Have to laugh at this a little. I was watching an old vid from 12 years ago by Clark Customs. the folks that got his .22 thing started in the comp. world. well, o'l Jim clark had a rather nice scope on it an people made fun of it in the vid for a large scope on a .22. LOL! they did me as well back when pcp airguns were first getting really popular. I had and still use Zeiss on them. Fast forward to today, and now everything has reversed. Using a a 3x9 is like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Wow have times changed. Back in 1976 I had Ray Judge at Judge's gun shop and gun smithing put a 1" dia, 24 inch douglas or Hart, don't remember now on my ruger 10-22 sporter. He thought I was nutts. It shot brilliantly. This was years before Jim clark started doing it. He to thogt his customer was nuts but quickly change his mind when orders became over 500 a year for them. The naysayers made fun of me when I started experimenting with making slugs and testing theories out for PCP airguns as well. Now look at them! My wife says I am always put down for my work that most times ends up being ahead of its time. Later to become not only accepted, but changing how things are done. My how times have changed! Big shout out to Cyclops Joe Reah! KnifeMaker/Retired after over 47+ Years in the Craft.

It’s your fault. I’m going to blame you for getting me addicted to .22 target rifles. You planted the seed and it sprouted. I’m sure it will now cost me my retirement money…but what’s a guy to do? Your videos are great. Keep on feeding my new addiction.😊

The smith I trained with was threading actions for the 10/22 match rifles back in the 90's, and we saw amazing groups with those- but it didn't come cheap.
@lmbear4 ай бұрын
Cool to see more people shooting this with their 10/22's. Your score looks like a solid 120 to me. Not only looks like, but is. You are scoring some obvious 4's as 5's. etc.. Great score, considering you are only using a 3-9 scope!!!!
@Dayattherange4 ай бұрын
Thank you -- Not sure what you mean counting 4's as 5's the outer thick green line is 4 and I for sure ONLY had 1.

Impressive 10/22. Just for giggles swap to a higher powered scope to see what the gun can really do.

I think it looked good with a 6 x 24 Veridian mylex. Their first focal plane scopes. Top-notch Glass I’ve mentioned them before to you.
@Dayattherange4 ай бұрын
You have mentioned them before but the product never seems to be in stock at least on their website. When I called them I couldn't get anyone to pick up and I am a bit old fashion I would at least like to speak to someone. Just in case I have a problem I know I can reach someone.

Very nice ! The threading combined with a benchmark is the winning combo! Nice stock on the new rifle ! If the slip in is like Kidd rifles, where you have to heat the receiver and freeze the barrel, that type of slip fit is more like a compression fit . I don’t know if there would be much improvement by threading . If the slip fit is loose, there is no doubt the threading helps imo. Come back with a higher power scope big fella . That rifle will throw down with anything !

Very nice. that puppy is a shooter! Cheers
@michaelsegel87584 ай бұрын
You have two major issues. Ammo and your scopes. (What's the spread in the ammo?) And you've commented enough on the scope. Put the same type and model of glass on both. Both works well, but I think the threaded is a bit better.
@GuyGooding-q9o4 ай бұрын
Lights out shooting & wicked groups with both rifles!! Try an Arken or Discovery optics 6-24 or 5-25 on the Benchmark! Enjoy those rifles and keep your videos coming ! Cheers man !

Thank you and thank you for the recommendations.
@HSmith-uk9hl4 ай бұрын
Both are fine shooting rifles but based on the 3~9 scope on the threaded barrel, I give the edge to it. Put a higher power scope on it and do the comparison again.

Hombre, not sure what you paid AWT nor am I asking but, any new glass you get should stay appropriate. Arken scopes are fine but get the EP5 it is better than SH4J however the later is just fine if you stay 16x to 18x. The EP5 is actually able to go 20-22x before that eye box chokes. If you paid 2700+ to AWT then get a friggin NF8 and be done. That rifle will do better than you can so don’t screw around on glass. Because of the accuracy you may find it very competitive out in the 300-400 extremes. You’ll have to beat the bolt guns which is what I shoot. Nonetheless, bring it on! My man it looks promising even with the junktex scope. Oh and really like that Timney right? Reset is nice

Nice Comparison Elijah! I like the new one better! Beautiful firearm my friend! I say put this on top! ::: BlackHound EMERGE 3-24×56 FFP MOA .... whatch you think man? 🧐🤔 But yeah, that 3x9 needs to come off ASAP! 🤣😛 Thanks for sharing man! 👍🤙

Emerge line I hear is nice but I thought a 34MM tube might look a little odd not to mention wow the rings alone for 34MM are 140 bucks and up.

If you don’t mind spending some money, get a Sightron SIII 10-50X60 scope. I own three of them. On a tight budget, try a Mueller 8-32. I own one. Medium cost - Athlon 10-40. I own two. For the ultimate 10/22, have Joe Chacon build you one of his custom benchrest guns. They can come very close to the best unlimited bolt guns.
@Dayattherange4 ай бұрын
I thought Joe got out of that business. I am very happy with this build just need to do some ammo testing. Thanks for the tips on the scopes.

Do you ever do any of those challenges in 17 hmr? Or are you just a 22 guy?
@Dayattherange4 ай бұрын
Don't own any 17hmr, many shops around here and even big box stores do not carry the ammo so I have stayed away from it. All my ammo would then need to be ordered online prefer not.

@Dayattherange4 ай бұрын
Yes I watched your video nice shooting and I did add you to the scoreboard. I would try some Norma TAC22 in your rifle it is about the same price as the PMC. If your rifle shoots like that with PMC it will shoot better with TAC22
@Shoot_Reload_Repeat4 ай бұрын
That's funny you said that because I just got done ordering Norma TAC22, Norma match, Eley Semi-Auto Benchrest Outlaw, SK Rifle Match, and Eley Target hopefully one of them shoots good in this rifle lol
