Good job, as always. The watch is a cheap replica made for tourists though. Real one has a case made of steel, different movement, has no silly stamping except serial number on the back and absolutely none of that ridiculous cage. Should also have very radioactive radium digits dial without any other letters or signs. This was a no nonsense military tool for deep diving.

It’s probably already been said, but this is actually the civilian homage version of the legendary Zlayoust Agat 191. The originals were made during the Cold War for Russia Navy divers. They were so big in part as they used an American Waltham pocket watch movement. They had no shrapnel guard, no graphics on the face (and certainly no second hand) and no embossed back - just a smooth back with possibly a serial number. These 1990’s post Iron Curtain versions are still a nice looking watch but tend to use a standard size Vostok movement - hence the big spacer ring inside. Second hand originals tend to go for about £1200. And they still make them new, starting from about £900; including a smaller version. The ‘tourist’ version tends to got for about £300 new. I’m not knocking this version though; I actually wear one as my daily watch and it’s surprisingly comfortable and certainly a conversation starter. Incidentally, Arnold Schwarzenegger has an original version too - presented to him by the makers… looks a bit smaller on his wrist though.
@microwavegommmm9162 ай бұрын
Do you know the reason behind not having a minute hand? That sounds insane to not have
@infadeldog132 ай бұрын
@@microwavegommmm916 Ah… I made an error if I said minute hand… I meant second hand. I’ll edit. Thanks for spotting the typo. Incidentally there are watches without mintier hands for real. In the original Soviet-made watches was "pocket" caliber "Kirovskie" K-43 with a diameter of 43 millimeters. And it was huge to match the case. And the lum in them was the radium one, so it is not safe to work with the original watches. In the modern revived model Zlatoust Watch Factory puts the mechanism Vostok 24 mm in diameter. Although it seems to me more organic if they put a modern mechanism Molnia (zipper) 3603 (originates from pocket Courtebert).
