im 32 hours in and im still in 3 star low rank. Im just exploring the maps and crafting all kinds of armors and weapons. Im just soaking in the experience and loving every minute of it. I'm 6 hours in after putting in 15 into the demo (which I loved), but find the actual game to be a grind. I just got the Aknosom urgent quest and will be able to go into 3* village hunts after that, but I feel like it's a chore doing fetch quests when you just run simulator everywhere picking everything, even when you know where the green dots are. Still takes me 30-45 minutes per quest to gather stuff and after doing all the 1* it really sucked the passion for me out of playing and I wanted to go back to the demo to actually fight monsters, not play Mushroom Hunter. I do love the settings of Kamura and the maps and monsters look so good, though I don't understand much about crafting and forging so afraid to even do that yet and waste all the things I'm gathering. Kudos on you for enjoying 32 hours of running around though. I need some of that fortitude because I spent $70 on this and it's a chore to play for me so far.

@@SledgePainterArt most if not all gathering quests are NOT required to progress if you dont want to do them. So i dont know what you're talking about. Also, the longest gathering quest takes like 10 minutes to complete. So im not sure what you mean by gathering quests taking you 45 minutes to complete, especially now in Rise because they tell you exactly where to go and you gather everything from each node with one click. Monster Hunter can be grindy, that's very true, but the grind isnt in the gathering quests, it's usually in the end game when you're farming armor sets and decorations. I do understand your frustrations though since most newcomers to the series usually have similar experience to yours. As good as Monster Hunter is, it's not very welcoming to new players, it's really complicated and very hard to get into, but once you get through this rough early phase, it gets so much better and you'll love it. Honestly what's impressed me so far in Rise is that all of the new monsters I've fought so far have been absolutely incredible. Like, Bishatan bleeds character, Magnamalo is frenetic and intense, Goss Harag is a terrifying titan. I love all of them, and can't wait to fight the rest.

As a newcomer to the series, I really appreciate the village quests in terms of difficulty and format. I'm planning to work through all of the village before moving into the hub, but I'm looking forward to the jump in difficulty. After binging on the game every day since release, I'm starting to go back and watch people's content to learn a bit more about the game.

The other thing is don't use the A to call your dog. That only works if hes close to you. Use the shortcut on your radio menu, Or on the other action bar! This actually whistles to your dog To come to you!

you can also set your palamute's behavior to Follow, so they'll be at your side at all times, making it easier to ride them

@@CixousSixth But setting them to follow you, Limits their ability to attack! Especially if your a gunner! They will only be attacking if you are attacking. I want them to continue attacking, Even if I am not, In other words if I'm drinking a potion, Or some other action during the battle! Using the whistle option, Gives you the best of both worlds. Tell continue attacking, and no matter how far away you are They will be there in a second so it's easy to ride

The one thing I miss from World is the player limit settings for quests. 4 Hunters plus buddies feels so crowded to me, I would usually limit my online quests to 2 or 3 players.

If you're in Australia, the amiibos are only available via the Nintendo Online store. There's like very few places that are letting Aussie players know this. Also Palamute figures are limited to 2 per player so they're very aware they have limited stock. Loving the game so far, my daughter and myself are spending alot of time in the expeditions...there's like little swords dotted around the map which we're trying to find as it gives a little story set in the location and it encourages you to poke in every nook and crany of the map...and it's bloody amazing😆

Oh so I'm not the only one suffering with Mizu claw farming. About hunt times, if you just go to kill the monster and not grab anything it's fast, but it doesn't make me feel like I'm using the most out of the game, I dont get much out of the way for spiritbirds, but I really loved using most endemic life during hunts, they're not necessary, but really useful

1:09:00 You CAN save the appearance for Palicoes and Palamutes, then you can just scout only cats and dogs with that appearance but random skills, basically allowing you to reroll your buddies without getting random ones!

The English cutscenes do not have a singing tone to them, they have a dark and foreboding tone. I recommend that if you play in one of the other languages, go to the gallery and play one cutscene in English.

I've just started the video but do they say that? Totally agree it's really sinister and hypes the monster up. Some people can't deal with dubs same as in anime which I find to be nonsense unless you are not a native English speaker. Some dubs are arguably better than the original but that's a whole other debate for other channels.

Regarding the controller, I have a 3rd party controller from 8bitdo and even there running has been difficult because the hunter sometimes doesn't run. I'm now starting to suspect it has something to do with the software with either the game itself or Switch firmware.

in the case of the ecology vids MHR does. the monster hunter language and japanese both sound as if the person was reading poetry but singing as well? while in the english version, the person is talking as if he was 3rd person but also reading poetry? Like the Act of romeo and juliet? where sometimes a man or a woman comes in and recites a paper in rhymes or in poetry to the audience as to tell or show what's to come. usually (at least the one i've been) in a vague and mysterious way.

17:30 I literally got 3 dogs, named them "Market Doggo 1", "Market Doggo 2", "Market Doggo 3", and put them in the subs, and there they shall remain xD, also got 4 cats, "Meowcenary 1" and so forth. They seem to level up just doing those tasks, albeit slower than the dojo, but all the same, will hit 35 eventually, meanwhile my named cats are all the types, training in the dojo, so i can swap out any time. Will eventually have to scout for certain skills and replace them as I go, but good enough for now.

-i was actually spoiled for the final boss because it's wiki page showed up on my google feed on my phone -i think how the balanced the crafting materials is that the reduced double dipping on upgrades. i noticed many upgrades not sharing any materials. for example, "arzuros naginata 1" needs 3 different items from upgrade level 2, and that has different materials to level 3. -with yuna and the silkbind attacks, i noticed that gunners have to use the "r" button to use silkbind attacks. so, if she's using bow, it changes the button bind. i just wanted to add this in case that was the issue as it tripped me up as well

FOR ZENNIES wear gathering 3, start looking from HR>LR>village for tours in cavern, check what has Upsurge in mining ores start the tour, rush up the hill and start a counterclockwise route mining all blue mining nodes (if you eat harvester dango is endless, if not you will have to wait 20 sec if you do it fast). Do first 2 mines, jump down the cliff, continue counterclockwise, get wind to get up repeat untill you get the notification "MAP info update" that means no more upsurge Leave, sell everything you got, profit. In hr you can do 200k+ zenny in 20 minutes

The monster intros in English aren't sang like they are in Japanese they just say the lines menacingly. And for switch skill balance they are all balanced really well except for the greatsword silk bind hunting edge looks awsom but is just laughable in comparison to adamant charge. Adamant charge not only goes straight into tts but it gives the greatsword much needed mobility especially when combined with power sheath gs is just so fast paste now.

You can save the appearence of you palico and palamute i got 15 cats that look like my original pal Also a good way to passivly make money is collecting the cohoot nest in the buddyplaza every other hunt and you will often get silver eggs that sell for 10k each

I'm 34 hours in and about to finish 4 star village and 2 star hub. I've just been taking my time building all available armour and long swords. It's been great. [Edit] Credits rolled 10 minutes after posting this, lol. Definitely agree that village is easier this time around, but I've been having fun learning the fights, farming materials and building the armour and weapons in the village and taking them online.

I've been having issues with my pro controller as well, I have to push down really hard for the L and R buttons to register. My RT trigger has also started making a weird sound as if it's catching or sticking. I've had the controller a little over a week, imagine how bad it'll be in a few months. Glad I'm not the only one. I would use my joycons, but my left one is drifting.

One thing I have really enjoyed is the weapon recipe quests. It's cool to have little things to do in between hunts. Finding all the sub camps and doing all the kamura quests have been really fun. It's a cool idea that's only gotten better.

As a designer myself and someone who appreciates Japanese culture, I would agree that the English cut scenes are pretty well done and very enjoyable in their own right. But to me hearing them in Japanese is clearly the way they were meant to be heard, as every other design choice in those cutscenes (music, lighting, script and performance) also support the traditional Japanese kabuki theater performance aesthetic. These monster intros taken as a whole are an absolute masterpiece of video game design in my opinion.

On the subject of guard reloading. Is it not usable mid combo? Meaning, like guard point, you can use it on command guard the attack, and go into a slame > full burst. It's like Gunlance having its own counter SAED.

Only listen in the beginning, one of the best changes that they made is the rollback feature is available on the get go. You can tries a lot of weapon now without the need to hunt the same thing all over again.

You can save Palamute and Palico visual designs I saved my presets and then just scanned for the skills I wanted but Yes you can save buddy presets

Around 1:10:15 you can make a saved preset of your buddies I have done it

You can save like 5 preset for palicos and palamutes. You don’t have to to recreate it everytime.

Had a World-only friend being super surprised at how versatile and useful my cat (Gathering type with traps and heals) is. As much as I want GU-level complexity in cats, I think this is already overwhelming enough even for "veterans" so to speak. Pretty satisfied with how they made cats good again in Rise! Also, the default support move of Gathering is shooting out endemic life to cause all sorts of status ailments. HE IS NOT A PLUNDERBLADE CAT ANYMORE (it unlocked at lv 20).

As someone who played 50 hours in 4 days, it's been really fun and I'm loving the changes to the insect glaive and the kinsects. Removes all the grinding to get every kinsect 5 times for every element. I've only hit the lottery jackpot once in 50 hours of gameplay
