Interesting debate. It starts to explain why China reacted so decisively against Australia in boycotts of coal, wine, and seafood. Now China turns attention to the Solomon Islands to create anti-western sentiment (anti-American and anti-Australian, acting like colonial masters). The Australian request to WHO to investigate the source of COVID-19 was a pretext by China to advance Chinese influence. Australia stand out as a western country in the South Pacific and as such have always politically and militarily punched above our weight. They even attempted the belt and Road model with limited success. The relationship between Australia and China can never be healed whilst China is authoritarian. The biggest issue this century is authoritarian vs democracy.
