gentleman by the name of Dennis recommended the Power of Now to me. I got the audio book and started listening to it that day on the plane to Colorado. By the time my wife and I got into our Airbnb, I was feeling much more calm. That night I slept for the first time in a week, almost 3 hours of sleep. Hilarious how much that meant to me at the time, I just couldn't sleep and actually just meditating my way into unconsciousness was tremendously helpful. After that I was able to regularly get at least a few hours of sleep every night. About 2 months went by with me getting progressively more sleep, and then just one night, I simply passed out for about 16 hours. I still practice much of what Tolle talks about. It changed my life for the better. Thank you for having him on and potentially helping people who may be stuck in that same way of thinking.

@@boltonlaurie1136 I am indeed. I'm back to being able to sleep around 7-8 hours a night. It's usually pretty consistent. On occasion I'll have a very difficult time sleeping, and I'll just lay in bed and focus on my breathing. Aligning my thoughts with what I'm actually doing. I'll lay their for 4-5 hours and be in a sort of semi, conscious state, where I'm mostly just focusing on being internally silent, and usually feeling the rhythm of my body. That only lasts for a night most times. On two occasions it lasted for a weekend. I still feel pretty rested, but I'm not to the point where meditation is in anyway better than sleep. I should note it has helped me lower my bloodpresure by a substaintial amount, about 25 points systolic, 20 points diastolic and. Used to have a blood preasure of around 155/100, now I'm down to 130/80 average through out the day. Which is helpful because I really didn't want to start taking meds for it. I should note, I also lost 30 lbs, and make sure to exercise every day. I just give credit to meditation for being able to institute self-discipline.

OMG.....The power of this is truly astonishing to me. I sit here in tears halfway through the video just simply stunned. I had to stop it and write this down to remember and reflect on what I just heard. I live as a pessimistic, angry, and anxious person all day. My mind races from thought to thought completely controlled from my past experiences. This has defined me to this point. I didn't even realize or know why I felt like I do about so many things, I just accepted it as being uniquely "just me". There is hope for happiness beyond just " acquiring stuff" or accomplishments in life like a carved hash mark for the record. To be able to "just be happy" and undo the burden of the negativity that predominately runs my life would be such a relief. To see that there is another way and possibly a way to do it. Thank You Dave for bringing these things to people that other wise might never have a chance. I am forever grateful.

The way to identify good spiritualism is this; It is not dogmatic, it is metaphorical, and it is influenced by more than one spiritual text. It is okay to quote the bible. If you also quote Buddha, and Mohammed, etc. In a way that paint a moral virtue rather than a dogmatic commandment.

The Power Of Now influenced me immensely when I read it 7 years ago. Particularly the part about how that negative voice in your head isn't me. I used to have terrible thoughts about people in my mind and feel like I was a terrible person for it. But once I realised that voice wasn't me and I stopped giving it power by associating it with my identity, it disappeared. Eckhart is not important, what he says is. The mind will trick one very easily, it will help you switch from Alcohol to Eckhart but it will never allow you break dependencies (books, drugs, alcohol, Eckhart, Gautama the Buddha etc) and ask yourself the question "who is this 'I'?" that everyone refers every time. Also please note that "Who am I?" is not a question, instead it is a device, for you to turn your attention from outward to inward. Why you have to look inward? the reason is: "What you pay attention is what you become conscious of". Key is in ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION. Other keywords that are important are Alertness, Awareness, and Consciousness. Alertness helps us to find where our attention is. Once you are attentive you consciously use awareness to navigate the world consciously. When you point that alert attention on yourself what you find is YOURSELF itself.

It's hard not to want to be a better "human being" after listening to Tolle's pearls of psychological wisdom. I've been a psychologist/psychotherapist for many years, and his analysis of the nature of the mind and the problem it poses for us - the endless flow of thoughts and feelings the mind produces, esp. the negative, conditioned inner narratives that lead to anxiety and depression - is as brilliant as I've heard. I'm grateful that Tolle shares his knowledge and wisdom here in this interview - and Dave, you do an excellent job as usual. Thanks for this!

Eckhart is such an 'inane platitude free zone', rare among spiritual teachers. He just tells it like it IS, and in such a clear, eloquent, direct, experience-oriented way. Deeper consciousness/awareness just unfolds naturally in this man's presence. This is so what we need now in the face of all the fear-mongering. Great choice of interview Dave, and I so recommend his books and other interviews on youtube to everyone while we're in imposed 'social distancing'. Best thing we could focus on. :-)

And actually discard our old ego, and truely live our very best life and be authentic to ourselves for the first time. Thank you Eckhart for all the good you do in this world. Your a bright light to all of us who have been lost in the dark for so long. And now we see the light & our true purpose & meaning in this world. And acceptance of when it comes to us dying and passing over to the other side (when our time comes), that we do not need to fear, we can let go, and leave our old broken bodies behind & know everything is in Gods hands. This man is speaking 100% truth. I just want to add that when you bring your attention inside you may discover only trauma and toxic shame, especially if you are only beginning to practice presence. Trauma and toxic shame are results of past abuse, which we all suffer at the hands of unconscious people in our lives. Because we too were unconscious at the time, we did not process them. Therefore they remain lodged in the body as energy (fear in the case of trauma, suffering in the case of toxic shame). So when we bring focus inside, these energies activate and become conscious to us, and they *will* overwhelm you. Don't be disheartened. Don't listen to the voice that tells you it's not worth it or that you're not worth it. Each minute of consciousness is like filtering a teaspoon of water in an olympic sized swimming pool. At first you will be overwhelmed and feel like you're going nowhere, but if you repeat the process every day those teaspoons add up, and before you know it consciousness begins to take over and you can finally get a glimpse of this dimension of spaciousness that Eckhart is discussing.

@@jamienelson3470 You're welcome! Eckhart's simplified, no-frills approach to enlightenment makes his material really accessible, and it has always helped me keep my eye on the prize. But it also ignores the rough edges and difficulties which are inevitable on a spiritual journey, and I found I had to fill the gap with other sources and teachings.

"The ego feels stronger the more enemies it has." Wow. The trinity of awareness, yin (compassion) and yang. Love this interview. This is the second time I've watched it, YT was on point with this recommend., I got so much more from it from watching at 3am after waking up from uneasy sleep.

Whaaaaaat? He doesn’t even look 60 to me. 😳 I thought he was in his 50s.... he has such a young face. I’m seriously shocked that he is 71.

May the Internet and KZbin (or whatever may follow both one day) preserve this interview as the tremendous gem of embodied enlightenment it is, thus serving seekers on the path to becoming/being their true essences! So much wisdom neatly wrapped up for us in an easy-to-digest moment of time (or so the hour and half seemed to me). Thank you to Dave, Eckhart and all those who assist them to get these messages out there for all of us to harvest. It‘s the beast Spiritual Takeaway Food I‘ve had the pleasure of assimilating for quite some time, and rings true in every utterance. 🙏
