In Japan we already have a drink called Shochu mizu wari. It means Sochu (the alcohol name) with water and ice. You get your kick and you dont get a hangover the next day. It's truly fantastic. So for sake of arguement an average bottle is between 70cl-1litre of volume at roughly 40%/80proof. Your average jug or pitcher is like 2.5/ 3 litres... If you fill that with ice, let it melt and add water again, and then drink served over ice your drink is over nearly 65%+ water... Which from my horrible maths makes tequila at 40% strength, watered down to the strength of wine, +the hydration powers of water. TL;DR: they basically only consumed 2 bottles of wine (units of alcohol (max) between them (assuming a 3L Jug.)

True story; I had never consumed tequila in my life. I am in the USAF/tech school. The first weekend we could go off base and not be back until 6 pm Sunday, my friend introduced me to tequila. He showed me how to shoot it with lime and salt. He went to shower before we went out for the weekend. He came back from showering and I had consumed about 2/3 of the fifth. I had no buzz. We took a cab ride in to Champaign Illinois for the night/weekend. We went to a bar( 2 story), I had two shots of bar tequila, still no buzz. I remember walking back from the restroom and seeing by 2nd block instructor and patting him on the shoulder and uttering something I couldn't comprehend. That was the last thing I remembered. The next day I was told of things I did that I had no idea that I did.

While your liver is transforming the alcohol, it uses every bit of water it can find to do so, which causes you to dehydrate. And your brain does NOT like dehydration. Taking very diluted cocktails does help not getting a hangover, even if you end up drinking the same amount of alcohol than every one else.

@Blindi Hangovers can be caused by a lot of things (inflammation, sleep disturbances, acetaldehyde buildup and drops in blood sugar), but most of it is when levels of electrolytes change, and so a lot of hangovers can be avoided by simply drinking water especially before you go to bed. You would think that free information in 2020 would stop people from saying stupid things, but yet you did.

Yeh hangover is partly withdrawal from alcohol so 1 drink is a good cure for at least some of it, not 6 drinks tho 😂

If you wanna avoid a hangover drink straight, high quality vodka with ice and nothing else. Its the sugar and calories that cause the dehydration and hangover effect and high quality vodka has basically no calories or sugar. It works better than tequila because tequila has added sugar and other ingredients.
