Nice shooting. I've enjoyed your series on the Ruger 77/357. It'll interesting to hear what the rifle sounds like when compared to a 223/556 rifle for noise report.

22 grains of H-110 (max load according to Hogdgon) 125 grain hornady XTP. 1/2 inch group at 100 yards with my 77/357.

anthony Haynes that's awesome, I just got a 77/357 and I have a bunch of that exact load already made. 2150fps out of mine, no accuracy testing yet.

wavelength1970 I just loaded up 1600 rounds and have another 400 to load. I didnt want to shoot this load through any of my revolvers as it is a maximum load. I did some experiments with a Ruger Blackhawk and a screw fell out, so no revolver shooting with these loads. So I bought a D.E. in 357 (S.S.). It came with a 5 inch barrel with a compensator. I bought a 10" barrel and put my Leupold 2.5-8x on top of it. Groups about 2" at 100.

How's the cheek weld with a scope on it? The one in this video looks like it would feel awkward because the comb of the stock looks rather low. I'm looking at buying one but I don't want to regret a rifle that feels awkward when sighting through the scope.

I will say that at 100 years this rifle hit the steel plate I was shooting with a tremendous amount of force. The Ruger 77/357 is very accurate. From an accuracy standpoint I can tell you that at least my gun is capable of shouts out to 150 yards if not further. In my range report 4 of the Ruger 77/357 magnum I will attempt to show the rifles accuracy at 100 years on steel and particularly on paper.

I will be uploading range report 3 on the Ruger 77/357 in a day or two. The gun runs .38 special very reliably. In my table top of this rifle or range report 4 I will try to do some penetration tests on plywood at 100 years possible out to 150 years with factory .357 magnum loads. The reality is that I have no idea about the lethality of a .357 magnum round at all. I have never shot anything other than steel or paper with a .357 magnum.

Maybe it's time to educate yourself on the Paul Harrell new and improved Meat Target. That will give you some different data.

GearTester thanks for this video! I too am a proud owner of this carbine and have also noted its fine accuracy... 2" groups with iron sights at 50yds just like you. But one thing I noticed - you are having the same problem as me. Note your very last shot in the video. The cartridge "catches" just a bit halfway into the chamber. This happens to me about 40% of the time on my gun and I am sending it back to Ruger to see if there's anything they can do about it. How often do you have this problem?

What is the recoil of that Ruger 77/357 magnum compare to 12 gauge shot gun? Thank you.

The recoil is very light when compared to a 12 gauge.

Caleb Melton I'v fired the 180 grain hard cast Buffalo Bore round out of this rifle. It's a really fast and hard hitting round.

Did you find that 100 yards what the Max you would use this rifle? There is a lot of debate regarding the 357 and +100 yard ranges. I feel that a 357 loaded to saami specs should be accurate/have enough power to at least 150 yards.
@constitutionalrepublican16115 жыл бұрын
Ive touched things much further with a revolver in .357 I have no doubt a rifle will do better with a trained individual behind it due to the added pressure. As for knockdown power idk, when I made my shot it took down a 43lb coyote that was about 350 yards and I was aimed 12 inches high on it. Was an instakill

Ive weighed my wants over the years between this m77 bolt rifle and a lever action Rossi puma in .357, now its to the point I want both. The Rossi isn't current production any longer they stopped it 2 years ago. Either way I have to locate one of each to add to the "collection"

Try 11.0 gr of AA7 with a 110 gr HPXTP bullet. it will get 1500 fps and shoots smooth.
